Maybe he's stronger due to being a robot but less agile due to being in an unfamiliar body? Notice he can shake the entire tree, but throughout the entire song is constantly losing balance. But his initial denial of being a robot is partly because he's always been both strong and clumsy, just not to this degree. So while he's stronger than ever, he's also clumsier than ever, so to him nothing has really changed, just progressed beyond its natural state. Even his voice is the same, just with a "robot" filter over it. Only when he takes a look at his metallic hands does he realize something's wrong. I'm thinking too deep into this..
+eddrulz Most songs are like that. Eddie lemme go back to my home: DK: I wanna go home Eddie: No DK: Please Eddie: No DK: Please Eddie: No DK: Please Eddie: No DK: Please Eddie: OK Finest Hour: Kuhrool: I HAVE THE CRYSTAL COCONUT HAIL ME Bluster the Benevolent: Bluster: I'm going to become famous Hologram: Cranky: I can't help you, I'm a hologram
I remember hearing that the shows animation at least the first season was early motion capture Maybe at least for the song they did it the normal way to make the motion more robotic and jerky, like Dk is trying to move in ways the robot can’t Or it was from season 2 which in my last minute research was a different animation studio
That's because it's a blatant ripoff of Daft Punk. Seriously; just replace "a metal head" with "around the world". It should come as no surprise that this TV show was never known for its originality. ;-P
Man what an excellent piece of storytelling this scene is. Diddy doesn't recognize his old friend because of this terrifying change. At first Donkey Kong refuses to acknowledge that anything has happened, choosing to live in denial of the horror he has become. Diddy keeps trying to break through to him, knowing that the old DK is trapped there somewhere. Eventually he breaks through and DK slowly starts to realize something is wrong. He becomes fully aware of his own mechanical monstrosity. You can see the hopelessness in his eyes as he repeats, "I'm a metal head." DK has given up. There is no other option for him than to live in this inescapable hell, suffering for all of eternity.
My FAVOURITE part of this is actually just how he falls over and screams "HELP I'VE FALLEN AND I CAN'T GET UP" to Diddy, which is IMMEDIATELY followed by a very casual "Can you pass me a banana little buddy?". It's so weird and I love it
lol I think it may have been a deliberate choice on their part. Gives DK's singing voice a lot more impact. I don't think it would've hurt to find a singing voice for Diddy too though.
This has been an inside joke amongst me and my friends for four years now. Every time someone says “who else would it be” our minds immediately go to this
When you think about it, Diddy's lyrics are somewhat pointless (And his singing voice doesn't help one bit-) Meanwhile DK can make a legitimate song, a somewhat deep one when looked at right.
There exists a "better version" of this song that's literally just the same but Diddy is gone. Without his lyrics it sounds more like DK starts singing as a response to someone - probably Diddy tbh, especially since that's how the scene goes - and then throughout the song he comes to the realization himself, with no prompting from Diddy
See, the only parts of the Donkey Kong Country show I watched as a kid were the episodes on the "Legend of the Crystal Coconut" VHS, so I only watched four of the least strange episodes in the series. So seeing things like this or "Leo Luster" or "Eddie, Let Me Go Back to my Home" REALLY throws me off.
Lyrics: Who else would it be? Is there something you should tell me, big buddy? Are you aware of the glare from the sun shining off of your hair? I don't know what you mean, it's just a healthy sheen I must admit I feel a little strange But I've never felt better, I'm stronger than ever Can't you see nothing's changed? I don't know how to tell you, metal buddy But you look just like a solar-powered turbo-charged washing machine I'm not light on my feet, now I clank and I squeak But my voice is the same when I speak My hand looks like aluminum foil Does this mean that I need a tune-up and a change of oil? I'm a metal head, a metal head, a metal head, a metal head I'm a metal head, a metal head, a metal head, a METAL HEAD!
The fact the voice for Diddy did the voice for Yoshi in the super Mario world show is mad, only difference is, is that I could watch the Mario World Series without cringing or covering my ears, every time Yoshi speaks.
I'm a Metal head, A Metal Head, A Metal Head, A Metal Head. Around the World, Around the World, Around the World, Around the World. I'm a Metal Head, Around the World, A Metal Head, Around the World.
