Starring Anthony Warlow, WICKED’s leading ladies Lucy Durack and Jemma Rix and rising star Samantha Dodemaide as Dorothy, The Wizard of Oz is an enchanting revision of the all-time classic. Filmed by James Terry
I'm so absolutely entranced at Dorothy's costume change from blue dress to green dress at 2:48. It's so impressive, and it makes me so happy and giddy like a child every time I see it.
I’m a sucker for a great quick change! What an amazing production! Beautiful costumes and set, not to mention awesome choreography and great performances!
🙄 Wicked took inspiration from The Wizard of Oz. Both of these shows are drawing on illustrations form the original book series. But save for being green there are few similarities
Amazing dress change. I love her acting through the change as well. The only issue with the change is that even she knew it spun too high. As she spins look at her arms as she tries to make it lower.
What do you mean by “originally?” There’s a character named Gloria in the 1942 musica adaptation written for the Muny. There’s also a Gloria in the books, but she’s a character from Jinxland. She doesn’t exist in the book or film from which the production in this video is adapted.
i’m going to be playing an oz woman for the musical at my school- scared but excited! watching amazing actors and dancers do this performance inspire me a lot so hoping for the best :)
Honestly I rate Samantha Dodemaide as a truly amazing actress but she’s brunette naturally so the risk of not pigtailing actual hair and getting to that moment where it’s a wig in the same hairstyle means that wig you can detect joins and everything, wigs change looks but when you cast a brunette from the start and opt to make her look fake.

The top and the front pannel of the skirt are doubled up, with the blue on top and the green under it. As she spins you can hear the Velcro when she pulls away the top, then wraps the blue front panel around to make a green skirt. The original top is tucked in the back between the two panels! Hope this helped! It took me a few watches to see it!
Usually production numbers like this one are performed at a "media call" specifically for the purpose of having footage that can be shown as part of a local television news item and other publicity purposes. There is no audience present, just a pool of media crews and reporters. That's why you aren't hearing any audience reaction on this clip. I think it's worth a round of applause too and would hope it did in performance.
