As a metal head and hard rock enthusiast, Aurora is actually a guilty pleasure for me. Aurora may make indie art synth pop music but she's a metal head herself. She writes and produces her own music from a very young age and is very empathic, hopefully you dive more into her discography. Definitely check out her live stuff.

There’s very few artists that I can say Sound even better live. Most, if we’re lucky, sound like the recording. But in Aurora’s case, her live performances are just on a whole other level. So I definitely recommend checking out her live and acoustic versions of her songs in addition to their recorded versions. I think each version brings something different. But her energy and the way you can see how connected she is with her music really just takes her songs to a whole new level when you see her live. She has had some great performances on the Nobel Peace stage, as well as a cathedral (who’s name I’m blanking on and can pronounce anyways lol. I’m sure someone has already commented about it cause that show was breathtaking. )

I'm born and raised in Ireland on their music as well as many others, Corr's, Sharon Shannon, Mary Black, and there's definitely a celtic air there although maybe that could be what Norwegian music sounds like?.. Eitherway, Aurora sounds very ethereal, faerie like, angelic. x

Great reaction! Aurora is the total package - singer, songwriter, musician, dancer, producer/arranger, choreographer, and an absolutely lovely human being (and she’s just 26 years old!). She will often perform her songs quite differently - sometimes with her band, other times stripped down to just her and one instrument, a cappella, with full orchestra, etc. - so it is definitely worth listening to different versions of the same song. Also, her videos are mini-masterpieces as well. A short list of original songs: Runaway - Nobel Peace Prize concert and her music video Through the Eyes of a Child - Nidarosdomen concert, my recommendation Live Stripped - VIVO UK Lift It Happened Quiet - Nidarosdomen concert, but I'd recommend the live at The Current version as well Churchyard - Live on KEXP Winter Bird - Nidarosdomen concert and her music video Murder Song 5,4,3,2,1 - Nobel Peace Prize Concert Lucky - Nidarosdomen concert Little Boy in the Grass - Nidarosdomen concert The Seed - Music Video, HAIK Concert The River - Music video, Live in Bergen 2020 Exist For Love - Music video, Daydreamer - Music video She also does some awesome covers: Life on Mars - David Bowie Believer - Imagine Dragons God is a Woman - Ariana Grande Across the Universe - John Lennon Teardrop - Massive Attack Rasputin - Boney M And of course there is her latest album “The Gods we can Touch” which is pure gold!

Over 550 million views of this video should tell you that this artist is special, and to think she wrote this at the age of 11/12 years is astonishing but the fact that she started writing songs at the age of 9 especially one called Lucky which you should definitely react to because trust me it’s a masterpiece and her live performance of Lucky at the nidarosdomen cathedral is one of the most breathtakingly beautiful emotional moments ever, I’ve had the pleasure of seeing Aurora live 3 times and at my age of 66 I have seen scores of artists live but no one has come close to moving my emotions like Aurora,I’ve no hesitation in saying she’s the best live performer I’ve ever seen it’s the only way to see her for you get to see the whole package of this Genius of an artist,Aurora has a catalog of songs with lyrics that make you think deeply about life and the world we live in but what I love is that she has never craved to become a mainstream artist she has always stayed true to herself and what she believes music should be all about for her music is a medicine for everyone and I for one am blessed to have her music her words of poetry her medicine in my life.she she simply is a Genius ❤️

I so hope you venture down the Aurora rabbit hole. I adore her music...and her as a person. Runaway is FAR and away her biggest song.....but I'd rank it as her 15th best song, at most. Top tracks, for me, would be Lucky(live at Nidarosdomen), Wake Up(a demo), A Different Kind of Human, The Woman I Am, All is Soft Inside, Giving in to the Love, Winter Bird, I Went Too Far, Soulless Creatures, Infections of a Different Kind, Little Boy in the Grass(live at Nidarosdomen), annnd I need to stop or else I'll just keep going forever lol. She's especially amazing live....especially that Nidarosdomen show. It's easily one of the top 5 concerts I've ever seen, and I've seen Tool and The White Stripes _in person_ whereas I only saw Nidarosdomen on my laptop w headphones! But it's _that_ good. It was actually my first introduction to Aurora...on March 15, 2020. I remember the date because of how impactful that whole concert was. Her live performances are better than her music videos because she totally owns her performances. Since you just experienced her official "Runaway" video, perhaps watching her perform it live would be good for you. May I suggest her show at the Honda Stage singing this song. You won't be able to take your eyes off her. Search for : Aurora - Runaway (Live on the Honda Stage). And yes, she writes and produces all her songs. Yes, spot on, the key to understanding this special person is "different". Her songs are all different and each performance is adapted to her current mood. Often you see her totally inside her song, the transition back into our world being visible. That is why live is best. Her lyrics reflect her different take on the world. A truly special person. Try her three performances at The Nobel Peace Prize concert (perhaps Murder Song) before her masterpiece Concert at Nidarosdomen.

Aurora really is her own genre of music. Every song is different and her live material is mind blowing. Yes, she writes, composes and produces her music. She feels every single note when she sings live. I agree with many of the comments that “5,4,3,2,1 (Murder Song)” from the Nobel Peace Prize Concert is a must. I would also suggest “It Happened Quiet” live at the Current. Both songs show the depth of her storytelling, maturity and versatility. If you want to go down this rabbit hole you will not be disappointed and many of us “warriors and weirdos” will be quite happy to offer listening suggestions. She has also done multiple cover songs that will probably make you forget about the original. In many ways I almost feel like she is a once in a lifetime artist like Ren (not saying that from a musical style perspective but in the fact that they both WILL make you feel something).

In my mind, she's a mix of Bjork, and Delores from the Cranberries. My advice to you is to look at all the songs/performances suggested, and pick a couple of the less popular requests. Aurora has so much to offer, and I feel like people only recommend the same 3 or 4 songs. Obviously, all of the songs are amazing, but I feel like people miss out on some of the true gems when they go with the most popular requests.

There are songs: Churchyard, Gentle Earthquake, All Is Soft Inside, Runaway, Forgotten Love, Queendom. I am new her fan. I am playing game Sky and they had collaboration with her and made entire season of aurora, plus virtual concert. That's how i find her. IDK how i never hear her, i must live under the rock 😆

Hi John and thank you for this fine reaction. A wonderful journey lies ahead of you. AURORA wrote the song when she was 11 years old. It was recorded in 2014 when she was about 18 years old. She became famous with this song. AURORA (Aurora Aksnes) was born on June 15, 1996 in Stavanger, Norway. She is a singer, songwriter and producer with a style all her own. AURORA's songs always have a strong message. Often the messages are not very clear either. They can be interpreted so that many people can relate them to themselves. Her movements when singing are extraordinary. This isn't a dance. This is her special way of expression. You can also say that she sings with her whole body. Her excellent music, her brilliant voice and her movements. AURORA's live performances are a total work of art. She is often so into the song that she shakes her body or head uncontrollably (--> Murder song, It happened quiet) and need 2-3 seconds to come back. She is capable of transporting feelings because she allows a look into her soul. Her fans call themselves warriors and weirdos. AURORA is not entirely unknown. Her channel has over 5 million subscribers and the 78 videos on this channel have over 1.3 billion views. Do you know the Disney movie Frozen 2? AURORA is the siren call in the song "Into the Unknown". AURORA once said: People tend to believe quite quickly that something is wrong with them if they're not like the people they see in front of them It's so sad that it doesn't take much for us to really doubt ourselves - Through The Eyes Of a Child (Live at Nidarosdomen) - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ncG9zTzsisE.html - she sang in norway's biggest cathedral - phenomenal acoustics - Murder song (5,4,3,2,1) - The 2015 Nobel Peace Prize Concert - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-vh0SWTVwXxw.html - the saddest love song I've ever heard - It Happened Quiet (Live at The Current) - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-9U-N6LqzdIM.html - it's about the rape of a woman - some say - these great harmonies - Lucky (Live at Nidarosdomen) - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-AmTiqR2_VAw.html - the song is her way of suicide prevention - The Seed (Official Video - VEVO) - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-_Mc_OM5oNA8.html - it's about the climat change, AURORAS “Earth Song” I usually prefer her live performances. But in some cases the VEVO video is more impressive. I hope you enjoy AURORA. Three important bits of information I found from another commenter: 1. -- In a recent interview she said "well, the last song I wrote is meant for my 7th album.” - AURORA's latest album, the fourth, was released on January 21, 2022. She's already in the planning for the 7th. 2. -- AURORA was a teen when she answered the question "are some of your songs related (on different albums)?" - it will all make sense when I have finished. - AURORA has a plan and we don't know the destination yet. But it is important to know that everything belongs together. 3. AURORA is holding back one song from every decade of her life to release those songs as the last album after her death. Which artist does that? Have a nice day and Greetings from Germany

Awesome! I came to this channel because you were reacting to one of my favorite bands Babymetal, now your reacting to another one of my favorite artist Aurora! Like Babymetal's fan base "The One" Aurora's fan base "Warriors and Weirdos" are just as passionate and helpfully informative. Good news is her live performances tend to actually be better than the studio recordings, though she also has some very awesome videos and she seems to be pretty non-block friendly. Live: I recommend this song "Runaway" at the 2015 Nobel Peace Prize Concert and from the same concert "Murder Song (5, 4, 3, 2, 1)" and also very impressively "Wardruna and Aurora - Helvegen (Live)" I recommend these official videos before you do them live, "The Seed," "Animal" and "Cure for me" Looking forward to going down the Aurora rabbit hole with you!

I am glad you started reacting to Aurora. She really is very unique and many appreciate the purines and sincerity in her performance and the songs messages in general You definitely need to check out „The seed“ , „Murder song“, „Daydreamer“ and „The river“. If you want a really nice medley with all her best songs you can also just simply listen to „Aurora Haik Concert“. Then you covered the most important parts and also get a really great understanding of her style. This Haik Concert was actually how I found her and it was the perfect entry for me.

She is pretty versatile and if you would like to check live energy it depends from concert and songs :). But she is very expressive and live her music during live shows and I love her live performances. She has multiple recording of this songs live (including Nobel Prize Concert - BTW she wrote Runaway when was 11). I also like how her performances and concerts has often particular "vibes". For example Nidorasdomen concert (1h of pure magic) has own vibe - it is emotional concert with orchestra. Whole concert is incredible but I would recommend song Lucky (which she wrote when was 9) and Through the Eyes of the Child. But if you would check KEXP 2018 mini concert she is like a geyser of energy and it is more upbeat: I recommend All Is Soft Inside and Churchyard from this mini concert. Honda Stage is another concert and there she sound a _little_ more "rock-ish" especially in the song "Under the Water" - I also recommend "I went too far" from this concert. In live session in "The Current" she sounds differently again (I recommend "It happened Quiet" as a example). She has of course much more interesting concert and many live sessions just wanted to mention that she does not do everything every time in the same way. She has even multiple versions of her songs with different arrangements or details or feelings. And it is very cool.

Aurora wrote this song when she was about 11 and then when she was a preteen finished in. She writes the majority of all of her music. She pretty much runs the show..the video's have been called a work of art. Her live performances....well "The eyes of a child" "what some call a "masterpiece"" She is a phenomenol performer, honest, blunt, down to earth and funny....boy is she funny. Aurora is also a dance. She has taken interpretive dance since the age of 6, She started writing music then as well. She found a keyboard and taught herself to play with one hand, with the other hand she had to hold down the on button to be able to play it. She kept this secret from her family though. She was actually "discovered" she was going to school and the class was told to write a paper. Aurora didn't write the paper, so she wrote a song. When she told her teacher what she did..the teacher asked her if she would sing the song. She agreed. One of the kids in the classroom used their cellphone to record it and then posted it. A record producer saw it and called her. They (they came to meet her and tell her what they thought and what they would like to do with it. Would she like to perform and share some of her songs. She did not give a definitive answer. Later on she told her mother that she really didn't want to go. She didn't have a good voice....Her mother just said, Why don't you share your music with others? If you don't like it, just quit and come back home. So Aurora "tried". She truly is one of a kind. Her music cannot be classifed ... She is all over the place. Many very deep and thought provoking....other fun....and others have a rock sound. In her 1st Album she wrote one song that they expected to be a hit, but is was "Runnaway" was the hit...The other song was called "Running with the wolves" She has produced 5 Albums. She had great success on all of them and is working on the next one. She has all of the songs in her head, She has to come up with a theme and choose and then record it. I believe she started when she is 16 and learned as she was going. She has over 450,000 views on some of her songs. She literally lives in some of her songs.....which is said that she has wriitten over 1000 poems and songs. She can really just do it all,

So much has already been said in all these comments. To me, she sounds even better live. Personally, among the solo singers, she is the only one, along with Alanis Morissette a long time ago, who can hold my attention more than several songs. Live, she is even able to make me love the songs that are not for me in their album version. For me, she never overdoes anything, never really tries to show off or to appear the best in this or that. She is in her musical world, focused on delivering (and also sharing) the meaning and emotions of her songs in the best way in this place at this time with current instrumentation, as if she were just a kind of a tool for all of this, being a kind of musical storyteller. Either way, you'll see it for yourself soon, I guess. Her music is quite diverse, and her live performances, concerts or live sessions, can have very different vibes, moods and instrumentations (even tempos sometimes). But her true involvement in her songs is simply always amazing and touching. You already have a lot of suggestions, I will add (for metal heads): Aurora - Under the Water (Live on the Honda Stage): ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-zVGQWw4Ap6o.html or Aurora - I Went Too Far (Live on the Honda Stage): ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Y2AqeH1GPs4.html Anyway, nice reaction to this fascinating northern Artist, Aurora.🙂
