Tube Amp Care and Maintenance: Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifier - Share and Subscribe for more Content - Contact Me: paranormalguitar@gmail.com - More Videos: goo.gl/blh3Ra
i own this exact amp and i was told by Mesa techs that this is indeed safe, HOWEVER there are a few things you must do: - remove one rectifier tube as well (doesn't matter which one) - use the next lowest impedance speaker output. for example, if you were using the 8 ohm, you now need to use the 4 ohm into the same speaker setup - make sure the two tubes that you leave are NOT on the same side! 50W mode is fun as hell 😁
Yo! You missed a prime opportunoty to do an asmr video of you cleaning this. But anywho loved the video. It was cool to see what tube amps are like and what it takes to maintain them.
If you only place 2x power tubes on the Mesa Dual Rectifier you will get 50 watts instead of 100w, which for at home solo play, would be more ideal. I use an attenuator on my dual rec with all tube slots populated (100w) to get to bedroom levels. The new DR model known as the ''multi-Watt'' has a switch that sets it to different wattages without needing to remove tubes,
@@thet740 For 50w operation on these, if one did want to run on the Tube Rec, does it matter what socket you place the tube in, and does it def only need one? Also for SS Rec operation in 50w, does it need a Rec Tube at all, or do you just put one in for safety, or incase you want to use it?
I was searching for a tube amp one RU-vid and got this notification, nice :)) I'm glad I did tho The amp I was searching was the Marshall DSL20H, seems like a nice and powerful little amp.
@@Slappy_McSpankme I know that that affects your clean headroom, but does it affect your sound in any way? Also, does the steel plate that goes over the grille serve any purpose, or is it just decorative?
Unless your using isopropyl alcohol on your input jacks and tube sockets you will be leaving behind contaminants that will become conductive. That will destroy an amp. Only replace valves that are bad unless you have money to burn.
