I wanted to focus more on the reasoning behind Bojan’s lack of success and the factors behind it while also shining more light on mental health and awareness. I know there’s a few videos of this topic out already, but I already worked on the script so didn’t want to stop lmao - so this is how I want to make it different. Thanks to TheRetroRoute for the inspiration to make this video! Check him out, his videos are very underrated: ru-vid.com/show-UCnoQXQjLGJvNHSJ8xrRnWTA
@@joaorufino4952 VEEERY toxic. I saw some comments on twitter under posts about how Ronaldo and Georgina lost a newborn. They were trolling and making fun of it. Like bruh 🤦♂️
The most underrated part of Bojan’s career is that he was much happier to be out of the major spotlight, just playing the game he loves for “smaller” clubs and keeping to himself. And if he’s happy, that all that matters to be honest
It's just a one Messi, no 1 else will ever exist.... I won't even argue with anyone about that😂 Messi too had his own childhood health problems, but he was meant to be.... Jst like Jesus, there wil also be only One Messi🤗🤗
@@sseruwoozarobert791 comparing Messi to Jesus is absurd but i get your point, but there will 100% be someone better than Messi in the future, if he can take the burden like messi and continue of course..
@@WxnBum It was just an example I guess, @the name of Jesus every knee should bow.... The same applies to Messi😂 There wil be good players but his skills, IQ, love for⚽, his dribbling, those passes....7golden boots, 7 ballon d'ors of which 4 are consecutive,, 20+ assists & 50+ goals every season,, 90goals in a calendar year, i mean such achievements no one wil ever
After the Vazquez video. I was thinking of bojan who was called "the next Messi". I saw him play, he really did have that ability to become a world class player and I will always remember that "offside goal against inter".
As a Stoke fan, you could just see how good Bojan was and how much of a “step ahead” he was against other players in our squad and in the PL. We shouldn’t have played him in the match where he ruptured his ACL, it was a cup match against a lower tier side where he didn’t need to play. He was incredible for Stoke and he’s still loved here today. Great video Raymar, excellent content as always
@@RaymarFootball you must be a typical ronaldo fan why did you write bojan better than messi we didnt see bojan scoring a goal like what messi scored against getafe neither did we saw 91 goals in a single year why dont you add ronaldo for that eg this player was better than ronaldo why the scale is always messi whether its comparing to other players or ronaldo comparing himself to messi in every interview . Dont be salty be respectful . I don't think bojan will ever be better and then you people talk about mentality that this person has strong mentality messi hasn't
@@mightytitan1719 why we talking about Messi in his prime? Look at the comments, everyone thought Bojan’s stats were Messi 😂 Bojan had a better debut season than anyone ever. Then he couldn’t live up to the hype. That’s all my video is about buddy
@@mightytitan1719 it's not him who are ronaldo fan. It's you who aren't even Messi fans, but worshipper All of what you mention is happen 5 years after what this videos topic talk about And Ronaldo surely have no business here. He didn't even play at barca!
Bojan admits (I show it in the end of the video) that he would rather be away from the limelight and just do his own thing for smaller clubs! If he had a more extroverted or narcissistic personality, could have definitely been a reality imo
I don't really think, "his career turned out bad for him", it was his destiny, he didn't have the mental fortitutde built into him to withstand pressure, and thus had anxiety problems. In simple words, neither him nor anybody could've done anything(except that knee injury), that would helped him turn into a GOAT, because he didn't have the mental capacity/strength to withstand pressure.
@@dank7044 that is to simplistic and it seems like you are saying that people with anxiety are weak. He could have overcome his anxiety with psychological support and therapy. But most of the culture in sport doesn't want to adknowledge this reality and need for athletes. Only recently do we see people like Simone Biles and other speak up about this. And they were heard because they were the goat. Bojan, not yet beign successfull was just tossed to the side by the clubs he played for.
@@lekkerkoffie8605 what do you mean bro? It’s just my opinion, and if you think that the older generation was the greatest, doesn’t that mean no respect towards Messi/CR7 for all their records and achievements?
@@RaymarFootball 🤣 I was just kidding. People think they have to add 'with all due respect' behind all their opinions nowadays and I think that is weird. As if it would be disrespect without that... People seem to be so scared to be distrusted regarding their 'respect'. 🤣 I don't respect that kind of fear. It's weak and silly.
Just cement that Messi's mental strength is no joke..not everyone can deal with that huge pressure and had to deal the pressure of a nation in Argentina ( a football-obsess nation) as well as be the next Maradona, one of their greatest since early teen..
Nah I don't think he has that strong mental health he literally faked his national retirement in 2016 just to silence Argentine fans that wanted him to go because he couldn't win them a trophy for national team like maradona did
As a Catalan guy born and raised in Barcelona, I remember in season 2009/10 Thierry Henry hugging Bojan after Bojan scoring a goal, and the match's narrator speaking / saying "abraçada de germà gran a germà petit", which means "older brother hugging younger brother" . Your videos are so good to see Raymar, are very entertaining, keep it up with your labour
Anxiety is no joke, I feel for the guy, many people think it’s easy to get over but it ain’t, it’s a long journey but with the right support you can get through it, if you suffer from anxiety or any mental illness, please get help
Ye "anxiety" is no joke. I totally agree. Its DELUSION. Like flath earth, like evolution theory and such. Theres no such thing like "anxiety". There are ONLY 2 forces in this universe. Divine Lord's force and corrupted evil Satan's force. Depression IS SPIRITUAL DISEASE. Not mental. It starts with spirit then it spreads all over your body. Any mental illness = problems with demons. Ofc official Mickey Mouse science and medicine wont aprrove it because some people can lose their lives(not only jobs)
I have watched many videos on bojan's downfall but this video did take a different approach by talking about mental health issues of footballers and the hype around young talents calling them new Messi, Ronaldo etc. Great video raymar Keep it up 👍❤️
Appreciate that! Yup, like Bojan mentions at the end, it’s toxic and scummy to expose youngsters to insults and toxic fans/media. Comparisons dont help, let them be their own player!
I am glad he won trophies at least ..he was part of arguably the best squad of all time 2008/09..winning over 10 trophies before 21 is an achievement of its own
I'm from the town where Bojan started to play football at, and I remember really liking him on my youth. Such a shame that pressure got to him, but he decided to move out of the spotlight and I respect him for that
@@RaymarFootball I was quite young at that moment, so I don't remember much, but iirc from what I was told, a lot of people supported Bojan taking a break. I believe that feeling of "This is our player we are talking about" helped people defend him a little bit more. Bare in mind that the town he started playing football at was not the same town he was born in, so not everybody knew him. The ones that talked about Bojan the most where the members of our football club and some of his friends, all on his behalf
thanks for your video, I remember bojan and as a person who have PTSD and Depression, I can feel him. I always wonder what happened to him, gladly he has an amazing life in Japan now.
@@PoorStretch I think they will be like madrid who done 4 season consequently, but this team will not just won ucl. They will won quadruple 4 season straight
In many ways overcoming mental issues and learning to enjoy football and life after crumbling after pressure so hard is more admirable to me than breaking all the records and winning all the titles, Bojan became a great in his own way. Many forgot about him, and he stopped breaking records, but is that really so important? Fantastic video once again
It is comparatively easy to compare any wonder boy at late teens to Messi and Ronaldo but the consistency those two has is totally unheard of. Talent, will, mentors, dedication and accolades are always sought out but everybody always undermine the importance of mental health.
I suffered this type of anxiety entering highschool. I was suppose to be the savior to our school finally being a finals winning team. I missed my first shot my freshman year, kicking it on the 6 yard box straight to the keeper. When I turned around and saw my entire team including the coach yelling their heads off, the goal seemed to shrink from that moment onward. Being the most talented player on the team and never being able to score was a curse, without my coach talking to me, only benching me messed with my head all 4 years. I ended up deciding to stop beating defenders 1v1 and became a pinpoint passer. Throughout my 20s and became a 4 peat winning coach, focusing on the mental strength of my comp teams, teaching kids what was never told to me. Anxiety is no joke.
Very relatable man! There’s times when you feel like something is your fault or you should have done better. Happens to all of us for many different things in life. Good on you for changing your mindset and not stopping 💪
Great video as always, also love the approach you took and taking mental health into account. Young footballers nowadays have a mighty task in staying consistent and not getting slammed by the pressure of being the next big thing (social media also having a huge part in this). Many cases come to mind in the last decade or so. Just one quick note, Gérard, Thiago Motta and Edmilson were all played at central midfield, and not as forwards. The usual front three when Messi debuted consisted of Dinho at Lw, Ludovic Giuly as Rw and Eto'o at St with only an aging but very much still relevant Henrik Larsson and a really underrated forward in Maxi López. Going back to the topic of failed wonderkids I'd love seeing you tackle on Hachim Mastour's failed career. I still remember way back when watching so many compilations of his insane skills whilst playing for AC Milan's youth team, the guy was absolute fire
Yup, I think more clubs should really focus on preparing kids to deal with it or adding mental/psychological training and therapy into their routine. Media and fans can be very toxic. Also, thanks for that 😂 Just wanted to mainly point out that Maxi Lopez and Henrik we’re “easier” to start over, compared to Eto’o, Henry, Zlatan, and Villa. Will definitely add him to the list brother ✍️
At first i taught you were one of those who would just read from wikipedia and post common images and footages. But you actually provide valuable and entertaining material. Keep it up👍!
Great video ! Bojan is one of my favorites of all time. You are spot on. That wonderkid could really play. Amazing talent. However there is more to the story I think with Bojan and his falling out with Pep Guardiola from Barcelona B request. Also there was a great quote from Mourinho said Bojan is "a Dangerous Player" who "Nearly Killed Me." Frank Rijkaard gave the boy the opportunity he needed and he shined.
Great video! Mental health is real and sad to he had to go through that. What a talent. Imagine if he had a killer instinct? Glad that he has found some form of peace.
Sometimes you just love football without all the excess bagage that tend to come with it. Bojan didn't play for money & fame, he just loved the game! All that other stuff was just a drag, unnecessary pressure.
The career of a young, talented soccer player is really hard and most of the players who are minors can't handle the spotlight because so called "toxic soccer fans" keep dragging them down by their immature comments. Yes, being a a famous soccer player means you have to be extremely strong mentally but if you can't handle the stress , the mean comments, the spotlight then it has nothing to do with "giving up" or "being weak". It means you have to choose what is the best for you, for your mental state. And Bojan did the right thing. I am glad he has a happy life now and he still plays soccer despite everything what happens in the past. He didn't give up. He just chose to be happy.
Great video. Remember buying him in older FMs. This is the exact reason why Messi and Ronaldo are the best ever to do it. Skill wise there may be someone whos close..whos able to do things they did, but the time we live in is different. These two were goats for 2 decades.. all while social media and internet being a thing since their teens years. The pressure.. that the fans and fanatics create.. the balls on them to even play for their country or take crucial penalty/free kick is insane.. if I miss a penalty, no ones gonna know shit and will forget it.. if they miss, internet will blow up and hateful comments emerge.. thats the kind of pressure no one before them had to face and being able to comcentrate and filter it out all while no impact on your game is superb. Just look at Ronaldos son.. hes got a gan base as akid and fans watching matches/trainings in hope tomeet his dad and already pressing him to be the next one. I cant even imagine what its like.. I mean.. I get mad just from the rlessure my work creates.. with handful of people watching me 😀 they are indeed built differently.
I ruptured my ligament too. I lost my agility, pace and tbh, this is the worst injury. I love football a lot and how i wish I didn’t go to play that day
I’m sorry to hear brother. How’s rehab? Hope you can still do basic movements to stay fit. A friend of mine who loved basketball had the same problem and he can never really play it again 😔
As a person with Generalized anxiety disorder I can completely understand his decision for not participating in 2008 euro. Severe anxiety or panic attacks can cause high bp like 180/120, a heart rate of in excess of 200 combined with shortness of breath, dizziness etc. So it is impossible to play with that at the highest level. I feel sad for him, some people despite being talented are just unlucky.
Bojan was a special player. Sometimes life has something else planned. Of course Bojan had other plans too. Not to mention the mental strength it takes to be a top football player.
it's not about how bad your anxiety is it's how well you deal with it. Many players feel immense anxiety due to the position they are in but still overcome their hardships inside the pitch and off the pitch. He worked hard as hell to make it to the position that he is in he should not let anxiety hold him back. It's nice to see that he's happier now though.
Its really nice that he plays together with Iniesta in Japan now. Not only is Andres a fellow countryman and former team member of Bojan but also one of the big guys Bojan surely thought he failed back then as kid. Now they enjoy the game they love together as made men. And btw, having also Lukas Podolski in the team must be great fun ;)
Raymar! very well made video! but i wanted to make a suggestion “el magico” gonzales. i know that the man never played in the biggest teams, but just by maradona calling him the best player, i think i would like to see his rise and fall, and how good he could have been, so i hope you take this in consideration!
This video is so good. I like you are focusing on the La Masia Barca I really wanted you to make atleast one video on this topic. Btw I have been watching you from your 1998 conspiracy video i am true og and i really admire you and your voice and the effort you put into these videos. Amazing vid keep up the good work❤️❤️
My goodness. Never knew any of this. No wonder Messi doesn't pay attention to the media. Terrible pressures on a youth! He was obviously talented and fast. Messi too is introverted. I can't imagine how awful it must have been for them. Hope he is happy at what he does now.
Yup, people don’t give him enough credit for his mental strength, man gives no Fs. Then Ronaldo on the other hand, gives so much Fs he wants to shut them up 😂
I remember at the time everyone was saying that he was going to end up being better than Messi. Such a shame he couldn’t live up to his potential, loved to watch him play
@@RaymarFootball how was he called "the next Messi" when they both came up together through La Masia ranks and Bojan was regarded as the most promising talent of the two?
this just makes me respect messi even more because you can tell he was very similar to bojan in the way that he doesn't like the spotlight or all the publicity and is an introvert that would much father keep to himself unlike ronaldo who loves the attention and spotlight
Another well made video. As fans of the game we need to remember that these lads are just that, young men. Its like the current Harry Maguire hate, it is getting out of hand.
@@RaymarFootball I believe we all were, in terms of football he was terrible, it was now even humorous. I think it only got that far because we truly do expect much more from him given his time at Leicester, the price his services were acquired for and the captaincy. However I do think footballers should consider taking time off at times...he needs to find himself, the top quality Maguire
As you brought up mental health it makes me think about what Maguire must be enduring. It's easy to taunt and mock him, and I'll admit I do it too. But when you hear what a fellow professional like Alphonso Davies is saying it must be very harsh.
Messi stepped up even with a growth hormone disorder and being a major introvert I ain't bashing on Bojan but I feel like Messi wanted it WAY WAY more than Bojan wanted it but great video man
I honestly believe that if the media didn’t press him too much and actually let him relax, I believe that Bojan would be great and would be able to handle the pressure with time.
@@RaymarFootball because Messi is having ISFP preferences, and handling presssures better than INFP ( which probably Bojan's best fit type preferences).
Coaches are supposed to take care of these young players so they don’t “ burn” : before they are ready. In Argentina they try not to rush players. In 1978 Menotti ( the National Team’s coach) didn’t think Maradona was ready to be in the final list of 23 players to go to the World Cup, so he took him out of the list. Maradona never forgot it, but maybe was the right move by the Coach. You don’t rush players, they have to develop mentally, not just technically!
Another video of Raymar that telling the pre phase story of another player who had better records than Messi. Just like VV. But the thing is none couldn't be on the same level as Messi in football history. That's called the ultimate potential unlocking of a player. Taking this video as reference, there every single kid (who has become football star later) in this world had better physicality than kid Messi as he had hormone deficiency. But none couldn't be him even being so normal.
hard to deny Bojan’s first two seasons were much better than Messi’s though, but Messi went another levels after that while the many fell off. Promise next vid won’t be about Barca 🙏 haha
@@RaymarFootball Not really, he was mostly a bench player; Messi was an starter already in his first season. Despite him having amazing stats, he could never be a starter for Barca
😂 yeah I may have stretched that a bit, but Maxi Lopez and aging Larsson were definitely easier to remove out of the lineup than Eto’o, Henry, Zlatan and Villa
What a honour and a pleasure it was to have bojan at my club stoke city ,playing in one of the best stoke teams I have seen ,what a shame it was when he sustained his injury for him and for stoke ,he will always be loved by the supporters of the mighty stoke city
Great video. However I spotted a mistake. Thiago Motta, Gerard and Edmilson were not forwards at all. Thiago Motta and Gerard were defensive midfielders and Edmilson played both in defense and midfield.
