This is powerfully inspiring. I think I just realised or discovered something important. I can't really express what it is but I feel genuinely enlightened.

@@danielkearney8799 Pseudo-tonal is the best description I can think of, because technically that passage does proceed from very tonal ideas of tonic and dominant chords and uses a great deal of triads. It's just that the triads are somewhat cleverly derived from "mode 2" which is just Messiaen's notation for the octatonic scale. It even distinctly modulates to a new key, twice. The score indicates "like a hunting song, like the horns" for that section. 🙂
