Throughout my going to work this week, I have seen so many signed School T-Shirts by the school, there is a school right by where I work, and I have seen so many of them throughout the week with signed t-shirts. I have also heard many kids talking about leaving school too.
I just wanted to wish them all the luck in the world for life post school. There are highs and lows of adulthood. The highs are that you're not tied down to 5 days of six hours stuck in a classroom, you can do more of what it is that you want to do, there are less rules to abide by, usually a lot less bullying, unless you're unlucky enough to work with overgrown bullies, but there is usually a lot less bullying or on a lesser scale, you can have later bedtimes (although as adulthood goes on you'll have wondered why you put off sleep so much hahahahahahahaha as it's one of the biggest if not the best pleasure of adulthood) hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha, you can become gradually more and more independent and not have to be with your parents all the time and you can go to the bloody toilet as and when and as many times as you want to!!!
The downsides are that nowhere near as many people fuss over you as an adult, in school, even if you don't realise it, you have at least a few of the teachers who have your back, I know that there are teachers who are horrible ******** who everyone hates.
I was lucky in both of my schools in that I didn't hate any of my teachers or my TAs, a few got on my nerves or irritated me, but none that I actually actively disliked
My Mum hated her primary school headmaster who took over from the original lovely one, but she liked the rest of her primary school teachers. She hated her Sewing teacher in senior school, if you knew what school she went to, obviously I won't put it on here, but if you knew, you'll know everyone feels the same!!! she wasn't keen on her Maths teacher and wasn't too fussed on her PE teacher as well and she had a weird Headteacher too!!!! But some of her teachers really had her back!!!! there was a lovely French Teacher who helped her with exam nerves in such a lovely way, there was her form teacher who had her back when she finally snapped at an ongoing bully and others who were just generally lovely to her.
my Dad had a Nun as his Headmistress in little school but loved his headmaster in Senior School, he had a horrible Maths Teacher but again had some lovely teachers who were nice to him.
I was lucky with all my teachers in both schools, but I'll always be thankful to one of them in little school, who really brought me out of my shell for a while, I'll forever be grateful and to a lovely TA lady for helping me out of my shell who died far before her time.
My point is, school is anything but perfect, especially Senior School, and I was a hell of a lot more emotional at leaving little school than secondary school, same for my Mum and Dad, but, it's when you get out of school you realise that it wasn't all doom and gloom, and there are always at least a few people who'll have your back.
I know how hard secondary school can be, and I know that some of you will be delighted and relieved to leave, to be fair I was and I know that my Mum and Dad were too, it's just not the same as little school, but I hope you've managed to maintain some genuine lovely friendships out of it that go on into adulthood, engagements, marriages, children, holidays and events taking your kids to school together in years to come!!! You will always have a few teachers that stay in your heart forever too!!
I am so glad that the exams are over too, they are so nerve-wracking and so much pressure is put on kids nowadays, but you really can and will do just fine if you haven't got brilliant grades, not everyone needs to be doctors, surgeons, nurses, any job, no matter what it is, means you're earning your own money and making your own living, from the likes of working in McDonald's to top consultant orthapedic surgeons, completely different types of jobs and a hell of a wage difference, but both are providing services and making a difference to society and it doesn't matter which one you do or something in the middle, if you're earning your own money and making a difference to lives and providing a service, that's all that matters. Enjoy all your summers and forget about results day for a bit, even if it is easier said than done, so glad you're all getting proper summer weather too!!!! No matter what you're doing after school, as long as you're putting effort into something, that's all that matters and don't take any of this "you can be anything you want to be" **** to heart either. just to something you are good and enjoy. No one can do everything, there's always something everybody cannot do and there is nothing wrong with that but the "anything you want to be" comment really annoys me.
