Learning how to do gold foil gilding, to create an awesome looking gold name on the Chris-Craft. When you are working on a 75-year-old boat with a 4-month-old Transom, you're going to have a lettering project to put the name on there. Paint or vinyl lettering doesn't hold a candle to gold leaf. If I could get a professional vinyl cut-out mask, in the font I need for my art, I thought I might be able to get a professional looking result. What you see here is a test piece with the vinyl mask. Since this was my first experience with the gilding method, you'll see that it has possibilities, but I need to hone my technique.
