Who finds their self randomly singing the Messick's intro song during the day? "Messick's, a helping hand with your land." That's when you know you've watched almost all their videos.
Enjoy your videos, they are just as well thought out as the machines themselves. You cover everything. Great Job. We just purchased an x1140 to use on the farm.
was at my local Kubota dealer a cattle farmer was getting his 2014 x1100c serviced wow , he has over 4000 hours on it ! now that says something about the longevity of these !!!!!!!
A very nice, in-depth review! This was one of the videos that helped my department decide to purchase the Kubota over the other competition. Not to mention other departments (especially Grounds Dept) already have several of these across the campus.
I thought you gave a real good review. I like the idea you wasn't afraid to show a 3rd party plow and explain the benefits over a Kubota plow. Also liked at the end the 2 things you disliked and that fact you stated if you want speed over work this isn't the vehicle for you. Thanks for the honest review.
We have a 1100 at my work, just had a recall on the rear knuckles. The thing is awesome, it's great the heat and air conditioning is awesome. Although it does have some issues, the main one I have is that it's under powered. I can load one scoop with a 36" bucket with our backhoe and it significantly hinders the power and makes it struggle, it will still do it and it will handle more but it needs more power, sometimes I feel like on a incline with a trailer and a load in the bed that it's going to come to a stop and not be able to power through it and we don't have time to drive around in low range all day. Also the the parking brake knob comes loose and comes off and spins around also and replacing it only fixes it for about a month. Also the shifter is awful, even if you have the brake to the floor it is still a pain in the butt, sometimes you cannot get it in drive without backing up and trying again. Other than that it's pretty good, comfortable, newt works good along with the AC, handles well. We also have 3 other rtv 900's that get used and abused everyday and they still get the job done.
There are some things you can do for power. 1 - if your model has a spark arrester (not all do) make sure its clean. These can plug up and choke the exhaust. 2 - when you service it, make sure to ONLY use Kubota SUDT2 transmission fluid. They can be finicky with the wrong fluid. 3 - there is a hand throttle kit available that you can use to raise the Rev's independently of the drive pedal. This way you have power right away, rather than waiting for the machine to rev up and build hydraulic pressure. your right about shifting, they have never been great.
we have 15 of these at the railroad. loaded with 1100 lbs of tools and equipment run 24/7/365. several are over 11k hours with routine maint. We've tried the Polaris Brutus...absolute junk. The RTV's arent sport machines but damn these are like 1/2 ton trucks go through 2' of snow in 2wd no problem. 4x4 they are unstoppable!
@@nocturnal7312 yes. they would. my buddy has the 4 seater x1140. weve put it through hell and back. weve jumped it off ramps, and put over 2k lbs in the bed plus another ton in the trailer
I bought one of these for my farm, they are incredible. I have had an old 2005 Kawasaki Mule for years, this is like that as far as toughness and use but on steroids.
Centrifugal clutch machine will not necessarily freewheel, it all depends on the machine, like Yamaha's Ultramatic CVT, it has a oneway clutch which keeps the belt tensioned all the time giving you actual engine braking, so it don't freewheel. While, Yamaha's CVT freewheels when you let off the throttle. So not all machines are the same, they will vary from manufacturer to manufacturer.
I just bought one and it’s great. I also have a Polaris Ranger XP and although it’s a lot faster and definitely better at the harder off road trails, the RTV does very well. It’s obviously a lot slower but it’s smooth, has good traction and is very easy on fuel. I never thought I’d have so much fun going so slow haha!
I’m really kinda disappointed that the boss UTV V plow will not quick hitch onto my B2650 the way it is set up from the design I really wanted one for next year. I really wish it had an adapter that would fit into the same B2714C front male implement coupler like the straight blade or the snow blower I have on the tractor Now that Kubota offers. But my dealer couldn’t help me out and said what I was trying to do is impossible!!! Nothing is impossible it just takes some more time to figure it out.
when you said you sell one very 4 days made me think of other other day when i was joking with my local kubota dealer i told him he should change the tractor in his name to rtv. Because it seems he moves more of them then tractors he always has 4-6 waiting to be delivered.
thanks for the reply, they should really have a disclaimer on this, had a 2012 with no problem it can be a little embarrassing when I have guests showing them around
Im thinking about getting one of these for commercial snow removal. How well do you think it will hold up with employee usage and constant forward/reverse. You say they are sluggish when its cold, meaning under powered or slow speeds. Or does that go away when they warm up ?
It appears as though Kubota makes the best cab of any UTV. I wonder why the heat isn't more directly facing the windshield...? Most other brands that produce cabs seem cheap and flimsy. It would be good to see one with a 40 hp engine and 30 inch tires.
I know I'm not in the same area as you, but theoretically, if I put the boss plow on after I put a winch on, would it work? Could I have a winch behind the boss plow during the winter?
Great review! You touched on it a bit but didn't give a definite answer. Are the doors removable? I doubt I would want them off, but just in case... I could handle releasing the gas springs and a few bolts.
The doors are not removable, but would come off with a few bolts. I would not recommend it though. Keeping the doors on also keeps the cab clean, guys who run with doors and windows open collect a lot of hard to clean dirt inside the cab.
Any talks of kubota getting more power into these maybe raising speeds to 35-40mph? Or better yet offer their other model with two rows of seating instead of one
@ Messicks I used to sell commercial trucks and my biggest frustration was two main issues. Different states had different fee structures and permissions and different states had different rules on advertising of destination charges from the manufacturer. For example, here in PA there wasn't a whole lot to hide and the "document" fee was capped by law at $135, however, down in VA the doc fee was often $599 and destination charge was not required to be part of the advertised price (around $1300 for a truck). Do you guys see the same challenges in equipment or is it less confusing for customers? I've never bought new equipment that was expensive enough to look into this.
We don't really have different legal requirements between states, but there are differences in their fee structures. Pennsylvania in particular has one of the most expensive UCC filing fees in the country, and that's often a surprise.
UTVs are great and all but in my opinion japanese mini trucks just make more sense, and I wish more after market manufacturers would take note like for snow plows. Heavier duty, larger bed, ability to go in and out of 4wd, is street legal in many places so contractor wise makes more sense to be able to go around a whole small city/village area, and have some off-road capability too with lift kits and such. Just more ideal in my opinion. Granted they’re older they’re also much much cheaper for a vehicle with a complete factory cab, and after accessories you’re still looking at a lot less than most UTVs
Jason Sechrist I imagine the air is cold.. Even though it words hard with so much glass exposure. I recommend a window tint. I saw a wiper blade on the windshield.
I have a new RTV 100 and will not go up a steep hill, they have been out and confirmed that all systems are set to factory settings, going up a hill, the response is that you have to back off to half to 3/4 throttle to go up the hill told him that they should point that out as that is not acceptable
What the track versions? I've heard the tracks are too much for the engine to push the machine. And the gearing is too weak to push the tracks as well.
Not something we see in our area. I would guess altitude could be a factor in a lot of that. I know I've heard the guys that have been successful are adding turbochargers.
@@MessicksEquip One of our gamekeepers has a JD Gator, had it for several years and was looking at getting a new diesel version but after seeing this l will point him in the direction of Kubota, sounds like a better machine all round.
+strpl2 there was some internet freak out about some slop in the wheel hubs when these first came out. I assume your referring to that. It was nothing but "internet panic" and not something that was ever a real issue. The x-series has been out for nearly 3 years now without a lick of real trouble. The biggest problems are the things we pointed out, the shifting could be easier and its sluggish in cold weather.
+Messick Farm Equipment ,thanks for the reply, I'm considering the x1100 , was looking at ranger 900 w/full cab & winch but it's 20k & no a/c ! Speed not really a issue just want a low maintenance highly reliable machine,
Bluegrass Kid I’m 6’3” and there is not a ton of room for the knees. When I’m sitting straight up I have maybe 3-4” to the dash area. Rides well. I recommend test driving and sitting in one to check.
My RTVx1100c was purchased used and the battery looses it's charge if not used regularly, I'm guessing it's a bad diode in the Alternator. Is this a common problem?
@@MessicksEquip thank you, I really think it is a parasitic drain.....however the Kubota dealer I bought it from put a new battery in it and told me the radio could be running it down, not the best service from my dealer, actually I was disappointed with his attitude. I charge it up when it won't start because I don't want to take the alternator to the repair shop because I wont have my RTV ready at all times the way I need it.
@@billwilliams9897 I don't think it's the battery, the problem still exists. I need to charge it up if I do not run it every so many days. My guess is the alternator, but I do not have time to mess with it.
@@tiredowalkin so you already replaced with a new battery and that didn't fix it? If not then a good idea is to go to Walmart and buy a $25 tester that will do a load test on a battery. It test the amperage while putting a load on the battery. That will tell you real quick what the problem is. Sounds like just a weak battery to me. Even a new battery can be weakened if someone forgets to turn the lights off and runs it down. You can usually charge it back up. But the damage is done. It wont ever be the same.
I just bought a new RTV 1100. I agree that it seems very heavy duty. However, the machine is severely under powered. When the AC is on even in low gear, it can barely climb a grade. That and the hard shifting are my two biggest complaints.
Watch our other videos. It's important your not burying the hst pedal. If at high altitude, consider the hand throttle kit. Also do not run hydraulic fluid besides SUDT2, and give it a few minutes to warm in cold weather.
Messick Farm Equipment I’m at 1100’ or so. Yes, if you bury the pedal even in low range with the AC on and going up a grade it will really big. Lifting the pedal lets the RPM rise. If it had more power then I guess it would need expensive emissions equipment.
You have to roll onto the throttle. Jamming it down quickly won't work. Just like any hydro-static drive. These will go up anything. I've used many of them and they will climb some sketchy steep hills.
Jason Daniels I’ve made some adjustments that I found on a forum and it’s helped a little bit. I can use the knob near the dump lever to run the RPM’s to max but it doesn’t do much after the adjustments. When the AC is on it feels like the parking brake is on.
Jason B True but if you did your research you would know that it's only common usage would be when referring to multiple species at once. IE you see a Mule deer and a Whitetail next to each other you coud say "Look at those deers". But in reality no one is ever going to say that. Unless they are uneducated and don't know any better.
30K?!?? Good lord....My neighbor has the JD, and we have been comparing ours. He found his on the used market. So I wasn’t sure of the new price...I paid right at 20K for my RTV, came with the radio, work lights, upgraded tow package (it’s an extension that makes it easier to mount the receiver) and some other little items. It’s as good or better than the JD, IMHO
