Am I just seeing things or Jon resembles Misha Collins a lot when doing the paniking faces? Also, I recently saw Mortuary Assistant and that game had a problem with every character looking like a stereotipical model from stack photos or something, even the dead people... is there a chance that you'll make your MC with some noticable deformatiy to make him look less like someone from an advertisment? Like making a seriously asymetrical face or some features that most people would find much less appealing or even call ugly for their unusual shapes? I think stuff like that is a huge thing that's missing from all these stack characters and character creator models.

I'll of course search that stuff for John, but it's important to keep the main character as relatable as possible - so it would be easier for you to project his experience on yourself. So a specific deformation of the face might break that immersion. I think the biggest issue John has at the moment is the perfect super-fresh haircut, like he's just left a barbershop. I think I'll replace the hair completely

@@BoroCG I am not sure I agree with the statement that a character having a physical deformity makes it harder to immerse yourself in that character as a player. There's a lot of games which put you in the shoes of radically different characters and still provide an immersive experience. As an example, There's this game I played not too long ago from about 2014 called "Styx: Master of Shadows". It's a stealth game where you play as a butt ugly goblin and have to sneak around in a world where everyone's bigger than you and sees you as a monster. I was significantly more immersed in that game than I have been in a lot of other games which have player characters who I should relate with more on paper. The reason being that the gameplay and writing made the character I was playing feel more real. Making a relatable and immersive character for the player to project themselves onto has very little to do with the character looking like the player. It has to do with how the character writing and gameplay draws the player in.

The game is getting really cool! I like s lot the design of John, he just gives that frightened look in the little details like the eye bags. Can't wait to find out his story and clothing!

If you have pictures of a face you can use face builder to recreate it, this mesh can also be sculpted in blender to make it look closer to what you had in mind and then send that mesh to mesh to meta human plugin. I did this and I thought to share

You don't need to work on every LOD level. Just export without the LODs and then recalculate them in the engine when you re-import your model. The engine handles LOD generation automatically.

Nah, it is volumetric fog of course - it casts god ray shadows and everything. I even tried removing all fog and only use a small volumetric object that starts and ends before the shadow area - and it still, when put between the camera and the shadow, exposes details that are supposed to be black

I might be wrong but i think unreal has options to create objects with less detail for you. probably doesn't work to well with a character though.

It’s messed up because you messed with lod 2 you have to delete all the lod you don’t need in blender and export lod 0 where you make all your changes

Yeah I wanted to check if I can send over all the LODs at once. Which is possible, but you have to parent all the meshes to an empty with a specific custom parameter defining it as a LodGroup. Overall there's a bunch of stuff to do with the model to make everything work, including converting the Unreal's FBX in Autodesk's FBX Converter 2013.3 to make shape keys not disappear in Blender. Game Dev fun!

@@BoroCG yea way to much to do, but I wouldn’t even bother doing it that way with the new metahuman converter you can make a sculpt of a human like thing and make it metahuman. Good to see you again tho! Love you blender art series for your game.

I try to avoid doing the basic realistic stuff manually when possible, and only adjust/edit them to fit my design. Game dev is too big of an endeavor to waste time on copying reality imo

What we have here, is failure...to communicate. Which is the way they like it. I think boldly, that the meta verse will be the tipping point of humanity. Not society, as society just reflects human behavior as a catagorialized group. It's the numbers game. Humanity is the group that matters,. As it's in the category of actual physical matter material. With that being said, the meta verse is literally going to blur those two lines and civilization will crumble. It's in our history. But we are so far removed from history that they say it don't apply. Numbers don't lie, the matter at hand is that the matter material matters just the same it's just deceiving. This causes the desire to escape. Biblical speaking heaven is just the version of the simulation that has been of resistance and existence for all time. What happens if you get stuck with a virus? As in stuck for life?
