This is it! The ORIGINAL Boogie. The FIRST high gain guitar amplifier in existence. It's hard to imagine, but before Randall Smith designed the Mark I amplifier, a high gain guitar preamp did not exist. This amplifier completely redefined how the electric guitar sounds, and changed the soundscape of modern music forever.
The Mark V accurately captures what the original was all about. The fat tones, creamy leads, the inimitable ability to capture and project every nuance, every ounce of soul streaming from the guitarist.
Stay tuned for future parts of this series exploring all of the preamp modes of the Mark V and for more information please see our website at: www.haggertysmu...

Another great vid, Don. These are the best. The Mark 1 mode is the first mode that really drew me in when i first got the Mark V head. Sweet sweet tone!

@tonepursuit Thanks for watching! These vids were done with the 4x12 Rectifier and I think they do excellent with cleans as well as dirt. Very bold and punchy. We have a vid of the 4x12 Rec vs Stiletto too. We have Mark V's and 4x12's in stock and ready to ship! :-)

I'm lovin' my mark v, I just wish there was a way to switch between all the different tones without having to do an amp dance. It's cool though, as a beginner I'm still just figuring out how to use the freaking thing....great videos and very helpful. Thanks man.

@satch4u3 "Sweet" is exactly the way to describe a Mark I. Each note has a sweetness to it... yet it's a very transparent tone, totally responding to your guitar, pickups, and playing technique.

Thanks for watching. The amp in this video was mic'ed with a shure ksm27 and electrovoice raven. About 3-6" from the grill, off the center of the dust cap. Our current videos are mic'ed with a Royer R-121, sometimes with an SM57 mixed in. We use an audio technica shotgun mic for the voice (can't remember the model). It's pulled out of the mix when the guitar is being played back.

I think most Mesa's are very Bass & Treble control sensitive. Good Video.

@haggertysmusic well, it would be nice to show the settings for the express the way you guys do for all the other demos. keep it up!

@polaris20 The Mark V really doesn't have any more 'noise' than any other tube amp. In our videos we have the amps turned up very loud and the studio lighting tends to exaggerate any kind of noise!

Is the Mark V a noisy amp? It seems to hum a lot in each of the videos. Otherwise, sounds awesome!! Thanks for taking the time to do these videos.

If you want BIG bottom end do not get the Stiletto 4x12 Cab, I had one with my Roadster head, should have bought a Oversized Recto cab :-) Now I get great results with an Egnater oversized 2x12 can with Elite 80 speakers ( Lead 80 ) and not near the price of a Mesa Cab.

Hey Don, how do you mic the amp? And I also wonder how do you record your voice pristine clear? I can't see any clip-on mics on your t-shirt. BTW You make the best demo videos of mesa gear.

Hey guys, I am sure this is mentioned somewhere in the posts... Are you running a recto 4x12 cab on this vid? Selling my Lonestar to get the mark V and wondering about cab choice. Really would prefer a 2X12. Should I go recto? I want that tight bottom end and wondered if recto might be to big on the bottom end. what you have here sounds... Uh-Ma-Zing, so I thought I would check. Also, I noticed you used the combo on the cleans. What about closed back on the cleans? (Biting nails...)

@jsabo1929 We could possibly do that. Have you checked out the mesa videos for the express? Is there something else you would like to see featured with that amp?

The only disappointment about this amp is each channel more than one killer tone, but you can only pick one per channel per performance
@Beaver1969
@Beaver1969 10 лет назад
I think this setting is castrating the sound of this channel completely. you can get some great hi-gain fuzz tones if you crank the bass and gain.

***** Nah, I just own a Mark V. I made a suggestion to others who might want to buy the amp or for those who already own it.
