Metal Detecting Previously Hunted Sites

This is the first and last time I will have the opportunity to metal detect this site since in just a few days after this video was recorded.. the house disappeared forever and the grounds surrounding the house was totally rearranged. I did a little something different utilizing the MX Sport and V3i comparing signals and seeing differences in targets one machine over the other located.

Another great video. Got me in the mood for some Der Dutchman food. What a great place you live I visit every year for the last 18 years.

Thank you... LOL.. there is a Der Dutchman about 20 miles from my location. You must be very close to my area then when you do visit.. grab the detector when you come and if time and schedules permit we can hunt. Thanks for checking the video out. :)

I recently found your channel and have learned a great deal. Thank you for sharing. I only get out once or twice a year using an old Garret Master hunter CX3. The area I live in is pretty restrictive for metal detecting but I do manage to find a place from time to time and even if I don't find anything of value I seem to enjoy the hunt. As for the brooch you found. The design appears to be Art Nouveau dating from the 1890's to very early 20th cent. The original pieces were made in karat gold, sterling silver or base metal silver plated. Later copies were made using various metals but you piece appears to be an original Art Nouveau one. If there are no markings chances are it was made in the USA but France, Belgium and England also made this type of jewelry. Happy Hunting!

You are putting out some of the most informative and useful videos I have seen! Thank You! I really enjoyed seeing the 2 White's in direct comparison... I am currently learning the V3i, and have hundreds of hours with an MXT Pro, but want to add the MX Sport to the stable so that I can hit the creeks around here... I spent about 2 hours today using the V3i on an area of a permission I hunted hard last week with my MXT Pro and recovered 2 Mercs, and 2 War Nickels that day along with some wheats, and the V3i still found another War Nickel, 5 Wheat's and a complete Harmonica(a 1st for me). I'll be watching more of your video's because they are really helping me to figure out the V3i... Thank Again!!!

Very well done my friend, throw all your info into your video's and know that you are teaching others that are learning. Stay grounded and always explain the simplest things. Most that have been hunting for many years bypass the basics when they talk and end up losing the viewers interest, even if I already know the basics when I hear you explain them again it refresh my mind. I thank you for being so sharp minded out there and very professional. keep it up, you inspire me and others to do the same! You have set the bar for others to live up to!

Wow.. thank you very much for your kind comments.. I greatly appreciate them in the most sincere way a typed message can portray. :) I try my best not to group folks into one bundle as experience or as non experienced and explain at a level that everyone can understand. Sometimes I think I talk too much but hopefully it's not so... I'll never take on a manufacturer sponsoring my channel because I don't want to be told what I can and can't say. My goal is to portray and teach the hobby where I'm able so that expectations can actually be obtainable. I've seen too many folks get into the hobby believing their detectors pick up dimes at 15 inches deep and that they will come home with a pocket full of silver half dollars at the end of a 3 hour hunt every time... only to find that's not the case and sell their detector and exit the hobby quickly. I'll keep these video up as long as I can, thank you for your support in checking my videos out because without you and others watching what I'm doing... I most likely wouldn't be doing what I'm doing. Take care and HH.

Hi Squirrel! Apparently the front yard was hit hard but both machines proved there's always stuff left behind! Interesting test between machines! Brooch looks hand cast. Looked like the pin was on the back in the dirt and was brushed off, but need to recheck. Nice coins too! Spring must be close you're back to wearing cowboy boots! 😃
@squarenailsquirrel9638
@squarenailsquirrel9638 5 лет назад
Very true.. it's always that front door that attracts everyone. LOL I will try to do some more dual machine hunts like this from time to time especially in front yards like this where the grid is easily defined. I think that brooch is hand cast too, there are marks on the back that are possibly from a mould where it was hand poured. I'm not certain of that but it sure looks like it.. either way it's a cool find. Ha! yes, I had to lose the rubber boots for this hunt it was warm enough to get away with wearing my cowboy boots. :) Thank you for checking out the video and I will reply on your other message later today.

Thank you very much for your kind words. I had a suggestion by one of my viewers to try a video like this so my attempt in this video was "first attempt". When I see folks comparing machines by air testing and burying a coin it really isn't anywhere close to field use comparison and results. The difference of a target that's been in the ground with a mineral halo as well as nearby targets is a whole different story on how a machine will perform. Hopefully this video helps ease some concerns about the machines because just like you.. I have equal success between the machines. Thank you for checking the video out, greatly appreciated.

There isn't a better one over the other although I really like that the Sport I can use at every site but the V3i depending on moisture as well as EMI.. may not be able to use. Hello Kenny. You think just like I do. I always tell my hunting buddies the same thing. Someone always has to say it's been hunted before or hunted out. I believe the hunted part, but not hunted out. If I don't find anything one day, I'll come back with a larger coil or a different machine. You will find something eventually, if you take your time and be patient. Heck, put it in all metals mode if you have to, and get max depth if you don't mind digging a lot of junk. But you will find some goodies left behind. I know. I've been there, done that. Great video, great tips. H.H. _/

Having more than one machine does help out especially when the operating frequency and processors are different. Targets can respond very differently to the signal we are hunting with where one machine says.. maybe... and the other may say.. you need to dig this... I guess if you just dug everything then you would be ok and folks actually do that practice. I just don't have the patience for it although I do dig a lot of iffy signals. Thank you for checking out the video and HH.

@squarenailsquirrel9638
@squarenailsquirrel9638 5 лет назад
Thank you. I was surprised by the pin that's for sure. :) The comparison between the two machines went over pretty good after receiving positive responses in the comments on here. I really haven't seen many videos where anyone does this unless they are bashing one brand over another. My comparison like you say was "no prejudice" and only a comparison between the data levels, responses and language of the detectors. There is huge difference in how detectors will respond to targets dealing with what frequency they hunt on and even though the Sport and V3i are great machines made by the same folks.. you get very different target responses. Not that one is better than the other.. it's just that they are tools for the hunt utilized differently. I'm hoping to some day add another machine to the mix although funds are low currently. Thanks for checking out the video as well as commenting. take care.

Kenny - Another fantastic video. I am pretty bummed out now because I have seen all of your videos and am now waiting for more......No PRESSURE. It's fun living through your experiences and you are definitely the Rambo of detectorists. Since I am in the market for a detector, I took great interest in your comparing your two detectors. I am really anxious to find out what new detector you decide to get (hope the tax man was kind to you) and I hope you do some rigorous testing of it (once you get to know it) with your two existing detectors. Question - In your search for a new detector, have you come across any unbiased Consumer Reports type of sites that are comparing one detector to another using the same test bed?@@squarenailsquirrel9638

Yup, It's just south of where I am located although I don't get to detect down there much. Thank you very much for checking the video out. :)

Love your videos! You referenced a book I believe you called " How to find a place to metal detect". I can't find the book. Can you provide a link? Does it go by a different name?

Cool I liked the video I use the ATPRO and I know it's not that good damn thing lies all the time so I dig it all 😎

LOL, I may have an AT Pro before things are all over doing these videos. I like the machine and watch many folks on RU-vid that use them... I just haven't ever experienced using one myself although I'm sure it lies as much as my White's machines do. LOL Thanks for checking the video out.

LOL, I was kinda thinking that when I first swept the dirt away. Turned out to be a cool find and I'm thinking about taking it in to have a jeweler fix the pin. Thank you for tuning in to check out the video. :)

The broche again: I'd say, some silversmith probably borrowed the Barber-Design for a girl of his fancy

Didn't you see the pin on that broche at 7:46 and 8:07 ? Then you wiped it away. It probably did crumble, but it was there.

Someone saying a spots been hunted out or “you won’t find anything there” never stops me haha. Great video and finds, that pin is really cool. Did you figure out if it’s silver?

LOL.. don't let it stop ya because it's 9 out of every 10 sites I go to anymore these days. I haven't figured out if the pin is silver but since it was not tarnished or corroded like an alloy I believe it's silver. The weight of it as well as that soft almost clay like surface feel makes me believe it's silver. (Hopefully that clay statement made sense, for me when I find a silver coin that's been buried for a long time they feel that way) Thanks for checking the video out and wishing you luck on any hunts you have coming up.

I don't think they're ever hunted out completely. Seems that even little changes such as your direction you are walking while hunting, settings on the machine, different machines and the most important part of it all which I failed to mention in the video is.... mental game. When I go to a new exciting site for the first time I always detect way too fast where the second trip usually I can slow down and focus. There are other points to the mental game as well such as being upset before coming out to hunt by something going on in life or if your limited on time to hunt... things such as that can really effect how productive your are that day my altering your hunt style. Thanks for checking out the video and take care.

Found my $2.50 gold cent at an old home site that looked like a mine site from being detected before me! Haha no one can find everything!

A jeweler can fix that pin for you. Your wife would probably love something like that.
