I've probably seen at least 30 reactions to this video and yours was the most positive and appreciative reaction I've seen. This is a song that is beloved by many people like me who were in their teens and twenties when this came out. I remember watching this broadcast on TV and being totally thrilled by it. I would have been in that audience giving them a standing ovation with the rest of them. And being a drummer in a local rock band at the time, I air drummed the hell out of this song and worked up quite a sweat. Thanks for your reaction!
The guitar player, Jan Akkerman, was named best guitarist of the world by Melody Maker in 1973! Thijs van Leer, the ‘singer’ is a trained piano- and flute player……..alle amazing musicians!
In the 70s European Rock went in a different direction then N.American Rock. Sometimes called Alternate Rock. Germany and Netherlands were hot beds for it.
Because of the time constraints on the show, this song was a *lot* more "lively" than usual. :D Played in half it's usual time, you picked the best video of all to react to.
Producer: sorry lads we've only got 5 minutes left on the show. Can you cut your 7 minute song short. Focus: nah we'll just play faster. Hold my cocaine.
YESS SORRY BECOUSE THE SHOW,THEY HAD TO SPEED UP THE SONG,AND THAT IT'S WHAT MAKE THIS VIDEO FANTASTIC!! AND FOR SHURE YOU CAN SEE GUITAR AND DRUMMER SO FAST,AND THE SINGER AND PERFORMER IS FANTASTIC!! DON'T MAKE THE ANALYSE? ONLY HEARING!
The flute appears. You say "Where did THAT come from?" Were you not watching? It was lying on Thijs van Leer's keyboards all the way through this IF you look.
