1. Sundowner actually feels much more balanced in that there's merit in destroying his shields or not. You leave them alone and focus on Sundowner and you get a longer, but more manageable boss fight, whereas if you destroy them he both takes and deals *way* more damage, msking for a shorter but more hectic fight. 2. Sam is just straight up harder, but in a good way. He feels *much* more opressive and you have to dodge and block like crazy just to get a small opening. Which makes complete sense since Sam is the definition of a glass cannon.
Still suprised how agile sundowner is For ya know.... Posing himself to be human tank I'd say he is 2nd fastest after sam Raiden say's that gimmicky shit like scissor blade doesn't have place in real battle But let's be honest on battle field as a solider you don't expect the guy with fuckin reactive tank armour straped to his back to move like honeybadger on a mission
Sundowner moves like a cripple in the original boss fight. Same goes to main game Armstrong which doesn't make sense considering they are pretty fast in the cutscenes.
1:37 Minor detail, but changing the voice lines in the transition actually makes it so much better to watch. His weird little silence and his grunting as he does a little shake was always just a tad awkward to watch.
One thing ive always wished is to see a reload animation for Sam's scabard If they had just made the animation possible, you could do some silly shit like launch an empty cartridge at Raiden
i agree, theres a mag but we never see it get used at all its just a decorative piece even if its only cosmetic and isnt an actual collectable resource or whatever, itd be cool to reload the scabbard
I see it as an alternative to charging his power attack. Instead of waiting for a second, Sam have to reload his scabbard. I dunno, maybe it reloads for some time by itself or maybe Sam have to use his nonpowered version of attack. But this would make more justice for his fighting style lorewise
Improved Sundowner is pretty much what I expected from the boss when I was about to fight him for the first time. Also improved Sam is genuetly cool af.
Is no one going to talk about how hard 12:24 goes? Raiden keeps up the aggression until he palm strikes Sam away, and rather than pursue, we get to watch Sam catch himself, leap back into the fight right as a voiceline comes in. Perfection.
can you imagine how fast they are all fighting right now, like in ripper mode when raiden was cutting metal gear excelsus, he was moving around that giant sword arm with a disgusting amount of pressure, a normal person would probably have their ear drums ruptured. wtf how did vamp ever fight this
This is the thing, I thought the Sundowner’s phrase “I’m fucking invincible” is not entirely suitable for the moment of transition between phases, because behind this his feature is somewhat lost - coldness and cruelty, and the apotheosis of this should be the phrase “I will split you in two” after which he can say “stop playing” and approaches the battle much more seriously and prudently. And this phrase, as can already be understood from my reasoning, is much more suitable for his first, more “playful” phase, which is partly why he utters it only during it. So I would be very happy if you did it the way it was, I think it would be better. But other than that you did a great job and the sunset moment is absolutely gorgeous
Imagine if during the final phase of Armstrong's fight with Sam's sword, Raiden was in permanent Ripper Mode? Also do the upgrades for Sam's sword you acquire for later playthroughs count towards the last stage of the Armstrong fight?
Interesting. I noticed he can only get stunned by a perfect parry in phase 2. That, and he's super fucking tanky. I know that in the guidebook he was originally meant to have 10,000 health, and Monsoon has 1,900. Kudos to you for cutting through all that this fast.
Is it possible to make mod with non-static camera in Zandatsu mod? It will be better in active combat and you will not have blindzones. Also in ideal universe would be good to make normal camera mod or low opasity walls mod. :)
Sam barely had any cyborg enhancements, tanks 1000 hits like a champ and Raiden casually lost half of his health bar after a fall to the ground during Sam's unarmed phase lmao
You could make Sam take only a few hits then die but how do you make this engaging for the player? Lore accuracy would be a scripted button pressing sequence as a boss fight and we all know that doesn't fit in a game like MGR.
I hope you will remake Monsoon also. Like maybe he will be regular (not purple) until you hits him to 40%, then he will maybe start throwing a hail of debris at you so hard that cutting them will be pointless and the only option will be to dodge by running. And also Monsoon have the dodge animation (when he moves his body or when he jumps away) so you maybe can implement this to the last stages of the fight when he's lower than 40% hp and not purple.
You know what i would like to see, a sundowner fight like the one you showed here, but sundowner still wears his coat, i think it would look more imposing and epic, like a samurai. (Also to go more with the aesthetic, you could try replacing sundowners machetes with katanas)
defo makes the fights less cinematic cause the boss now spam more but honestly worth it if you want an actual challenge even with infinity wig and ripper mode
