After detecting the main run of nuggets which consisted mainly of sunbakers and shallow targets l went looking for deeper ground, this area is more likely to be where the exposed wash has eroded to taking gold with it and burying other targets even deeper.

If someone told me that I would sit here for 15 minutes watching a man dig a hole.... It's just so much fun watching the treasure hunt!!! We have gold in California, but I love the Australian gold fields. Thanks for sharing!

hey mate, we have done a fair bit of detecting over the years in comfort and now we are putting our Commander up for sale, it is a great vehicle, reliable and safe, we have avoided caravan parks like a plague, we had the freedom of so many places that are hard to reach with the peace and quiet that comes with it, found some good gold and fished some amazing places. if you want to see a video on it visit RU-vid and search for: 4x4 motor home SLRV Commander , you will notice the new paint job and we have made a few upgrades, if you are interested contact us and do an inspection, you will not be disappointed😁

Very nice piece Russell. Great dig too. You've really got that GPX dialled!! I went out again with my SDC2300 on friday here in the vic goldfields and found 1.5 grams of gold including my largest nugget so far at 0.5g! i was pretty excited. Its a great spot and not well known. A friend of my dads who now lives in WA, has been prospecting for over 30 years told me about it and a few other locations. All of which he`s pulled numerous 10oz plus nuggets in the 80's and 90's. If your ever planning a trip down to vic, id be more then happy to take you out there. Keep the vids coming mate. Really enjoying them.

@jimmarshall5453
@jimmarshall5453 4 года назад
That's the first one I've ever seen where the prospector acknowledges striking the nugget with the pick. I know they are still above melt value, but how much does a pick strike knock down the value? Because of the sounds, it seems like there are other bits of gold both in the hole and the dirt you moved from the hole.
@TheNuggetMagnet
@TheNuggetMagnet 4 года назад
If its just a nick it will almost vanish once the nugget is cleaned up so no value loss there but l once chopped a four grammer in two so total right off that time, l always have a second listen after removing the main target, my record is eight l and can usually tell if there is more, eg.., this trip 2019 l hit 4 in one hole which l will upload next year, "the new secret spot" for now, cheers mate and have a great Chrissie.

Hi again mate, 1- so what's the longest you stay out in the bush before your supplies run out? 2- And regarding camping setups, are you a solar or generator kind of guy or both? 3- Communications wise, what equipment do you carry, use, rely on and for emergencies? Ie smartphone, EPLB? I flicked you an email the other day, in the middle of setting up my camping equipment for an extended prospecting season next year. Cheers Garry.
@TheNuggetMagnet
@TheNuggetMagnet 10 лет назад
Garry Irwin Gidday, normally 5 to 6 wks depending on how far out i go, l use both solar and a genset, solar shower, no ph, no internet, no EPLB, just a mobile when in town and GPS for the bush, l take spare everything just in case, but theres always something to learn for next yr, my setup is basic for accessibility and quick shifts till l hit gold, fingers crossed, thanks for commenting, NM.

Good stuff mate and thanks for sharing. Have you ever thought about using a "planter auger" they come in all different sizes and do all the digging for you. Just stick it in a good battery drill and off you go....it's accurate and fast and can go to 600 mm if need be....just thought I'd share that with you. Cheers. Ps, I'm really envious of you ....I've always wanted to do what you are doing. Good luck.

Hey everyone, Why does the metal detector keep making sounds even when it's not on the found? How are you meant to pinpoint where the gold is when it makes sounds all over the ground like that? I did notice that it had a deeper sound to it when it hit one spot in particular, is that how you are meant to tell you have found something?? Thank you =) LOVED this video by the way. Keep up the good work.
@TheNuggetMagnet
@TheNuggetMagnet 9 лет назад
The sound or THRESH HOLD is constant, when it hits gold, the sound gets louder, you must pinpoint gold first before digging, then dig straight down on target, when target is out of hole re-pinpoint in pile, sound is loudest, glad you liked the video, thankyou NM.

@TheNuggetMagnet
@TheNuggetMagnet 10 лет назад
Garry Irwin Gidday, nothing special, they are 12 ply LT,s, being split rims l take patches and spare tubes and sitting up high in the truck gives me a good vantage point for dodging the spikes, take it slow over rocky outcrops and you shouldn,t have any problems, when it rains heavy try to stay put because no tyres will save you, cheers for now.

People who live where gold occurs is so freaking lucky! I'd be at it day and night if I lived there. We have gold here in glacial deposits but it isn't even worth messing with. It got carried down from Canada. We literally have NOTHING in this area. Sandstone and limestone. Nothing else. =\

Gidday, if you search "Tengraph" you can download this "mines dept" software, l heard the system is changing in which case you would download that instead and this will show all leases LIVE, PENDING, DEAD etc, from there you can see all areas including "VCL,s which are free go zones" as are "pending", its self explanatory and a necessary tool to navigate thru WA, hope this helps and let me know, cheers NM.

well damn, misleading title. here i thought there was going to be gold here in WA, as in the state of which is stands for. but apparently someone misidentified western australia as WA instead of WAUS
