Awesome video! The broken clear bottle (at 9:47) is a western whiskey "Louis Taussig & Co San Francisco, CAL." I would say this bottle was made between 1905-1915. I believe Louis Taussig went out of business when prohibition shut down liquor sales down in 1920.

The weighted object is a clock pendulum. It's complete as is. The hook end latches on to a suspension spring. The knob on the bottom is for making small time adjustments by raising and lowering the weight. It's likely from a mantel, wall, or similar sized clock. It probably made of brass and lead.

In Nevada if the BLM, Bureau of land management, maintains a grated road then you can be pretty sure it is,a well traveled road. Since it is right by the mining sight, then its no surprise you have limited finds. Second I was taught at a very early age you do not reach blindly under a sage brush, ever. Rattlers do "hide" under them. Also thanks for making me home sick

For the bottles, the San Francisco half looks turn of the century at least, for the rest of them it’s hard to tell unless you get a good luck at the mold seam on the neck. As a general rule (while certainly not universal), if the seam ends before it goes up and over the very top, it’s pre ~1910. These are called blown in mold bottles because, well, they were blown in a mold. For the sake of simplicity, any bottles whose seams go up all the way are called machine made and date to after 1905, but most likely date to after 1910. In many cases there was a 5-10 year transitional period between the two methods, meaning some bottles produced as late as 1915 could still be blown in a mold.

@DrTones24k 4 года назад
I’m just documenting our day to day. I know i didn’t have to show it BUT I hope it does a couple things. 1: shows that snakes can still be conscious if/when you cut the head off. 2: So if you’re gonna do it, at least be a little kind and squish the brain too. I don’t want to knit pick here but how many of the people here that are flipping me shit for protecting my family have sprayed a hornet nest? Or squished a black widow? Maybe swatted a fly? How is that any different? Life is life. No matter the scale. We do what we do because we feel that it imposes a risk that isn’t worth factoring.
@DrTones24k
@DrTones24k 4 года назад

DrTones24k - I don’t go into the wilderness and needlessly kill rattlesnakes just because they’re there. And to joke about it before killing it shows no respect for nature. I’m the farthest thing from an activist when it comes to this, but something about that clip at the end has me bothered.
@DrTones24k
@DrTones24k 4 года назад
Chase Starling listen. I don’t go outta my way to kill them. I’m not going into the wilderness, killing and destroying. If I would’ve come across it anywhere else, I would’ve walked away. But when you got a youngin runnin round and a rattler on your porch, you have to protect yours. I don’t think you understand what happens to a snake bit child in the middle of nowhere. Unfortunately, as a paramedic, I’ve had to treat a child that was bit in the desert. I’ve never felt so helpless. Not much you can do. So yeah. If it saves my kid from getting bit, I’d do it 100 more times

Alkalic, not alkalitic from what I've learned but who knows, new words are coined every day. I just might beg to differ on the coin purse, looks more like a Victorian era woman's purse which housed most anything, not just coins. Then again, I could have mud on my face.

get in I only know the term alkalitic or alkalosis from my medical terminology as a paramedic. It’s a common term for the opposite of being acidotic. Above a ph of 7.45 we (humans) are considered to be alkalidic or are suffering from alkalosis. Just a term I had in mind that I presumed carried over? The coin purse on the other hand, I have no idea. Unfortunately I didn’t find much else around it 😔

hokie because I’m not going to risk it (or anything else) biting my 7 year old with the closest anti-venom being a 400 mile flight. We mitigate risk as best we can but when a rattler behaving abnormally, at night, on my porch appears, I’m not willing to see if it comes back or not. I felt bad. I don’t kill for sport. If it had been acting normal, during daylight hours, we would’ve eaten it. Again, not sure if it was sick or not so we, unfortunately weren’t able to make use of its meat either. I appreciate the concern. Please be thankful I had the knowledge and respect enough to smash its head in after I cut it off. Most people aren’t aware that, like the snakes body, the brain still remains innervated and conscious for hours or unless acted upon by an outside force.
