Pretty sure the general trend (irl) at least is that midfielders who take assistant/U-21 roles are better set to be managers.

I love these sort of saves. My favourite was a few years ago doing one with Robbie Keane. Started in ireland before moving to Celtic, Wolves then ending as Spurs and Irish Manager. Really enjoyed returning to former teams!

Never thought of it, but is it actually possible to make players stay as coaches when they retire from being players? I just saw the role change in the beginning and thought that in my saves these two always retire completely. Without even trying to stay in the game as staff. Does the editor provide any functionality like that?

1/2 This goes to show that (although this does not represent both what Messi and Ronaldo will do after they hang out their boots): there is a difference between *great managers* and *great players.* It's very hard to master both. *Lampard, Gerrard, Solskjaer, Henry, Van Nistlerooy* and so many more of those I failed to mention *all tried and either are struggling to find a job or in their respective leagues they're coaching, or simply gave up.* Edit: I believe there is an element of luck when it comes to managing and coaching a club at the right place and at the right time, when you have the right players in the squad in your team. *Take this opinion with a heavy grain of salt.*

2/2 For anyone who disagree, please educate me on *any world-class player who transitioned to a world-class manager,* who is confident in giving the club he/she managed guarenteed continential and domestic titles/trophies. Edit: Although I am reluctant to say this: But *Zidane, Pep Guardiola and his mentor Johan Cruyff* belongs there. But very few world class players can succeed at becoming coaches. It goes to show that managing a club to win games and trophies *is a whole another ball game as a whole.*

0:33 Ronaldo is weaker mentally though 🤔 I actually hired Ronaldo as a youth coach in my save, he had really good stats for a beginner coach. I had Messi as a player on a free transfer for one season, I then told him to go into coaching and he said he would - and then he just retired and is now an afterthought in my save :X.
