It sounds like the plot of a dystopian film - but it all happened to Dale Semper, a black bank manager from Enfield. After a seven year fight for justice, the Metropolitan police have settled the civil claim he brought for racial discrimination, false imprisonment and malicious prosecution.

Of course not. I know that because i went through a similar experience in the french speaking part of Switzerland... He is lucky he is still alive and could fight the battle. Many people ended up behind bars, their money frozen and in some cases they get thrown into psychiatric units against their will with the help of corrupt doctors who write false reports.

Police should be held to higher standards and anyone from the police found to have fabricated any evidence, lied or withheld information should be changed with perjury and perverting the course of justice and should be given double the prison sentence a layman would be given. Unless this is the law no restoration of trust in the police would take place. Corruption is thriving within the UK police.

It sounds like someone had it in for them and the MET allowed themselves to be used as an instrument of oppression for too long, probably due to incompetence mostly but perhaps there was also an element of prejudice or racism.

After so many public enquiries, lost court cases and settlements, it's clear the Met needs to be forced to change. A public campaign of ostracising and non-cooperation with officers is warranted and justified. The irony being that with their overall crime detection rate of less than 6%, according to Home Office data, such a campaign will have little to no impact on public safety.

He's a Bank Manager not an investment banker you clown. The man lost his job and had these serious false and malicious allegations hanging over him for 2 years that could have seem him spend decades in jail. It has then taken 7 years for him to clear his name. So yes we should feel empathy towards him!
