For the people out there that don't like the movie or Meryl Streep let me just say to you. She is a AMAZING actress one of the best and has done an AMAZING job pro trialling Margret Thatcher. She is someone who takes risks just like Margret did and I think she has done movies that actresses today would be scared to do. So before you make harsh judgements on Meryl just remember she's not perfect but to me she is as close as you can get.
I love it when she said "Nudity is nothing. It's not really a provocation. Try to talk about leaving and dying..." Today, sex is splashed on the screen ceaselessly. It USED to be a provocation when writers and directors had enough common sense not to show it. It's to the point where now, in today's society, most audiences have accepted it. But, honestly, it really is nothing. Meryl doesn't compromise her convictions for greatness and that is why she is so magical on the screen and in real life.
This why she is a top actress, she devotes herself to learning as much as she can about the role she plays. In music of the heart she learned to play the violin which she was nominated for.
god i love her so much that i could cry. her voice and the way how she tells what she wants to share it´s so awesome. okay now i cry :D ♥ thanks for sharing this
@LESERSKRING I think that Meryl could turn even the most moderate and sane of us into stalkers, she's simply one of the classiest, most genuine, talented and thoroughly enchanting people alive today. I have unfathomable, infinite respect and admiration for her. It's always wonderful when those who possess immense talent turn out to be really likeable, decent and thoroughly adorable human beings. Meryl really is the complete package. I can't believe that the remarkable Kate Hepburn detested her.
Meryl Streep would be so interesting to talk to in real life. She is so intelligent and I am fassinated , bought all her movies via amazon since in SA we were deprived of watcing them all.Looking forward to see Meryl bringing yet another potrait of an interesting person to us. I would not like to be called a storker but abig Fan and would really like to talk to her because she seems so full of energy and is inspiring to all woman, mothers and wives..maybe one day I might be privilaged to meet her.
Also, she was one of Pinochet's strongest supporters and called Nelson Mandela a terrorist. This, I feel, warrants being remembered. Also, to refer to the prospect of not seeing her son Mark again (I think she is referring to the time he was lost in the desert) is insulting when ten Irish mothers would never see their sons after they died on hunger strike at her hands. For shame to portray her so sympathetically for now this is how she'll be remembered by those who didn't live through the 80s.
Golda Me'ir served as the prime minister of Israel, a nuclear power, before Margaret Thatcher. It's a pity she doesn't get recognized by Meryl Streep in her interviews.
@getagripUSA But Australia doesn't have nuclear power, and is in the Eastern hemisphere, two of the things Meryl prefaced her statement about Thatcher with. Also, she said first, and longest. :)
my cousin was pretty bad with his temper he once owned a restaurant and he and his immedaite family all have dreams of celecrities.Ppl i would lvoe to meet but i had huge agruments bc i didnt join the actors guild.
@getagripUSA In the Western hemisphere there has been more than one female PM, but Meryl's comment wasn't just narrowed to that. "The only female in the western world to rule a nuclear country" ...
I remember thinking that everyone should have a nude picture on the internet, and then it would not be as useful for blackmail and coercion. Some people will never share my view.
And her son, by the way, is alive and well after being convicted by a South African court of attempting to organise an illegal coup d'etat in Equatorial Guinea. He served a suspended sentence. Meryl Streep is a wonderful actress but this film is a naively indulgent exercise.
I would have far, far more enjoyed a film about Elizabeth Kubler Ross for Pete's sake Now THERE is an interesting woman Maggie bores the socks off me sorry.
