In the last episode of History Traveler, we were exploring the grounds where the Battle of Jenkins' Ferry was fought as depicted in the movie "Lincoln". In this episode, we're going back to the battlefield with ‪@digginonfaith531‬ to do some metal detecting and see what we can unearth from this vicious fight that took place in 1864. What we pulled out of the ground must be seen. Be sure to watch to the end!

Note: for extended adhesive strength, always wrap the tape around and overlap it on itself. It sticks to itself well and wouldn't to fabric-like material. A 3 rounds minimum if you're gonna get it wet, and use a plastic bag over your sock when putting boot on. Worth the time, effort, and money, to have dry warm feet. Happy Trails! Hi I have been a fan and subcribed for some time now. I think your chanel is one of the best on RU-vid and a benchmark for other chanels to aspire to. I give lectures on the American Civil War and early modern history as well as living History and reenactment. I would love to see some content on the Salem witch trials, or on how reeactmet and living History is a way of keeping History alive and understanding the past. I am also a preacher for or the Presbyterian Church in Ireland and a chaplain friend keeps inviting me to NC. I would love to see Gettysburg some and think your partnership with the Gettsburg museum is fantastic, I would love to see it some day. I wish you all the best in your work in Poland and I am also excited about the content that you are posting from there. Keep doing the great job that you are doing. PS. do you have any merchandise for sale? God bless, Oscar

What are the chances that the Union soldier when he was crossing that river got his belt or something caught up on a log or something in the water and took that knife out to cut his belt or whatever to set himself free to get away. Which could explain why the bullets and belt and those other items were found right there? Maybe he dropped the knife to or maybe he got shot and passed away right there in that river

What a fun episode. My grandfather went to an event in Gettysburg in the 1930s. He saw a field that had been recently plowed and went into the furrows and found about 8 minie balls (the pointy three ringed kind) which he kept in his roll top desk. He would get them out from time to time to show us. After hearing that I always thought how much fun it would be to go digging like this with a metal detector near a battlefield. And according to your episode today, it is indeed fun. Any kid or adult who likes history would really get into this. When you expose a child or teen to close-up history like this it changes them in a profound way. I grew up during the 1960s when America was going Civil War centennial crazy and our parents took us on summer trips to various Virginia battlefields We went to Gettysburg on a school field trip but my parents also took us there. Another summer we drove to Canada and stopped at Fort Ticonderoga for an even earlier stop with history. Kids who grow up in the New England or mid-Atlantic states have so many sites and historical places of interest to visit if only their parents will take the time to take them there. It's a great way to get your kids hooked on history and off social media (unless they are on google researching historic sites!) This was an excellent episode. Thanks so much. I hope you got a new pair of boots!

A big hi from Northern Ireland, another amazing episode. I really love everything that you do on RU-vid. Have you ever thought of coming to Ireland to look at some of our history. I live near to the historic walled city of Derry/Londonderry and I think that you would love it here. History is not just the only passion that we share, I am an accredited preacher of the Presbyterian Church in Ireland and my faith is very important to me as well. I study Civil War History at Ulster University and my planed dissertation will be on how Robert E. Lee's faith and honour code and how it shaped his life and the way that he fought the war. Please keep doing what you do so well, I have a chaplain friend in NC who keeps asking me to come over to the US, but your show allows me to see places that I may not otherwise never see. Very interesting. I was particularly intrigued by the vial of sugar. There is a related story from my family, and it made me wonder...My great-great grandfather was wounded at the Wilderness. Before the battle, he sent meat to his brother in a Richmond hospital. Long after the war, it was found, preserved in his brother's knapsack. It was put on display at the World's Fair. I wonder if it was in a similar container.

Love this! I just bought 5 acres right behind the battle of trevillian station. I’ve looked at old maps and us cavalry fought on my property! Keep the great work up.
