nick that chaser and hoover is a great bit of kit cleaner and safer for health i was a sparky and have asbestosis with all shit ive worked with over years.
I have a Screwfix special, the Titan wall chaser and hoover. Does the job I need it to do. This kit looks soooo much better though. I would have thought it will do an inch wide cut for trunking instead of having to do two passes. Good review video though. Cheers nick 👍
Over here and the Republic of Ireland we use 25mm flat oval waving conduits. I personally find it Fare handier than using top-hat as it fits perfectly in the chase with a bit of expanding foam. Would not mind hearing some views on the preferred containment method in domestic installations. Noel W, Magnetech Solid Solutions Ltd
I have a Metabo wall chaser (different model) and I can rearrange the spacers from the cutting disks so I can get a wider cut. Check with yours if you can do the same... How’s the dust extractor, is it powerful enough to do 15 wall chases and still have enough power? I was looking to get a Hilti or a Festool...
Metabo states of their website it can cut up to 35mm width chases, so surely with some figuring it out, you could get it to cut just one chase, and fit your inch capping?
Fishbait075 It'll do a wider chase with 2 standard blades with a gap between, which means you still have to chisel out the middle! No biggy as that's how most wall chasers work, but it's probably quicker to do 2 passes with the stacked blade & not take an sds around the house with you too!
I have one of these, I find it hard to push up walls, (especially after a couple of chases)metabo I say it’s easier to push up but would thought down is easier🤔,anyone else found this?
I'm getting a much more expensive (£350) chaser to replace this cheap one I had by Silverline. But I will never achieve THIS (see link) with my Metabo because it's too abusive for such an expensive tool - I was astounded at this tools strength, I had underestimated it. The job was, to my mind, one to trash the old Silverline and send it to the scrappy, but .... it DIDN'T. Watch too and be amazed! Hi. Great vid! Watched a few of yours but hadn’t thought of the importance of subscribing so have done after your request! Greetings from a similar electrician set-up in Dublin !!
Metabo chasers are excellent as is the extraction unit. Had mine since 2011. A must for any spark. Use a pair of glasses you only get one set of eyes 👍🏼

@@ninav74 yeah buddy, so as you pull the wall chaser from the ceiling down to the box about half way I move the chaser to a bit of an angle and then back on itself, it doesn't have to be a lot but when you get it rite. The oval conduit will just hold itself in and you don't have to mess about trying to screw it back. Give it a go
I always use oval conduit when chasing, 16mm for lighting, 20mm for sockets, cooker etc. If you can change the width of the blades, you can get it to fit in so tight you dont need to use any fixings to hold it in place. Halves the amount of time it takes to 1st fix
@@paulneary703 yes whatever the outside width of the conduit, set your blades just slightly wider, say 1 or 2mm and the friction holds it in, depending on length of chase it might take one or 2 nails in the middle to hold it in but compared to flat capping it's a massive timesaver
@@paulneary703 they'd fit in the 25mm, you can get 2x 2.5 twin and earth in a 20mm quite easily, make sure the cables are nice and straight feeding them in as any twist or bend will jam it
@@codenamenel nice mate, got a kitchen rewire that i want to do on a radial as they want extras later on, easier to extend the radil than split the ring in this situation so was just hoping two 4mms fit in oval conduit. :)
Mate, I’m an older fella and always loved electronics. Watching your videos during lockdown has motivated me to make a career change into sparks - you’re a total legend so thanks for the content.
@@NBundyElectrical Yeah but don't you find when you ave a tool you love, you look for jobs thatyou can deploy it? Good tools inspire your modus operandi and feed into your workflow. Look at how Arri D-20 and the RED revolutionised the production cycles of the film industry with their cameras!
Have you got it to do something other than chasing? Because its values are great but if it is a one-job tool, ( Chasing), then I can't buy it, I just need it in one house and that's it, but if it is useful in many things, ( besides chasing), such as being just like a normal grinder, then I'll definitely buy it, I will hit two birds with one stone, ( I want a grinder and a chaser). Please, answer me, because no one is saying anything about this.
Those fancy cutting discs that remove the middle of the chase are made by Rhodius at 150 quid a pop and fit most other chasers according to the manufacturer.. Metabo ones are 100 quid a pop
Really impressed with these good video / demo. I’ve been looking at the dewalt but the metabo seems better and since I need power for the dust extractor why use batteries - however I have a dewalt dust extractor. Anyone modified the exhaust port of the metabo to fit the dewalt standard connector.
We had a chaser similar to this one when I was an apprentice back in late 00's and it was a relic! It had its own propriety blades but you couldn't get them anymore so my old boss use to have a guy re tooth the wheels for him. I snagged a hanging cable with it once and it just propelled itself up the wall and jammed into the ceiling, it was pretty lethal.
Wall chaser are the way forward. I do find though sometime the dust hoovers can be a nightmare and not the greatest after constant use. Be good to see if you have problems in the future with the Hoover 👍🏻😁
That's the beast! I said it'd change you 😂 Absolute result you got it as a freebie! I have the older model which can't handle the stacked disc & holy shit I'm jealous after seeing how quick it is!
the thing that gets me about UK electrics, is the switches, up is off and down is on "makes no sense" however your plugs are much safer than those here in the US and we should adopt them here.
I like the depth and the dust extraction, but it does take a lot longer and the chases don't really need to be so 'clean' considering it's getting plastered anyway. This would be ideal for 'lived-in' rewires
I noticed in your video you had a karscher WD6. Did you try it with the metabo MFE 40? I just ordered the MFE 40 cahser but the dust collector was over €850 on top, but I have the karscher WD6 and wonder if it will work well togther.
Great vid! I've been after one of these for a while, good to see a honest live action review from an actual spark. Have you though about using oval conduit? no need for the double chase =)
Yeah oval conduit goes hand in hand with a wall chaser. Narrower chases in general. You'd be buzzing if u rocked up to a rewire in thirty years and most of your drops could be pulled down existing oval conduit too 👌
@@NBundyElectrical Am I stupid? I try and always use ordinary 25mm round conduit. I'm waiting for the day someone notices my chases are more than a third of the brick depth though to achieve this monumental over engineering. And it affects my profit margin too, quite obviously I can't charge what I ought to for the superness of the finished result. Thinking I'll give oval a go too Nick. What would Adam do....?
You know!, for normal people who chase like 4 or 6 lines every month or more, dust can just make you cough and feel discomfort, but when you do this every day or 20 days a month, you'll be thanking those dust collecting technologies, and I believe many people don't realise that fine dust can really decrease the health of the workers in the long term of continuos exposure. In other words >>> Dust is not a joke, it is similar to smoking, except that it is not addicting and not cancerous.
I am trying to make the difficult decision on choosing between the Metabo and the Bosch GAS35 M class dust extractor, they both look great. I dont have any metabo or bosch tools so they need to have universal fittings. Does yours find to any tool?
The vacuum was overshadowed but is a useful bit of kit for any tool requiring dust extraction and has a clever vibrating filter self 'bang-out' function
I use 25mm conduit in the wall (handy for pull throughs when daddy diy spikes the cable with his new B&Q drill, etc.). 40mm depth works well, allowing for a 10-15mm coat of bonding compound. A little more effort, but nicer job 😉
hello on your advise and revieuw i boght the chaser en im actually reaky hppy whit it there is just a cwestion i have about it . it so happens i need to do some chases in concreete mondat . i now you schouldent but can you do it whit this chaser . hope i hear from you and keep up the good work .
It's easier if you use oval tube, that way you only need to run it up the wall once, I have the Bosch one, similar to that one, wouldn't be without it, it doesn't go as deep as that one, which is the only downside, other than that it's really good
Hi mate. Just a quick question about the dust extractor . Would you still recommend after all this time? And also does it require expensive bags and filters quite often or is it just a standard black bin bag and slide in filter like it appears in your vid. Thought I’d as the questions before I part with £450 lol
Curious on to why you dont use 24mm oval over capping as can easily fit 2x 2.5s down it and would be one chase never seen the benefit of capping personally unless its for more cables obviously then you have to do another chase regardless, not telling you how to do it as i know how youtube comments can come across just after your opinion is all cheers.
Where did you get the chaser etc mate ? . Could have done with this this week just finished a whole house raggling had guts full 😩😂. Good job as per mate 👍
Hi Mate great videos. I've been using a metabo chaser for a few years now. I've always gone down with the chase not up. Theres a small silver arrow by the Hoover as a guide I believe. Cheers
I like these wall chasers - a definite upgrade for any tradesman and to be honest an upgrade to everyone’s health too 🙌🏻 even a basic one is handy if you don’t do much chasing.
New £1600 !!!! , can get ex demo gear direct from sales rep. eBay between £350 and £700 go see before you buy though as description on ads is very variable.People offer some crap on there.
Careful ?
