Royal Festival Hall, 17/12/1997, with Renee Fleming, Luciana D'intino, Roberto Alagna, Roberto Scandiuzzi, City of Birmingham Symphony Chorus and Philharmonia Chorus , Philharmonia Orchestra conducted James Levine
I love Roberto Scandiuzzi’s affectionate (and congratulatory) back slap at 42:55 after Alagna’s stunning Ingemisco - it’s a real Colline / Rodolfo moment where they’re back in Café Momus!
Fantastic. I was in the chorus, an alto. I remember when it was announced to the audience that Pavarotti was ill. There were very loud gasps and groans of disappointment. Then the announcer told them he was to be replaced by Roberto Alagna... and the audience excitement was palpable! Alagna was the bright new star and he did himself proud. Watching this now fills me with nostalgia. THANK YOU!
Il serait bien de se mettre d’accord sur l’articulation et les respirations. Alagna respire dans sa première phrase, alors que Fleming fait toute la phrase sans respirer. La basse qui chante avec la partition fermée 😮😮😮
