Good?? They are arguably the best hard Rock band on the planet today (IMO, they are the best ever in my 64 years on this planet) Over 90 songs in their catalog and not a stinker in the bunch. But you've only seen their music video, wait till you see them live!!!!!! As for recommendations, just search for band-maid on RU-vid and go for it ... I'd recommend live performances except maybe for a few of their newer songs like Rinne, Bubble, Blooming, Dragon Cries (and their incredible Band-Maiko stuff which they pull out as an April Fool's video for their fans every April 1, pandemic not withstanding) which are too recent to have pro-shot live versions (but there are some fan cam videos out there as well that despite not having pro level sound still sound incredible and show that this band is for real with no gimmicks other than the maid outfits!?)

The song "Dice" will steal your soul.

Edit: Akane (drummer) is one of the best drummers in the world, she is a beast. Definitely check out any of their songs live...One of the few bands that are better live (depending on the quality of the video) and thats saying something considering their music is already ridiculously amazing.

year later, maybe 14 months? after discovering the Maids, I keep watching this (and the succesive Champ reactions) because it's the closest I can get to that moment of " Wait. What? Oh wow. Oh wow oh wow oh wow OOOOOFFFF HOLY CRAP WHERE HAS THIS BAND BEEN ALL MY LIFE?"

Welcome to Band-maid. Like a lot of people said they are better live but there is a couple of songs you should do the music video of Dice (mv) Rinne (mv) Blooming (mv) Mostly everything else should be live.

Lead guitarist Kanami is the one who writes all of their music. They have dropped 6 albums so far and almost everything since their song “Alone” from their 3rd album, have been arranged and composed by the band themselves. Kanami is quite the genius songwriter as they pretty much dropped an album a year since their debut in 2013, with each one consisting around 10 to 15 tracks. And majority of them are very well written. BM diehard fans have a belief that they can only ever have good songs and great ones and in my personal experience it is quite close to the truth as they are just very consistent in their “Band maid sound” and they add in enough variations to keep it fresh. So, if you happen to like one of them you’re most likely going to like 95% of them. From their interviews, it seems that their previous label kept rejecting everything Kanami wrote before “Alone” so I’m guessing all that frustration eventually blew up the Genius in her lmao. Btw her along with the drummer Akane and bassist MISA are all professionally trained musicians who have been playing multiple instruments from as young as 4 years old. They’re in their late 20s now so its about 2 decades of experience. This core instrumental trio is definitely top tier. The rhythm guitarist Miku who is also the main lyricist and band founder, started learning guitar under Kanami after Saiki took over as the main vocalist.

Congrats! You have found Band Maid. Get ready to have your mind blown again and again.

Band-Maid love throwing in little Easter eggs that only other musicians seem to catch. And they almost always do something different on the second verse musically just to switch it up. I only discovered this band 3 weeks ago and I have been obsessed with them ever since. I have talked them up to people at work and every day I have to watch a bunch of their videos. They are so good and one of the best bands in my 58 years. Do go down this pigeon hole. You won't regret it. Po!

You have no idea what you're in for. These girls do it all from heavy to light. They so many good songs. Heavier songs - Moratorium and rinne Inbetwen - Blooming, Alone, Choose me Lighter - Daydreaming, anemone The crazy part. They are even better live. A composer reacts to band maid, I'm interested. Good reaction. -Subscribed- You asked yourself whether it was harmonics or slides in that transition spot. Yes she is going down the scale with harmonics, 7th fret, very fast played. The "8th slide" you mentioned before the 2nd solo is a 3 string slide with some very fast played notes. Their songs are always high-energy, melodic, catchy, mood-lifting, creativ, with so much to discover if you listen closely. Great songwriters and musicians. I love them. Rock on!

Kanami, the lead guitarist and main musical arranger for the band is the riff Queen ... No, emperoress ... She layers new stuff every chorus and verse, you'll never hear the same lazy progressions in a song!!

The only "swing and a mini miss" you have on this one is you got the MV (which is great as well) but the LIVE version from 2/14/2020 is even better. You will hear folks say they are even better live, and they are. My wife and I saw them in San Francisco in 2018 and yes, they are even better live. Really more hard "classic" rock with metal/punk/jazz/about anything tossed in though. And tons of fun/stage presence as well as being about as cute as they come. 🤘

Their talent level is hard to grasp! Each member is a MONSTER OF TALENT and brings creativity that I have never seen before in a Rock Band! THEY ARE OFF THE CHARTS INCREDIBLE! OMG!!!

Discovered them about 9 months ago and now one of my favorites. They are just a lot of fun to listen to. Extraordinarily talented musicians playing extremely well constructed songs with choruses that are catchy as hell. Have fun!

One thing you will notice in Band-Maid songs is that the 2nd verse is almost always different from the first. They throw in variations and embellishments.

Dude, they have over 80 songs, all amazing, just waiting for you to analyse. They are a one-in-a-life-time band that have so much flexibility and range. The sound, and feel of each of their songs are so complex and distinct, it's unbelievable that they could churn out an album a year for 6 years straight. I've listened to their albums over and over, and it doesn't get old at all. Never has their been a band this capable. Incredibly talented band.

Band Maid is amazing and I can almost never turn them up loud enough. They are THAT good. Dice, Play, Non-fiction days, they have a lot of very good stuff. If you can find Moratorium, OMG, one of my favorite. Careful with j-rock and copyright strikes, Band Maid is usually ok with reactions.

I'm with your brother, Good reaction! You have not even scratched the surface with this band. I have been sucked down the Band-maid rabbit hole for some time now and I cannot see myself getting out. Not only are they TOP NOTCH musicians but damn good songwriters. I think they are not capable of producing a bad tune. Their live stuff is amazing. I would check out "Play (Live version)", "Moratorium", "Puzzle", "Alone", "Real Existence", "Dice", "Blooming" there are a few to start with. They do have a vast number of videos did not want to list them all. They are all good and worth checking out. Someone said: "The best Band-Maid song is the last one you heard" and I agree. These Band-Maidens are the REAL DEAL!

You've been hooked!!!!! Happened to me too. Saw them live a couple of years ago and haven't stopped smiling since. These girls are the real deal, they write and arrange all their own stuff now and produce some of the best feel-good rock around today. I've been a musician most of my life and, like you, I am amazed at the layers in their music. You must listen to some of their live stuff. Try Puzzle, Turn Me On, Moratorium, Real Existence.....that should be ok for starters!😁

I feel you... I watched Babymetal for a goof, liked it.. saw a bunch of maid girls in the recommendations... sure why not we're already down this road I guess. Next thing I know I have a new favorite band.

On first glance, you'd think that Band Maid were just a gimmick, created by a music corporation. However they are anything but a gimmick. The band was formed by Miku (rhythm guitar, vocals), who previously worked at a maid cafe, and wanted to create a rock band with the whole maid image. She proceeded to recruit Kanami (lead guitar) after a internet search. Kanami than recommended Akane (drums), who she'd worked with previously in the past. And in turn Akane recommended Misa (Bass guitar). They then added the final member Saiki (vocals) after holding auditions. And a few other songs that I would recommend. I am 66 year old metal/rock head, I discovered this band about a year ago I’m obsessed they are not an act, they are a real rock/metal band there is no weak link in this band , tight and each ones skill set is amazing, you’ve got to listen to Domination live. It takes alot to get me excited because I grew up going to early Black Sabbath, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Steppenwolf , Deep Purple etc etc, love new talent that pushes envelope and boundaries, Exploring this band is going to be a great journey, my bucket list is to see them live, try Dice, Moratorium, Puzzle ,Take Me Higher, Play-then you have about 75 more to explore-🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘

They are very BRAVE in terms of creativity . Usually you can make 5 songs from the materials of this song . But they put everything into it just because they are very confident to make other new songs with new musical ideas .

Live versions of everything are always awesome, especially their live shows at Shiubuya from Feb 2020. "Real Existence" and "Dice" are great. I always find something else to like in the well-rounded "Blooming." Who knew you could make happy, catchy hard rock? It's about perfect.

Wow thanks for the constant mentioning of Hayley Williams because the first band maid song I heard “Dice” (check that one out too!) instantly reminded me of early Paramore. Since then of course I realized they are their own unique sound but it was my first impression. Also I feel like the main singer Saiki’s voice sounds more deeper and stronger in the live videos!

Don’t know if anyone already mentioned it, but you hit on one of their key “tricks” - they always change up the 2nd verse with different riffs or drum patterns when compared to the first. They aren’t content just to repeat the same thing. Also, they are just flat out awesome. Akane (drums) is an absolute beast!
