Metal Sonic - Tears In Rain (Blade Runner Parody) 

Imagine: A robot made specifically to surpass and eventually destroy you. You’ve met and fought it several times over the years. However, during your last known battle, it uncharacteristically decides to save you despite the both of you suffering severe injuries from the battle. After putting you down, it kneels down while holding a dove and essentially has a heart-to-heart with you before eventually succumbing to its injuries and shutting down permanently, leaving you to wonder if it was more organic than you or it realized.

"I've seen things you wouldn't believe. Egg Fleet ships on fire off the coast of Seaside Hill. I've watched neon lights glitter in the dark over Stardust Speedway. All these moments will be lost in time like gears in the smelter. Time to deactivate."

Metal has always seemed to be more human than robot. This character needs more attention or his own game.

"I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Eggman fleets flying in the distance, islands on fire, people screaming for help as they became nothing but mindless machines. I've seen the glistening of stones and the carnage of one man's desire shine in the reflection of his metallic 'utopia.' I've failed more times than anyone could ever know; I failed to save them all. Yet here I am in a world where none of it happened all because I was flung through time; and all those memories of mine will forever be lost to time like tears & gears in the chaotic rain." "I think it's time for me to go. Farwell my other self." After that Sonic just sat there for hours thinking about everything he heard and in the end he realized that Metal was more human than anyone. Beautiful animation I haven't even watched blade runner but this was still beautiful, you can hear and see the pain in Metal. (Side Note: Yes, I was doing the "Metal is just robotisized Sonic" version [I mean CD is before 2 there is no way Eggman made Metal if he made a weakling in Sonic 2])

I think calling this a parody seriously undersells how good it is. It’s not making fun of the source material or aping it for the sake of a cheap joke; this is seriously impactful, and genuinely moving.

This was recommended and I'm generally shocked with this work of art you made here, I love how you describe Metal Sonic to be a change of thought, to think about life by the time he saves Sonic he then accepts his fate, what I also love was how you gave his expression based on his red glaring pupils until they disappear. This was fantastic animation I really enjoyed this and it does gives me a sad face since we had never seen Metal to be more sentient in the games before (except Sonic Heroes & etc) and by seeing this, it warms my heart to understand how it feels. Keep doing your work in the future, this is marvelous 👍. (I also don't mind if I use this clip for a reaction, I'll give you credit for this, its fine if you don't want to accept 😅)

I always dreamt about Metal Sonic to be more than how in comics he got called "one-noted jerk". You just made it become true.

I like how in the end sonic thinks about how a machine can see all those moments both beautiful and terrifying, to forever know those memories. While, we organics will only remember them for so long until we die; that gives sonic a lot to think about. Meaning as fast as he is, he needs to take the time to enjoy what life has to offer, and spend more time with those whom he cares about. Yes, this is cheesy to say, but you have to admit, it's the truth.

This is melancholic... yet so beautiful. Something about these words coming from Metal's robotic voice makes this moment work so much better. I have no shame in admitting I cried. What a masterpiece. Update: I still come back and watch this video once in a while. I also saw the original scene from Blade Runner, and I loved it.

For anyone else that’s about to watch this you might want to turn on captions because it’s a little hard to understand exactly what’s being said without them but otherwise this is overall a fantastic animation! 👍👍

Having watched Blade Runner quite a few times, (it actually is one of my favorite films of all time,) you seriously nailed this scene. I got pretty much as emotional as I did with the actual Blade Runner scene. Add in the fact you made this work with Metal Sonic is the cherry on top for an A+ animated project.

I just happened upon this masterpiece after a coworker was watching Sonic 2 on his phone. I have never cried for Metal before, but now... I can't stop crying. It hit real hard in the feels.

This is actually too good, never saw blade runner but I can tell this is good. The power and words in metals voice, damn that just hits hard. I love how you started with a little idea, them turned it into something beautiful. It’s actually too good, like I said. God tier. 10/10 amazing bro ❤❤❤

Metal Sonic, more 'human' than most.

... I can't help but think of that moment in the metal virus comic, where metal dipped his hand in the goo. I always took as though he felt thoroughly inadequate... never satisfied... I honestly thought he would one day become free will. Not in a villain like sense but one day, he just... snaps and goes Rouge knowing fully well he'll be disassembled for inadequacy. It's haunting to think about but... oddly realistic given his track record

This is really good and reminds me of Sonic OVA, in the scene where Metal says "There's only one Sonic ..." But this is just ... unexpected, wholesome and touching, it fits so well to this universe ! I would like to see something like this in Sonic Prime ... where Metal could be a hero. You did a wonderful job there, man ! Keep it up ^^

Okay this is combination what I never believe would come true. Blade Runner is my favorite movies of all the time, and first Sonic game in Sega Genesis is first console game my family ever got, and seeing this two things together feels very other worldly but same time strangely very "common" or "natural". R.I.P Vangelis. 🥀

This was on my recommendations and I do not regret clicking on it. This video tells a whole story just by using a few words. You made me shed a tear, and I respect that. Best animation I’ve seen in a long time. Very well done.

YOU MADE ME CRY Holy smokes, the feelings are flowing, The way you can see the emotions on Metal Sonic, how he sounds and then the ending of him just... shutting down, combined with the music and visuals is just so sad yet beautiful I just wanna hug Metal Sonic and just want him to be free from Eggman, letting him live his own life

I really LOVE this animation! Not only because the visuals or you giving the justice the character of Metal Sonic deserves, because is also a god tier homage to the death of Roy scene in Blade Runner and a very faithfull one (with the metal sticks on the hand because the perssecution of Roy to Deckard moments before, the shots of the faces and how is montaged, and even that little down of FPS just in the moment of the death) something that is sadly missed by everybody else and It deserves praises as well. Awesome work

This was a very solid animation. Music gave a lot of heart to the scene and put emphasis towards what Metal was saying. What he was saying did throw me for a loop before turning captions on, but knowing the original scene I understood what you were going for. Checked out your previous animations afterwards, and this one was quite a leap in tone and execution 😅

I only just now saw this movie for the first time. Amazing work, man. The animation is incredible and you should feel proud of yourself.

Wow… this is beautiful… the animation, the way it looks and the music used. A robot that was made to surpass and destroy its creators enemy. A robot that has battled the one it was meant to destroy multiple times, saves and knees down while it lets a bird go free and has a heart to heart talk before shutting down forever… Not gonna lie I felt emotional the more I watched and fought about how deep this is. Feels like this fits too cause he has had time where he sounds human then machine. 💙

I remember when I was a kid joking about the bird flying in the end being the "flicky" trapped inside the replicant's body. Funny to see this go full circle 25 years later!

Holy crap, I love this, you blended my favorite game series into one of my favorite scenes in cinema (though I confess I don't love Blade Runner as a whole as much) bravo indeed!

Holycow, that really captured the movie part so well, this surprised the heck out of me, I was thinking that there was going to be a voice clip from Blade Runner, but instead it was an actual Metal voice and that really tugged on the old heart strings there, making Metal more human, well done

Even though I’ve never even heard of blade runner I still feel bad about how you could tell they’ve been through very hard times and I’m left with a strong feeling in me I loved the animation and voice acting 👍

Instead of a pidgeon, he could had been grabbing a Flicky. Missed oportunity there.

Might have been better had Metal Sonic's eyes faded out rather than just blinked out of existence. The whole thing is amazing, and almost perfect were it not for the fact for how suddenly he just switches off. It's like he mentally goes, "Okay, this is the part where I die, so I'll just turn off like normal," which doesn't have the same impact the original scene does because you can see Roy gradually losing the fight to stay alive. Regardless, that doesn't detract from how good it is. I'd love it if Metal Sonic actually met a similar fate canonically.
