Robert Lloyd. Yes Maurice White was the lead singer of Earth Wind And Fire with Phillip Bailey. he was also the founder of the band and the producer as well. He produced most of their albums.
Kevin Lilly. Yes that doesn't surprise me. Singing in falsetto is really hard. I can't do it. it takes a lot of practice and talent. And musical skill. I would die if i tried to do that.
I grew up on classic rock, Led Zep, The Who, ect. I went to see EWF , invited from a friend, last minute thing, it was 1974. That night, my life changed, I'm serious. I never saw such energy, tightness, and musical perfection as I saw that night. Been a fan all these years, seen them at least ten times live. They still tour, but not the same as years ago. The founder Maurice White passed away some years ago from Parkinson's. They will always be one of my favorite bands, as they continue to sing about brotherhood, love, and positive aspects of life.
Hey Brother, I was at all 3 of E,W&F concerts at the Oakland Coliseum Arena when they played this live version of Fantasy! When Phillp Bailey started his vocal solo and the band jumped upland down, the sold out Arena crowd went wild!! At the end of the song the crowd gave Phillip a standing ovation!! I'll never forget this performance and it was one of the many life changing concerts they performed. I highly recommend you check-out thier live performance of Magic Mind, it will blow your mind!!!😊😊😊
Reasons live by Earth Wind and Fire is just a epic song!! And if you want more from Phillip Bailey if you have heard of the song Easy Lover that’s him with Phill Collins. Also the other lead singer is Maurice White also a phenomenal singer.
Many babies were made from these guys recordings... Old school music from when ya mom and dad was still together lol if you like them try frankie beverly and Maze "happy feelings" or "before I let go" or "We Are One".... One of my favorite jams from them ... There are live versions of the songs.
They were still touring up to last year.EWF and Chicago toured together as one group playing each others songs a few years ago.Philip Bailey(falsetto) and Maurice White(Rip)were the lead singers.
It's good to hear someone comment, on the music, because of the lyrics, saved me from from myself, as a teen. 54 now, and I still need their words. Great Job God bless the U.S.
I just came from your Marshall Mathers lp reaction. You're a real one for doing Earth, wind and fire too one of my favorite groups. And some of the best music ever!! Keep growing your channel dude you got the support
Oh and EWF is a national treasure haha. Thanks for reacting to them. The have so many awesome songs. And they are still around as well. Some of the original members have passed away but there still going. They also did a co tour with Chicago not to long ago.
The Phoenix Horns are one of the best brass section ever. I really appreciate your reaction. EWF was the real deal. I recommend you the studio version of "Serpentine Fire".
So very, very happy you chose them! I can't tell you how many people would be unable to unwilling to appreciate this group. Thanks and keep up the good work!
Someone just post this on EWF's Legacy FB page. The percussionist/singer was the founder of Earth Wind and Fire, Maurice White. Maurice passed away February of 2016, a few days before EWF was given the Lifetime Achievement Awards by the Grammys. The falsetto voice is Philip Bailey, who still sounds amazing and is one of the three original members still touring to huge sold out concerts. Verdine White, the bass player and Maurice's brother and Ralph Johnson, percussions and vocals are still with the group. They have an amazing musical director, Myron McKinley and the whole band is incredible, you MUST see them in concert!!!
I'm a rocker chick from the 80s. But I grew up on EW&F. First music I remember listening to. Reasons is my Ma and Daddy's song, and I remember sitting on the kitchen counter as a toddler watching them dance to this song. Earth Wind and Fire is a part of who I am.
Dear Metal Biker Dude...this song was a staple in the College and High School Marching Band line up! If you thought the horn section in this band was fantastic...imagine a band of 250+ blasting this LIVE! My band director had multiple songs from EWF in our song selections! This is classic and I LOVE this band! Many great memories from Earth, Wind and Fire!
Metal Biker Dude Reacts They are fantastic live. If you ever get the opportunity, you should go see them. Philip Bailey’s still got a strong, rich falsetto and the musicianship is excellent. Their show is energetic, colourful and the music and message abounds with a really positive vibe. They also pay homage to past members beautifully. I walked out feeling like I’d just shared in something really special. Belated happy birthday btw. I celebrated well on your behalf! LOL
My fave group of all time. Was so good watching a cool, rocker dude such as yourself enjoying this most wonderful group of exceptional musicians and singers. Their genre is unique and an eclectic mix of many types of music from various countries.
I thought I saw someone else who was also singing, not normally what I'd listen to but they are extremely talented. I do enjoy RnB especially the stuff from the 80s and 90s.
aaronrush2007 yeah that was Maurice White. He’s the other lead singer of the group (they had two) and he is also phenomenal. Phillip Bailey the guy featured on this song also has some good solo hits and his own career.
So. In the studio all the background vocals and lead vocals are done by Maurice White and Phillip Bailey, but on stage it's up to 4 people singing background
Your reaction to the amazing EWF was great!! Listen to “Imagination.” Philip Bailey is the falsetto singer, the guy on percussion was actually the normal lead singer.
Been watching a bunch of your videos lately, from comedy to rap. I appreciate your honesty, good humor and humble approach to new stuff.. Old metalhead myself, but also a 80s/ 90s Hip Hop head 😅 Salute from Oslo, Norway 🙏🏼❤️
Hey Biker Dude, just found your channel, and your EW&F reviews. I am a 60 some year old white guy who has been listening to EW&F since the mid 70’s, one of the greatest bands and surviving the test of time bands ever. You have been playing classic old school EW&F the original members including the founder the late Maurice White. Their concerts the last 10 years have been just as good. The ultimate concerts are the Chicago & EW&F playing together, doing each others songs, its like a 30 piece hybrid band of two of the best bands. EW&F=Incredible rhythm, the brass horn section & percussion, the legendary Verdine White on bass guitar, and Phillip Bailey is the VOICE he does it effortlessly.

I grew up in 2 different households, my mom’s was the R&B house and my dad’s was the Rock house. I really consider myself so lucky to have been exposed to so many sides of music because I now have such a vast library to enjoy !!! So very cool to watch you experiencing something that has moved me for the better part of 45 yrs !!! EWF is my happy place, sun comes out and it goes on in the car !! My mom took to this concert back in 75’ / I can still remember the space ship coming down and them coming out in those costumes, so amazing !!! Enjoy your trip Metal Dude and please go to church and react to “Imagination” by EWF as well !!!
The light skin guy (Maurice White) on percussion, is EWF FOUNDER, LEADER, CO-LEAD VOCALIST, PRODUCER, HEAD-WRITER AND DRUMMER OF EARTH, WIND & FIRE. Please listen to the original studio version of the song Fantasy - from the '77 album titled "All 'N All".
The light skin guy was maurice white he was lead singer of the group along with . Maurice was the brain child of the band he great singer composer musician prodicer. Maurice also had produce for other artists. They always have a message in their songs very deep concept all about. That's why they name their band earth wind fire. Unfortunately maurice white passed away back in 2016 long illness of Parkinson's disease. The band formed like in 1969 still performing and recording until day they stood the test of time.
Should check the studio version as well. Phillip Bailey (dark skinned lead singer), is probably the most acclaimed of all the falsetto singers. Franki Valli of the Four Seasons, of the previous generation, may also be as known, especially with Broadway musical Jersey Boys fame. The lighter skinned harmonizing guy is the late Maurice White, formerly jazz drummer who became the founder & leader of Earth, Wind & Fire. In addition to playing timbales & percussion in concert, Maurice would usually have a moment or song when he played the African thumb piano called, Kalimba, which he also wrote a song for. The traditional name of the instrument is called, ‘mbira’. Great reaction!
Maurice White (the light skin guy) and Philip Bailey always harmonized well. Maurice White passed away in 2016 and Earth Wind and Fire do still tour. A friend of mine in Vegas recently went to one of their shows. Also, I have to say in all honesty, this is one of many songs from this band I've grown up with, and to see you genuinely enjoying their performance, to see it in your eyes and written all over your face gave me goosebumps! No lie, that's how I could tell it was real! The song already gives me goosebumps, but your reaction was what did it.
I'm just finding you, but I want to tell you something. Earth, Wind & Fire are also called "THE MIGHTY ELEMENTS OF THE UNIVERSE!!!" I've really enjoyed watching your reaction!
The fact that you are a music guy you have the ear and respect,.,,.,....,,,btw by the end mind blown please dig great band ........,. nothing goes over your head
I have just subscribed to you because I love Earth Wind & Fire, I'm a woman in her mid 60s and I've experienced all genres of music I've taught my children all genres just this weekend I made my son introduce Earth Wind & Fire to my grandchildren that are 4,6,an7 it blew my mind how all three of them jumped up and started dancing, music is the one common thread we all have in common. THE RANGES ARE FROM FAMOUS SAMMY DAVIS JR. WHAT KIND OF FOOL AM I, TO LIVE FROM DARYL'S HOUSE, BUFFALO SPRINGFIELD,, DINAH WASHINGTON, BETH HART, LOGGINS & MESSINA,, GENESIS, CHRIS STAPLETON, ANITA BAKER, AMY WINEHOUSE, ED SHEERAN JASON MRAZ THERE'S MILLIONS THAT I'VE GOT A FEELING THAT YOU HAVE NOT EXPOSED YOURSELF TO SO SIT BACK AND ENJOY THE LIVING HELL OUT OF IT. GOD KNOWS I HAVE. 😎🎶🎶🎶👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
They were the 2 lead singers in the group. Phillip Bailey is the dark skin one and the other light skinned guy was Maurice White. You could call his dying a falling out of sorts. The good thing about music and movies is it will wait until you are ready for it. I got to see EWF perform the live once and it changed me. They have many more songs and you will love them as I do. A good song to hear Maurice W. sing lead is a tune called All About Love. Enjoy the trip baby!
Anderson Paak his album Malibu it is sooo amazing and soulful it's like nothing you ever heard before and at the same time it reminds you of old school r and b
Welcome to the elements sir!!! The light skin guy is the genius.. the late great Maurice White...dark skin guy,the fabulous Philip Bailey!! The elements of Earth,Wind and Fiyah!!!!!!!
Am I trippin or am I hearing countless samples and "Renditions" the came out of this song/performance...? Like I've never heard this, yet I've heard it in pieces... That's the feeling I get.
As far as your "Falsetto" comment.... I immediately thought... hold on to your hat..... You have not heard his falsetto yet. Got to see them in concert a couple of years ago. Only a few of the originals present, but the band still is incredible.
You're very welcome MBD. Im just diggin' the fact you are opening yourself up to all these classic hits from different genres and I love seein' u diggin' them too.
If you like horns and this band check out a concert of Chicago and Earth, Wind and Fire Live at at The Greek! Double horns, drums, and vocals. They start together, each band does a set, drum battle in-between and then the concert closes with both bands together! It is Epic! Being a lover of ALL music, Philip Bailey in his realm to me is like Bruce Dickinson is his! Monster vocals.
"they're really good" errr, yes fella they most certainly are really good. in fact many levels above really good. Cant believe you're American and dont know the mighty Earth Wind and Fire ?!? I'm English and obviously a rock nut,but we ALL love our American soul music too. They go hand in hand for us.Music is colour blind, and thank fuck for that. I suggest you check out more EW&F and blow your mind.
