When I first played RS, I thought the dark wizards at varrock were pkers. I told my friends I got pked at varrock and we were so scared. We ran as a group through it, and later we came back to massacre them for being dicks. Only later on we realized they were npcs.

And I'm sure noobs are happy with that, probably the ones who played before and remember the value. But new players will just have everything in the first minutes of playing and honestly wasn't getting that first black set a huge accomplishment when you first started playing the game?

Even rune armor is way too much, you all of you streamers and youtubers are coddling the new players too much. If someone walked up to me the first day I started playing this game and gave me the max armor for f2p and 220K, it would kill all of the fun for me. What else do I have to go for in f2P? Some of my best memories are mining iron ore for months before I could earn my full rune. Half of these players don't even understand what you've just given them in the first place. Same thing goes for streamers like Faux. Nice guy, but was giving noobs 5mil necessary? That's overkill. That kind of treatment is what separates modern MMOs from runescape. Other games shower you with help and items which destroys all of your incentive to play, while MMO plops you into the middle of nowhere with bronze equipment and 25gp and says, "this is your adventure, good luck motherfucker." If you REALLY wanted to be generous with these players, you should have given them a bond and a rune pickaxe. Now that's a hell of a motivator without destroying half of the fun.
