Metal Gear Solid 3 Snake Eater - E3 2003 Trailer - PS2 

Best years of my life. It's crazy that I can watch this on a phone now.

God, this game. One of the few times camouflage actually worked. Sometimes I'd stumble onto enemies without even realizing they were there. Truly a masterpiece!

This was back when I used to get super pumped for E3 every year.

Back when we thought this was Solid Snake.

God I remember being blown away by this trailer in high school

There are plenty of concepts here that weren't included in the original, like the sky lantern used by the enemies to see Snake during night time at the aqueduct part, or the mist just a few moments after, at the entrance of the warehouse, which would make the reason enemies can't see Snake from that distance much more convincing. Konami could perfectly take all of this and add it on the remake, would be amazing!

"This is no Vice City"

The best part is that everything, every feature shown in this trailer is in the actual game itself as well. No bullshit, it's a straight demonstration of what the game is about. No downgrades or anything like that. I'd even argue Snake looks better in the final version. What went so wrong, bros? Why is it not like the old times now?

I remember when this dropped everyone went NUTS. People on the forums were analyzing everything frame by frame to get clues and Kojima sure anticipated this by throwing so much little details in there

Watched this trailer once a per week from the moment they published it until the game was released xD Started to get hung up on the simple things like kids usually do. "Why can't I choose whether to shoot the pistol from the hip or aiming down the sights?!", "Why doesn't the enemy use the flare-mortars?!", "Why won't the enemy soldiers die from one shot to the chest like in the trailer?!". Yeah, I was one of those kids. Loved every moment of the game, though. Stands as one of my all time favourites, even to this day.

I had this trailer on a demo CD from a local gaming magazine. I watched it over 100 times and was very excited about it. And I played the game to the fullest with all the hidden things. Still one of my favorite games of all time and I'm glad a remake is in the works.

spent half my childhood watching this trailer. and the other half playing this game.

Some say that the games that came out around 04-05 were the product of black magic. That the gaming industry got together and sold it's soul and in return over the next 2 years would be granted games so amazing their fire and replay value would burn forever through the ages. But after that they must forever serve as slaves to corporate greed until the end of time. Fair trade I say.

Without question one of the best trailers ever made in gaming. I will never forget watching this over and over and over on windows media player, everyday until the release of MGS3. Fucking love this game.

All these years later I still get excited watching this trailer. When the theme plays louder and he jumps off the waterfall...chills, every time.

Everything was epic in this trailer, from the music to the action itself, and the add of a survival aspect was really innovative! I've watched it a dozen times and bought the game the same day it was released, with that beautiful steelbook!

This game still has some of the best AI to date. The enemy soldiers had some of the most realistic reactions ever.

ah I miss the days when I was playing this game for the first time ever, it was like everything I had ever wanted in a game, all in one single game - awesome graphics (for the time), great storyline (I notice MGS3 probably had the least ridiculous storyline of the entire series - it felt like something that really could have taken place during the Cold War. The only ridiculous characters were the members of the COBRA Unit). The game mechanics were brilliant, and I never tired of having to deal with all of Snake's injuries in the menu by manually having to apply first aid in the shape of band aids and stuff to plug the bullet holes. The camouflage mechanic was great. Best boss fight was against the sniper (The End, from memory) and I had a great laugh at how cunning a foe he really was. Was at my mates place playing this and my mate was really into the whole sniper duel in the forest thing. So we decided to really test our abilities as video game snipers to hunt and kill him. We searched all three areas. Nothing. Then we could hear his voice and tried scoping him out. Nothing. I got out of the scope and realized the bugger was standing behind Snake, his rifle aimed at Snake. Hahaha my mate and I were like "WTF" before the sniper shot. Didnt realize what would happen if the tranquilizer wasnt dealt with. Learned the hard way. Back to the cells, then all the way back again to kill the sniper. But we decided to save and leave it for the next weekend and do something else. The next weekend we were back into it and ready to go take revenge on the sniper, only to discover he had died of old age and we were instead left without the chance for revenge hahahahah gave us a good old laugh, Kojima was a fking genius with this! We discovered other cool things - throwing live, captured poisonous snakes at unsuspecting guards, destroying food and ammunition storage depots and leaving food that had gone off to give the soldiers food poisoning, list goes on. It was cool that destroying the ammunition storage had an effect on the soldiers in a firefight, running out of ammo and using their pistols. Capturing soldiers and obtaining radio frequencies for artillery strikes, Game deserved 10/10 and really needs to be remade with current high quality graphics, but with the exact same game mechanics and some mechanics from MGSV

18 years later still THE BEST Metal Gear Solid game. Still have my copy.

fun fact, when this game was first revealed, they were passing around pamphlets giving information on the upcoming MGS3 and in it they were heavily teasing that the plot was Solid Snake time Traveled back to the cold war, but that rouge didn't last long as eagle eyed attendees noticed BIGBOSS was hidden in the capitalization of new sentences. This was confirmed by the 100% Independent PSM magazine crew who attended that E3

I played this game 3 days straight when I first got this. What a journey.🥰

A testament to the staying power of both the metal gear and gta series. Back in 2003 this video made a reference to vice city, now 20 years later we’re getting another Metal Gear and another gta set in vice city.

Watching Big Boss hanging on a branch, aim, kill a dude and then re-adjust his aim to his right whilst hanging made me lose my shit when this trailer dropped.. Still get goosebumps rewatching it.

Looks like I watched it yesterday. remember i got it here in germany from a Computermagazine - DVD in a local store. Since I loved to play MGS2, I must had that. Amazing times back then.

A few things that I noticed while looking back on this trailer Vs. the final product. The sun lighting is a bit different, the grass blowing in the wind, Snakes character model changes. Its common to have many changes during development. But man....now we getting the remake soon! Such an awesome time to look forward to it.

So much gold in this trailer starting with the parachute seemingly opening just above the treetops.

God I remember watching this trailer everyday until it was released. It was the most hyped up I ever been for a game! I remember hoping he saw Liquid at 10:27. Fingers crossed they do the remake justice.

This game totally caught me by surprised. Had no idea about its existence, and then one day, is saw it in my local rental store...along with kh2, were released during a time in my life when i was paying little attention to video games...:(

So did this area end up in the final game? I think it somewhat resembles Svyatogornyj (the patch of forest you traverse right before you encounter The End). It was probably one of the more complex maps so it would make sense if it was originally designed as some kind of test-bed for the game's forested areas during the early stages of development.

Fun Fact, this version of the trailer was so early in development they used the engine for MGS2 and constructed this jungle setting in a giant box environment and hid alot of those short comings with camera tricks and editing to hide how far from finished this really was.

Guys it was announced on May 24, 2023 that we are getting a remake of MGS3, how faithfull it will be we only time will tell.

I remember the first time I saw this trailer for the disc of the "Country of Games" magazine. Survival elements, animation, graphics - surprised! Great part!

This is Hideo at his best . He showed critics he can easily do texture . They unfairly criticized him for having no texture with MGS2 . Uh the bad guys wore camo which HAS ALOTTA TEXTURE . He also showed their really wasn't THAT MUCH of a difference between the PS2 & XBox . The PS2 kicks butt with this game .

This look so different at the real version... but its a E3 trailer so.. its kinda awesome at the same time :D
