The weather is turning and it is getting colder where I am - but that won't stop me from getting out there!! Thanks for joining me on another adventure, everyone 😄
I'm spoiled with warm water and weather mostly year round! Lucky I guess 😏. Was wondering if your thermals are probe frog skin pants? If they are how do you like them. Water is still a bit nippy here to be in for more than an hour or two without the shivers , so I am still sporting my wetsuit. Nicely done on your hunt! ⛏️🪙⛏️
@@marcshea8921 I haven’t had a chance to try the frogskin range yet, these are the Sharkskin Titanium Chillproof which are meant to be the thermal equivalent of a 5mm suit. I took the full set diving in 14°C water before I got my wetsuit 😂
It is starting to get colder on the southern edge of Australia, it won't snow where I am but it can get fairly chilly! I'll keep detecting anyway! 😂 Cheers.
That brass thingy is a bearing slipper from a piece of machinery. There are two of those bearing slippers for the shaft, that they are bearing can fit through. That square thingy is a cell out of a large dry cell battery. You have topo much fun there should be a law.LOL
That fuel tap cleaned up very nicely...congrats on that and the old silver! I don't have any dinosaur jokes, but I did formerly have a parakeet ("budgie" for Aussies? as with the Brits?) that we named "The Pterodactyl" 😁 P.S. Too bad that stingray didn't leave behind it's stash of $2 coins. I've heard they're pretty frugal. 😁
haha that budgie (yes you got the terminology correct for us!) sounded like quite the character! The rays have probably swallowed a few coins by accident in the past, I'm sure. 😅 Thanks mate.
Miss Nora fun to see you and Mish comment back and forth from time to time. You should take Mish on a Nomad dive trip vacation to some warm, clear water, & tropical location, that would be exciting!
Gday Mish. The brass thing is a split bush. Goes over a shaft and sits in a casing. 2 halves. One on the top will have a hole for oil or grease and the other goes in the bottom casing. They are split so you don’t have to strip everything off the shaft to put it in position. I think the square thing with the rounded corners is from an old battery. Even older than me. Cheers “Dad”
Thanks "Dad"! That makes sense. My hands were covered in grease by the end of this hunt lol but the tumbler made good work of it (and then I had to clean the tumbler itself, but that's another story). A few people chimed in with the battery guess so I'm rolling with that. Cheers mate :)
Great hunt even though the weather wasn't the best, the little pendant is cool and I wondered what the white lead was on the machine, so it is an antenna is that right ? xo
Hiya Deb, thanks for popping in on the live too! :) Yes that's correct. Unlike the Equinox, the Deus 2's coil connects wirelessly to the control unit, so if it's not submerged you don't need any cable at all.. the antenna cable is just so that you can still get a signal if the coil (or the whole machine!) is underwater. Knowing how often I like to go splash, I'll probably work out some sort of solution for keeping it permanently rigged up but I'll dress it up a bit too. 😁
On the to-do list Ray! The weather is a little wild for me to cast them at the moment, I melt them outdoors so I need a completely calm day with no chance of rain - and no detecting plans for the same day. 😂 Cheers mate.
Good day Mish I was wondering all the sinkers you melt down dose it make you sick, I think your mystery item goes over the cam on a motor there is a another bit the same that that bit and & the piston rod bolts to gather and that is the short of it. Hope you can understand that mumbo Jumbo of the of the storey of it
I'm very strict about having adequate respiratory protection when melting lead Phil, I have a proper respirator that can block vapour as well as particles and I also do all of it outdoors in an open space. Thanks for the ID mate. :)
Nice hunt. Just got my XPD2 wet as well. Still getting the settings down. Put it in dive mode around knee deep, beach mode about coil deep. Still a bit noisy but not much and it is more the end user than the machine at this point.
Awesome! I’ve been wading with mine (haven’t published a video of that yet), I found Beach mode the best at waist deep for me, flicked the salt sens down a couple of notches when it got a little chatty. Diving mode if I couldn’t settle it down, or if I’m actually diving (that’s yet another video I haven’t released 😂). Happy hunting mate.
@@DirtFishMish Hey,greets from Germany.I have only the XP ORX but I know that when you using Beach mode, you can switch to D-dry beach or W-wet beach.Maybe you know already?Nice video again. 😉👍
@Metaldetecting_NRW - that isn't a setting on the Deus II, but the 'Diving' mode is designed for hunting underwater. It is the least sensitive of the Beach programs, but still does a decent job from what I've observed so far. Then there's Beach Sens, which is the deepest-punching Beach mode and it has a higher spread of frequencies (more likely to pick up fine gold). Cheers!
What you might do is get a small spray bottle or whatever size you prefer, will it up with seawater and when you find a coin 🪙 and I hope lot's of them, spray the coins off to get the sand off or even loose dirt. Just a thought. I've seen some people do that on other videos. 😊
Go get a golf ball sack that has mesh holes in it and put your collection into the bag and the dirt will go through the mesh holes and your collection will come out a lot cleaner when you finish for the Day.
WHAT KIND OF METAL DETECTOR ARE YOU USING, I'VE NOTICED THAT THE CONTROL BOX BUTTONS ARE DIFFERENT ON THE ONE YOUR USING COMPAIRED TO THE MINELAB 800 BUTTONS.
That is one half of a bearing from some kind of engine. There would be two of them around one of several bearing journals on a crankshaft, and held in place by a saddle cast into the crank case and a bearing cap. Solid bearings like this can stand heavier loads than ball or roller bearings, but generally at lower RPMs.
Howdy Mish, What game do dinosaurs like to play with humans? Answer - Squash. I reckon our weather is about even now. It's chilly here too but it's getting warmer. That was a fun and interesting hunt. Everything from old boat parts, to silver jewelry, to coffee money and of course sinkers. Is that beach on a bay or is there an island out there? Take care and have a great seek (pun or typo?) - roelf
Love the joke 😂 I’ll have to play coy on the location info unfortunately Roelf, playing close to home and all! I know you’ll understand. 😊 but I agree, these hunts are my favourite type - far better than getting the same target every time. Cheers mate. 😊
Anytime you can get outdoors is a good time. Still quite cold here near Chicago but getting there. I had a quick question if you don’t mind? Have you ever tested the Garrett brand of metal detectors? Was just curious. Have a great day!
Hi Bob! I personally haven’t used any of the Garrett range sorry, none of my detecting buddies have them either. They are sold here but given that Minelab’s HQ is in Australia, ML has a very strong presence here compared to other brands. Cheers 😄
I like the way you think out of the box, like when you can use that brass piece for display purposes! Yesterday I dug an intricate brass leaf that sits perfectly..a nice new bead/gem holder!
Really? I had a look, and it would appear that 'day-uus' is the Latin pronounciation for it, the French (of which XP originates) might pronounce it slightly more like 'dee-uus' but never like Zeus ('zyoos'). I've not heard it pronounced the alternate way. Might stick with the way everyone is saying it for the time being :) cheers mate.
Great video mish !! I just came back from detecting and I found my first pre-decimal coin !! It’s a 1948 kangaroo penny I’m so happy !!! And Pune lots of Goldie’s and modern day coins
Thank you and welcome! 😁 I hope you and the grandkids are having a blast on your adventures, I myself have been having some great detecting with friends this week. Cheers mate. 😁
Hi Brad, I wanted a new challenge but I also needed a decent coin/relic machine that was submersible more than 3 metres (this one goes to 20M). So it was just a case of finding a machine that suits the majority of my needs. Nothing against ML. Cheers mate 😁
A new beach hunt video! I love it! I am really enjoying the fast and Beach programs. I like to change the tones two full terms and add square. I really like how iron sounds with the square tones. Great fines! Thank you for braving the weather for our entertainment🤗
I'm thinking that five tones (square) is more my jam, personal preference, excessive noise breaks my immersion a little bit so full tones just gets me frustrated. 😆 I do adjust the breaks though to suit what I'm hunting for. I'll be braving it in a lot colder weather than this don't worry, there's a video here on my channel where I hunted a similar location in just 4ºC (39F) weather. I'm just sulking because it's the start of the seasonal change here. 😂 Cheers!!
@@DirtFishMish Siri really screwed up what I was saying! It’s like when you hit send, she changes what I wrote at the very last second! I have played with three and five tones as well. Good stuff. You’ll get that puppy dialed in just the way you want it! I would love to hear the tones when you’re swinging. Are you leaving the speaker off to preserve battery power? You can use the headphones while the speaker is on. Also, we were talking about the MI 6 the other day and how it links through the headphones. A wonderful feature but I’ve been having a couple issues with it. Every fourth or fifth time I turn the Pinpointer on it fails to connect. I have to turn it back off then turn it on again. I am still using the original version six, I have no intention of updating until the bugs are worked out.
@@glaflamme I leave the speaker off so as not to attract attention, I find a) I can’t get any filming done due to everyone coming over for a chat when they hear it, and b) I’m also the sort of person who leaves their phone permanently on silent mode because excessive noise bothers me. 😊 I have heard of those connection issues being fairly widespread at the moment, surely just a software fix in time. 😊
A few days ago, I found a one dollar bill in the same spot I found the gold ring a while back. The ground behind my car is getting to be a real honey hole. LOL!
Who needs a detector, hey? 😂 You'll end up looking downwards all the time at this rate! Can't wait to hear about what you find there next. 😉 Cheers Tana!
@@DirtFishMish I always look down. Whoever made up the saying, "Keep your chin up!" just wanted to find all the good stuff on the ground themselves. : ) I used to find things all the time, but now we have a huge homeless population wandering the streets looking for money and cigarette butts. The competition for finding things has gotten pretty tough. : )
I’m glad you spotted me also! Welcome to my channel. I do a mix of land, beach and underwater detecting so you never know what’ll come out each week 😁 cheers!!
Hey, Mish! Another great day with a little bit of everything! A nice silver pendant, some goldies, coffee money, an old ring and a poor man's ring! Of course, you also got your sinkers and Jack Daniels bottle cap. Any day wouldn't be complete without those. I see some other viewers also recognized the shaft bearing bushing for a crankshaft or rotating machine part. I sent a photo of one just for comparison. Now for your dinosaur joke.....What do Triceratops sit on? Their Tricerabottoms. Sorry. I figured out a while ago that the signals you get are based on several bits of information, but I always thought the material was the biggest determination of what the target is. That's why you block some signals out so you can concentrate on particular materials and not waste time on garbage. I also knew that size and position of the object also gave you certain signals you could key on to identify what the target was before you dug it up. Then there's depth, composition of the soil and even the direction of which way you swing. Put all of that together and you get a possible ID. I mention all of this because I was amazed when you said, "...figured it would be a copper nail but just want to show you how little those targets can get." In other words, just by the signal you knew it was copper. You knew it was a nail. And you knew it was a small copper nail......yes, Mish. Is it the new machine or are you just that good? I think it's you. Looking forward to your next adventure! Later, friend! Yes ,I could hear the waves......
You're going to be good at this detecting thing when you pick up a machine. Correct on all counts. My logic for the copper nail - it was a mid-high signal (copper is highly conductive so will give a relatively high tone, but the small size of the target reduces the ID a little compared to say a copper coin). The signals are clearer in one direction than they are on a 90º angled approach. They cut in and out super quickly (small target) and are a little bit jumpy due to the irregular sizing, nails also have this tendency to 'squeak' a high tone in among some lower tones. Lastly... similar weight targets tend to accumulate together on a beach, so where there's one copper nail, there's usually more. 😉 Nice joke. 😆 Cheers!!
1967 is a couple years too young for me! Crazy thing is I just found a 1966 with a wavy 2 while going through my toasty coin bowl. Nearly trashed but still as happy as. Really is worth checking every one. Great video and big effort in that chill. Cheers.
Hello from Knoxville Tennessee. I see your on the beach. A lot of interesting finds this week. Silver, coffee money and some sinkers and a lot of fun. I really enjoyed the video stay safe and I’ll be watching for your next video.
Another great vid Mish. How are you finding the deus 11 after using the nox? How are you going with the technology it has? I'm curious as to whether all the tech is really help with the finds!
A bunch of people want me to make a comparison video so I'll definitely do one of those, but long story short, absolutely loving the learning curve and (in my opinion) it seems to be finding stuff I've walked over previously with the 'nox. Cheers Tim :)
Goodmorning Mish, the only dinosaur joke I can think of was from Jurassic park, something to do with a doyouthehesawus rex, sorry Mish, thats all ive got. no sunshine here for a couple of days either, almost feels like winter, Brrrr! Oh! bottle caps, my arch nemesis, just when you think you might be on to something good, I once threatened a tom piper bottle cap with a black eye, him with his jaunty robin hood cap and smiling face, im sure he was mocking me, Cheers Mish!
I've had a few Tom Piper caps myself so I know exactly how enticing they can sound while in the ground!! Cheeky sods. It has been so cold this week, I've had to break out a heater at work for the first time this year in recent days. Ah well, should make for nice empty beaches for me to wander along - if I don't mind getting swept away!! Cheers mate.
@@DirtFishMishIve just made myself spend the last 4 hrs trying to edit my films, only to have it glitch on me and wipe it all away, I think I will have to save it every 20 min or so, just to prevent the the total loss, but my heater is going right now and im warm and comfortable, I think I would have been better off cold and detecting, at least I would be happier than I was a few minutes ago, Ahh! cold or warm, detecting a vacant beach sounds like heaven to me right now, there's a few hrs of daylight left, I just might head out and revitalize myself, 1 coin would do the job, Cheers Mish!
@@DirtFishMishStepped out the door, and the rain began to fall, About Face! quick march! straight back to the couch and heater, and start with the editing again, What can possibly go wrong, he says, with a worried look upon his face, Sorry Mish, I wimped out, but thats not to say I wont find those coins tomorrow. wimpyness permitting, Cheers!
hehe, it actually frustrated me seeing that when I was editing. It is a dive watch however, so even though it wasn't tucked in it is still designed to be a fairly secure connection. 😊
