all the Alfa's of the day were different and most were great shapes with engines which could rev nicely...alfosud was also a different car. pity they were not galvanized in the day.

Surely the Porsche, nor this Alfa Romeo does not have a wooden frame. These are just wooden bucks, for the master craftsman to shape and fit the body panel upon.

I love hand crafted things, but robots and computers have also made cars a lot better and reliable. I used to have an early Porsche and you couldn't, say, get a door off a junked car and fit it on yours. Getting it to git right would take a skilled craftsperson a long time. Now you can take a door from a salvage car and put it on a car and you don't even have to adjust a hinge or a latch. I've done it several times. Cars are a lot more reliable now as well.

Well it is progress in respect that the everyman can now afford them…🤷🏿‍♂️

I designed the jigsaw my self, from a 3d scan I've made of the car. Wood is cnc cut and grey parts are 3d print. Not so expensive.

Originally, the contiurs were taken in patterns directly from the designer's full-size drawn views, or off the wood and modelling clay master model.

This part took me 2,5h (180€+ tax). Try to find cheaper anywhere in the world. Last technology is not always the best.

@@slgclassiccars4098 Thank you for your reply! So far I have found sheets of this steel on sale and it is indicated there that it is electro galvanized. Do you know what this means? Does this mean that it has some kind of coating like zinc or something else? As far as I understand, sheets of metal for the manufacture of body panels should not be coated with anything, otherwise welding problems may arise. Is it so?

130$/hr is totally crazy. We charge 70€/h, that's fair. I dont want to be rich, I dont like expensive things and useless shiny things, I just want to create beautiful things, and make my client's dream come true, and be an example for my children

That's my job, man. People give me money to restore their classic cars, and you see a part of it.

What do you say man? Am I showing how to earn money here? I'm just showing my craftsmanship, no matter the money, or time involved. My work is to restore classic cars, if the client decide to commission me, that's because he thinks his car worth it.

Sorry. Total misunderstanding. It’s a joy seeing you work and form the metal. From a plain sheet to a sculptured piece of art. To my view most of the joy is in building the car not in owning it. My highest respect to your work.

@@slgclassiccars4098 By the way! For sure, the stand on which the panels are being tried on is designed in some kind of CAD program. And it is made on a CNC machine. And it has clear dimensions and symmetry. This is already a step towards the 21st century. If not, then I'm really sorry for you. Some kind of masochism. It's like cutting a toothpick out of a log with a penknife.

I've designerd it myself, as I shape this part Human beings have been evolving their techniques for millions of years. Evolution isn't just about using the latest techniques, evolution is about using the best one, no matter how old they are. Believe me, I'm an industrial designer and sheet metal shaper: what you see here is by far the best way to shape a car part properly without it costing you thousands of euros. Just ask chatgpt.

@@slgclassiccars4098 Good. If it's not a secret, how much time did you spend making this panel? I'm interested. And how much it would cost in dollars? Let's say if I ordered it from you. Perhaps you are right. Maybe this is a quick way. But you need two of them! And they should be symmetrical (mirrored) and the same in all parameters and quality.

You are joking of course, but as I'm not totally sure of it, let me tell yiu that some of the more expensive cars are made by hand. And also every single rare car is made that way.

Making a press to produce 5 pieces is just an incredible waste of money.
