MetaGuide is a software tool used for astrophotography and precise collimation of telescopes, particularly Schmidt-Cassegrain Telescopes (SCTs). It leverages a webcam or similar camera to provide real-time feedback on the collimation process, making it easier to achieve high accuracy. It utilizes realtime Stacking and Averaging of multiple frames to reduce noise and provide a clearer image for collimation.

Important notes: For regular SCTs (Not EdgeHDs) you would need to constantly keep the star in the centre of the field. Thankfully MetaGuide can do that for you! Another note: You can simply set the barlow lense value properly instead of changing the F-Ratio like I did. This point eluded me as the barlow was set to 0.7 which corresponded with the 0.7 reducer I was using.

Very interesting video. Thanks. Does MetaGuide control and move the mount to put the star in the center of the frame after each time you set the collimation knobs?

@@jesusnavasfernandez Sure, you can connect an ascom mount to it, calibrate the mount and you’re all set!

@@pigeond of course! The filter is only used to negate some of the negative effects of bad seeing.

As far as I know, MetaGuide only works on windows and there is no other tool like it out there. I would encourage you to suggest a MacOS version to Frank, metguide's developer. He is very responsive and helpful! Thanks for watching.

Great video but all I can focus on is that repetitive music, seriously mate you don't need it. It's like being in an elevator or being on hold just lose it altogether.
