I have such a saw. In Russia. The saw has disc play and sole play. Metabo doesn't want to admit it's a malfunction. It is not possible to cut hard materials in two passes. Sorry for my English.

I got the Metabo rail which I run the ced plus on. Love lining up and plunging grooves, I’m about to tidy up a tile jobs edges tomorrow with it. I also have the ltx 57 hybrid and for my underlayment it does what I need it to with a good blade on. As far as the storage cause you drive around in drift vehicles or dune buggy’s, what have you😉😂🤣. I got what’s called a bag that keeps my Bosch rails and if you don’t tell anyone it even fits a Metabo😯😜. And that travels nicely in my equinox with me😎 ya finicky Aussies. Lmao just playing but you asked for it. Great review as always can’t wait to see the plunge saw roundup as I have been waiting patiently for the right product (Mafell) at the right price. Thanks gents!

Albeit 3mm off the Bosch cutting strip. I use it on the same tracks as my corded Mafell saw; which utilises the Bosch/Mafell tracks. Unsure if it would be different with the cutting strip/rubber registered to the Bosch track saw. That said, I actually prefer it is offset from the cutting strip. This then doesn't interfere with the rubber strip, leaving it perfectly intact and registered to the Mafell track saw. I use the Metabo for quick cuts where the finish isn't a huge concern, but straight cuts are, ie yellow tongue, ply bracing, etc. Also for cement sheet, the edge is more than acceptable with the blade away from the cutting strip. I use the Mafell track saw when I want no chips from the blade.

I have one of these and love it. All my gear is Metabo but the only thing I would say is that the upward cutting finish isn’t as neat as using a festoon track. I did have a maffel track but this saw didn’t fit it so I had to send it back

Great explanation on how 5.5 Ah is more powerful than 10.0Ah. It's hard to get your head around it but 5.5 Ah gives you more power per sec than the 10.0Ah if i understand it correctly due to its heat dissipation and active materials in the cells and internal connectors etc.
@OZToolTalk
@OZToolTalk 3 года назад
No problems Matt. Yeah something about the cell chemistry pits total stored power (in Ah) against instantaneous power (Amps) against each other. You can't have both maxed out in one cell.

Thanks for your review, came in to market a little late, because I am already set-up for DeWalt. I am thinking to sale the DeWalt and buy one of this, because DeWalt has a few things with anointing me so much. You are talking about the ripping fence, the problem with that fence one plunge saw it is that it's problematic to keep the saw down and pushed on the same time.. One good futures one DeWalt is that second generation has a remote control integra in so starter's the DeWalt flexvolt vacuum one the same time with the saw . Metabo cordless vacuum has a similar function, which is working via vibration , the price one Metabo is around 1000 sterling pounds with 2 batteries, but if you are invested in the platform Metabo it's a better solution , if I had the possibility I changed to Metabo Tools today, because I had enough with DeWalt.

What exactly is it that annoys you on the dewalt saw?
@MrDINODINO74
@MrDINODINO74 Год назад
@trashes_to_treasures ... firs one is jumping from the track one the end and beginning, because of the adjustment nobs, you need 400mm before cutting and 400mm after. Dust collection is around 80 % Battery is in the way of my hand . Changing the blade is a pain. The ripping guide is copying Festool and Festool accessories cost an arm and a leg . The tracking has to be 3 metres because connecting 2 does not align perfectly, you need to tape it, so dose not make a step left or right .

#mafell g´day guys, just found your channel after leaving oz half a year ago. i would love to hear you guys reviewing mafell, especially the kss 40 as i am planning to buy one. i gather though that as of yet mafell products are not too easy to get in oz yet. i know the guy from furnitecture let his come from germany. i talked to a metabo ingeneer on friday an he said this saw hit like a bomb, meaning they sold heaps of it since release. i will probably get it even though i planned to go all mafell on handsaws. all else will be metabo maybe starmix but cas definetely. thanks for the explanation on the batteries. will check next time i talk to my metabo consultant. cheers from the black forest, germany, not too far from the "bacon belt of tools" around stuttgart, swabia.

@OZToolTalk
@OZToolTalk 2 года назад
cheers Marvin. I suppose I would counter with a question back to you: why should the higher Ah number have a larger power output? e.g. a car's gas tank size has nothing to do with the power of it's engine. tool battery tank size and output power aren't totally disconnected like a cars is, but larger overall energy often comes at the cost of instantaneous power. there are articles around you can search up. I bet toolguyd would have a good one.

My track saw is still the old electric variety. All the cordless ones are so dear unfortunately. Would like one but hard to justify the cost. I don't carry my track saw daily anyway only load for specific jobs. If you were old like me and built houses with a few hand tools and a circular saw as was the norm. I still do most of what you showed with the simple circular saw. Either free hand. Rip fence or straight edge. If money was no object. The new Makita 40v track saw I reckon would take some beating.
@OZToolTalk
@OZToolTalk 3 года назад
Hi Dave. I also only list mine on for specific jobs. Most days a circular saw will do. A clamped straight edge was my go to for years. But wow a cordless track saw is convenient!

Hey guys, you didn’t really explain the 5.5Ah vs 8.0Ah vs 10Ah. They’re all 18 volt, so they’re all going to provide the same current to the motor. The Ah rating refers to how long the battery will last. (As you mentioned, the size of the fuel tank) I’d like some clarity on this as it really doesn’t add up.
@OZToolTalk
@OZToolTalk Год назад
Hi muz. You can do some googling and find the answer to your questions. Essentially, instantaneous power (watts) is the result of multiplying the volts (18v as you know) by the Current (amps). Battery cells are not equal, their slightly differing chemistry means they are capable of holding different total energy (Ah) and different sustained amperage. Usually, the higher the rated amperage (say 30A), the lower the total energy.

Really? A 5.5 Ah battery is more powerful than a 10 Ah battery with an identical chemistry and cell type? You obviously don't know anything about cells. What you call "power" and "grunt" means in fact the discharge rate of the pack. A bigger pack will always have a higher sustained discharge rate. Also, the voltage matters, a 36v 4 Ah battery will provide a higher sustained discharge rate than a 12v 4 Ah pack. And most new tool batteries use the 21700 cells instead of the old 18650 ones. You give wrong advice, unsubscribed.
@OZToolTalk
@OZToolTalk 3 года назад
Hi Daniel. They obviously DO NOT have identical chemistry. For some years it's been the case that manufacturers have had to have lower Ah batteries in order to have enough discharge (ampage) from the battery pack. Metabo have told me several times that the 5.5Ah pack is their most powerful. So I'm afraid you are incorrect on this occasion Daniel. Good luck.
@ChristNhero
@ChristNhero 3 года назад
"You obviously don't know anything about cells". Funnily enough, it seems like you're the one who has no idea. You're completely wrong. The 5.5ah, 8ah and 10ah batteries all use 21700 cells, but the 2750mAh cells used in the 5.5ah pack have a much higher discharge rate than the 5000mAh cells used in the 10Ah pack. So just as Oztooltalk stated, and just as Metabo themselves state, the 5.5ah pack has more power output than the 10ah. So in summary, Mike and Dwain are right, and you're wrong. You're an idiot. Good on ya
@ProtosR
@ProtosR 3 года назад
@@ChristNhero actually the 5.5 is technically a 6ah pack as it uses Samsung 21700 30T cells with sustained discharge of 35A where as the 10ah uses samsung 50E which have sustained discharge on 10A. so it is there most powerful pack. there 8ah is using Samsung 21700 40T cells which have a sustained discharge of 30A although the 8ah im not 100% sure on but besides the 10ah the cells used are basically standard across the brands, Milwaukee and bosch use similar cells
