Well to be honest with you, the time you made was unbelievable as the glitches and strategies are. You were amazing and I look forward to seeing more of that! :D By the way congrats on the great run
i had that incoming call as a ringtone for my cellphone for like a year. now the alarm in my head is going off every time i hear it. also my tone for a message was the getting detected noise. ah, good times.
There won't be a specific order. Okami was first, yes, but the HD version of the video wasn't available yet or else I'd have put that one up right away. Whatever you guys request most are the ones that will be going up faster.
For the Gray (Grey) Fox fight, when he uses his blue orb bullshit, you don't have to just shoot him, when you wait for the orb to shrink, you have 2 seconds in which you can punch him. Just a little FF for you. Also, I still can't beat my record of 1 hour 39 no glitches Extreme mode. Love MGS and hope to see it next winter/summer
I honestly didn't remember the stream crash happened here, however I don't have any editing programs atm. As lots of people have said already, the video resumes at 0:28:34
MGS 3 torture scene > MGS 1 torture scene. I think I shed tear for Naked when he was tortured. And the end of MGS4, when Old Snake is being fried to dead, I cried then too.
Actually, at about 35 minutes, when the ninja starts spazzing out, you don't HAVE to shoot him (I've successfully run up to him and melee'd him during certain moments.) However, for speedrunning purposes, its absolutely faster to just whip out a gun and shoot him from a distance (safer too.)
Haven't you seen their video uploads recently? They always upload the videos in a random order. On a side note: Good job on starting to get the SGDQ vids up. There was quite a few I missed.
The Metal Gear Solid that you can get on the Playstation Network is actually emulated. And since it's just an emulated version of the exact same game, you can do the glitches.
My only bone of contention with this run is that there is no need to have the SOCOM equipped to stop Grey Fox from attacking you in the first phase. There's a really easy way to position yourself so you're on the left edge of the screen when he starts the cutscene to put away his sword which gives you enough time to hit him before he starts his attack. There's also a really easy way to stop him from ambushing you if you're too far away during the stealth phase, put a partition between you and him either up or down in the center of the room, he'll flip over to get to you, and you're safe to get him then. You might lose about 2-3 seconds setting it up, but not lose about 45-60 seconds with each death. Other than that MAAAAAAAAN THIS FUCKING RUN
as for NG+ in mgs1 you get stealth camo if you saved otacon and the infinte ammo bandanna if you save meryl. you must beat the game 3 times with the same save file and have saved meyrl and otacon once each at least to get the tuxedo and different coloured gray fox on your fourth playthrough. in the pc version and japanese re-release a new machine gun weapon the mp5 with infinte ammo is given to you from the start on the new very easy difficulty.
Pretty insane doing a speedrun in extreme. The boss fights were incredibly difficult, only 1 fucking ration capacity, rations only appear on dead guards. Already getting memories of me much younger with my asshole clenched trying to play through the game but falling short at the Hind D fight.
I'm glad someone agrees with me. They should really ban glitch devices such as the gamegenie, and gameshark, or at least say they are using them in the first place.
I didn't mean the cheat device. Those glitch out the game even more. What I meant by glitches is areas where you can get your character to clip though walls/objects, etc. (Example: Super Mario Bros -1 world)
I do apologize if I'm being slightly picky but I do prefer the old timer where there was just seconds and hours, adding that extra decimal of milliseconds is a bit distracting personally.
It's not fake. Unmodded playstation, unmodded game, I'm pretty sure that's the world record holder for the game and everyone there watching him do the run can confirm it's legit and unspliced. Probably someone watched him practice earlier too :)
That @TransitTycoon guy is gone now, but christ. This comment section is still a mess... I'd appreciate it if this video's comment section gets cleaned up.
i should also mention once you saved otacon or meryl once youill get there bonus for each playthrough after so you can have both of the bonuses by your third playthrough. using those special items will negatively effect the game of game ranking your given but unless your hardcore that doesnt matter lol if you pick up the camera during your playthrough that will also be unlocked from the start on ng+ and you unlock a movie mode a or b as well for otacon and meryl respectively. thats EVERYTHINGlol
Also, as I'm not familiar with NG+ runs of MGS, why is there no radar? I saw that when Meryl released him the radar was jammed, but so far, around the 14:00 mark, and what seems like the rest of the game by scrolling along, Slade has no radar. Is that because of the tuxedo or?o:
i dont remember whether you can load your completed game save and change the difficulty then or have to start a new game with a completed save on your memory card to do extreme. i know in twin snakes version you load your completed save and pick another difficulty but not sure if it was in the original. (added because they added dog tag collecting to the remake from mgs2 and each difficulty has its own set of dog tags. mgs3 didnt let you change difficulty on ng+)
Gray Plays Games considering, it is a speed run, and that he has to preserve as much health as possible, I'd say it's pretty relevant to say it is dumb. The point is that it can be done, I never said you couldn't, it is just really dumb.
They're exploiting glitches in the game's code to clear the game as fast as humanly possible. That's not cheating if you do things that the game gives you.
