It's long been said that 50% of all marriages end in divorce though that number is overstated, Either way the stat is likely higher in the world of rock stars. Successful musicians can make it work, In fact we’ve previously highlighted some of the many rock star marriages that stood the test of time. Still there are many factors that make them unlikely partners for wedded bliss. For starters temptation is everywhere, The lure of groupies and the chance to have sex with no strings attached is a difficult siren song to ignore. Even without succumbing to such desires, life on the road can destroy a relationship. If the non rocker is stays at home they’re left wondering what kind of trouble their partner is getting up to without them, If the non rocker comes on tour, they’re suddenly with their partner which in itself can prove disastrous. this is messy Rock stars divorces.
Paul McCartney and Heather Mills.
Paul McCartney was with his first wife Linda for 29 years, She died of breast cancer in 1998, and a year later he found love again with Heather Mills. The two dated for a while and eventually married in 2002. Trouble seemed to already be brewing, Mills had a notably fractured relationship with McCartney’s daughter Stella. McCartney and Mills welcomed daughter Beatrice a year after the wedding, then the relationship began to fall apart. The couple separated in 2006 setting into motion a long and contentious divorce. A judge ruled that McCartney was consistent, accurate and honest in his evidence, while Mills was not just inconsistent and inaccurate but also less than candid. McCartney was nevertheless ordered to pay Mills 48,7 million dollars, and 70,000 dollars a year in child support.
Mick Jagger and Bianca Pérez Mora Macías.
The romance between Mick Jagger and Bianca Pérez-Mora Macías was a whirlwind. They met after a Rolling Stones concert in 1970 and were married less than a year later, Macías had refused to sign a 28 page prenuptial agreement. Then she went to their honeymoon suite alone as Jagger partied until 4AM with their star-studded guests. In hindsight these seem like obvious red flags, but the Jaggers spent the bulk of the 70s as a celebrity it-couple. Still marriage didn’t slow down his partying ways or his wandering eye, Jagger was rumored to have had several dalliances while he was married to Macías, but his affair with Jerry Hall proved to be the final straw. Macías sued for divorce on May 1978 on the grounds of adultery. She’d receive approximately 1 million pounds of Jagger’s fortune. Years later Macías told Vanity Fair that a rock star is the worst husband a woman could have, adding that the rock world was the most male-chauvinistic oriented society. Jagger would go on to many more high profile romances, but Macías remained the only woman he ever officially married.
