Taemin would love that you complimented his singing right off the bat. hes such an outstanding dancer his singing is sometimes overshadowed. When Taemin has a comeback its a whole experience.

Taemin's singing voice and video story telling genius are underappreciated. We are missing out of a lot of amazing Taemin stuff caused by mistranslations, that was uncovered by a must-watch: Taemin Guilty MV Explained. Watch it first and thank me later!

Its on my list😊 Its so true. In my opinion you do yourself a disservice if only listen to the song or only watch the mv but dont watch him perform the full choreo bc they aren't separate, they're meant to be collectively experienced. Not that you cant appreciate one or the other bc he's a masterful artist and each part cant stand on its own. But it would be kinda like looking at a great sculpture from only 1 position. You must view it all the way around to get the full effect

I think "Guilty" is a continuation of the themes surrounding Taemin's previous releases. Particularly connected to his Never Gonna Dance Again album -- "2 Kids", "Criminal" and "Idea" -- and Advice album themes. As Taemin has explained, "Guilty" is about a lover who DOESN'T feel guilty about all the bad things they have done in the relationship and they feel no shame or remorse for the pain and suffering they may have caused the other person. Which, if you connect it to the messages from his previous MVs, this easily could be interpreted as a metaphor for everything Taemin has gone through in his career and life. As an idol, he has been manipulated and controlled his whole life. Debuting at 14 years old, Taemin has lived his entire life in the public eye under a microscope, he is expected to be flawless and perfect, and people are constantly telling him what to do and how he should act, etc. However, now that he has turned 30, I think he is embracing a new chapter in his life where he is saying he is no longer going to allow people to manipulate him and he is officially taking back control. In other words, he's not going to feel guilty any more for being himself and doing what makes him happy. With Taemin -- and all the members of SHINee -- you will never get the same thing twice. Everything he releases will be a new style and sound and, yet, it will still be very "Taemin". As SM's experimental boy group, SHINee are meant to be the first to do almost everything, and they are expected to come up with something new that no one has ever seen or heard before with every release of theirs. As Kpop's trendsetters, the members of SHINee reinvent the industry with every comeback. Guilty is Taemin's 4th mini Korean album, but he has been in the industry for more than 15 years as a member of SHINee and he has been a solo artist since 2014. Therefore, including his full-length albums, mini albums, and singles, etc., as well as his Japanese albums, Taemin has more than a dozen solo albums. Not to mention the 2 albums he has as a member of SuperM. And on top of all that, SHINee currently has 14 full-length Korean and Japanese albums, just as many repackaged albums, numerous mini albums, etc. You have a TON to catch up on. :D Now you need to check out Taemin's Killing Voice performance. I have a feeling when you watch his Killing Voice you will find that hearing him sing "Guilty," as well as his other songs, live that you will be even more impressed. Plus, you need to see one of his live performances of "Guilty" to see the complete choreography. There is a reason why Taemin is like none other.

I am so glad u find u in this comment section. =0] Always love hearing ur info on Taemin. Taemin said recently that he debuted at 16 which made me so confused. So is 16 the Korean age? ty.
@milindawilson9175
@milindawilson9175 11 месяцев назад
@@marinal. Yes 16 would be Taemin's Korean age. He was 14 years old in international age when he debuted. You will also often hear them say this is their 16th anniversary when it's really their 15th year because in Korea, everything starts at 1 year old.

Thank you for watching him! Taemin is the Idol of Idols and the king of kpop for a reason. You should really deep dive Shinee and Taemin, you are missing out. Their contribution to kpop is endless, 15 years and going strong. They are paragons of the kpop industry, each of the members known by single names and them being literally who everyone looks to. Taemin himself is known as Korea’s MJ. His artistry is amazing. As a performer he is unparalleled. So many Shinee and Taemin songs are columns of the industry, Key is huge in the entertainment industry particularly in hosting, Onew is known for his voice, and Minho is an actor outside of Shinee. Plus Jonghyun, our Angel, is known for being one of the first kpop artists to write/produce their own album. Shinee tracks: Replay (their debut in 2005), Sherlock, Lucifer, Everybody, Ring Ding Dong, Why So Serious, View, Our Page, Marry You, Atlantis, Juice Taemin songs: Danger, Press Your Number, Want, Move, Thirsty, Soldier, Sayonara Hitori, Heaven, Criminal, Idea, 2 Kids

As Shinee members went through their mandatory military service, Taemin being the youngest member of Shinee would obviously be last to go. With members gone, Taemin and others who hadn't left yet did what music they could...this gave Taemin the opportunity to dive into solo music...starting in 2014 with "Danger", an mv you gotta check out. Being inspired by MJ like many kpop artists are, "Danger" is his homage to MJ in his own intense way. He is deemed the "MJ of Kpop" for a reason...all his other solo mvs are great as well.. "Move" "Want" "Idea" "Criminal" "Advice"....if you haven't seen any of these, you should see why he is an intense storyteller in the Taemin fashion that he garnered through his solo career...this "Guilty" also is intense, and he is bringing music he was focused on in the military, just having discharged in April. Yes, Taemin is that man, the man is KING. 💙🌺

TAEMIN IS A KING
@ShawolOT5
@ShawolOT5 11 месяцев назад
💎 What can we say other than THE KING IS BACK!? I absolutely love how deep Taemin’s songs and MVs are…they aren’t just entertainment or for clicks/views, but he tells a story. He wants to make people THINK and question and reflect. This isn’t something one can watch and then move on. His concepts are intellectual and personal. 💎 Regarding the song itself, his haunting whispers with the beautiful runs on top give me chills…the rap section was unexpected, but fit perfectly and suited the song more than I’d have imagined. I loved how the song switched gears in unexpected ways…there are certain formulas that most kpop songs follow, but this moved in ways I’d never imagined it would and it’s perfect. 💎 As far as the choreography…holy freaking moly. I KNEW it would blow my mind…of course it would-it’s Taemin! With that said, I can’t help but wonder if this isn’t some of his best work to date. It’s provocative without being slutty. Not only that, but you can SEE him being jerked around without any hands on him at all. Around the tenth time watching the video, I happened to notice some of what the background dancers were doing (it’s hard to peel my eyes from Taemin!). There are some genius moves that add to the overall look of the stage…some possibly inspired by breakdancing and some quite acrobatic. I can’t wait to see how it plays out on stage! 💎 All I can really say besides the King has returned is, if loving Taemin is a crime, I’m “G-U-I-L-T-Y … Who's gonna punish me?” 💎

Hi John, thanks for another amazing review, this time of Taemin's Guilty launching video. I've read around in some reviews people suggesting there's not that much connection between the lyrics and the video contents itself. Here's my interpretation: I'm not that Taemin follower who is aware of every move in his career and personal life, but I've bumped into some news that he had a depressing experience in his days in the military. Some scenes of the video show a dormitory full of young people that could be associated to a military dorm. At the same time, one could compare such a place with a hospital or similar institution dedicated to treat mental illness patients or, even, drug addicts. In fact, some flashes bring what appears to be male nurses manipulating the bodies of these young people, like conditioning them while they are in a sort of anguish. Could be a depiction of these repressing institutions, this merciless society trying to shape, restrict and contain the liberty, creativity and expression of these new generations? There's even a take in which Taemin's character in the video appears trying to breathe by a inhaler... He's suffocating. In another he has scraped his own flesh in agony and hangs on the legs of what seems to be a hospital caregiver, like a drug addict who is in treatment and at the mercy of who is molding him to be normal like all the others. ...but suddenly he appears with a crown of feathers in his head, surrounded by all who seem to support him... As in... He cannot be framed by the system, he's the king who stands in the crowd... In spite of suffering so much inside. In this interpretation the lyrics could be seen as a subtle hint to addiction to medication against depression and/or drugs that many young people undergo due to the pressures of trying to adjust to so many social expectations. So, for me, it's not only a love fixation the lyrics insinuates, it could be something more: "(...) Poison apple Spellbound, you wanna take a bite? Hand outstretched In danger, sinking deeper Just a little more, that’s all it takes Messing you up, I throw it all away Gift you once as a bait, then I take everything Make you addicted, you can't tell pain from love That's what we've become (...)" As a matter of fact, the kPop idols live in an enormously competitive industry in a country in which expectations of success are huge in every area what, by the way, results in one of the biggest suicide rates worldwide (according to the World Health Organization, it's the fourth highest in the world still this year 2023). I could not avoid thinking of Moonbin, whom many attribute suicide as cause of death, but koreans are very reserved when talking about these matters. It could be a tribute to his friend Moonbin and others who are suffering mentally up to relying on chemicals to ease the pain, eventually sinking to addiction. If this reading is right, the lyrics and the video are very correlated. ...and I would extend my congratulations to Taemin and his team not only due to the elevated value of this work artistically, but to expose, even if implicitly, a very important subject to the south korean society and all nations around the world, to strengthen the networks of support against mental illness, drug addiction and suicide. Detail: In here I am not implying that Taemin is a drug addict or anything, just that his performance could raise a metaphor to talk about what few are taking seriously in the kPop industry...

Taemin is one of the special ones - he has that undefinable it factor. He’s one of the best dancers in K-pop. His choreo is some of the hardest I’ve seen and he executes it flawlessly. One of my friends and I have a K-pop dance super group wishlist and he was one of the first on the list, if not the first. He’s also a super sweet demon weirdo in the best way. One thing I really appreciate about him is how secure he is in his Taemin-ness (there’s no other word for it). He often does challenges and other things with younger idols/dancers and isn’t afraid to let them shine. He truly enjoys when someone can step up to his level. Not many people have that in them. There’s a reason so many idols look up to him and he never seems to take that for granted. Like I said - one of the special ones. He did Suchwita recently - definitely worth checking out.

I have been Army and Shawol (SHINee fan) since 2020 when I met both. SHINee debuted in 2008 and were already famous when BTS debuted but they made no fun of them as the other groups did. SHINee have been innovative and trendsetter in the industry. Taehyung is friend with Minho of SHINee, they worked together in the drama "Hwarang" and Jimin is best friend with Taemin himself (Taemin was one of his role models). SHINee as a group and as soloists have a huge discography both in Korean and Japanese. 5 amazing singers, dancers, performers. They are worth the journey since their debut. And they are a bunch of chaotic and nice/crazy personalities 😂 much like BTS. I would recommend you to watch a guide to them, as well as episode 20 of Suchwita starring Taemin: it's interesting and really funny.

I just want to express my gratitude to you for reacting to SHINee. There are a lot of new gen artists that always get reacted to so many don't actually Know about SHINee and how just beyond talented they are. I've been following them since 2010 but was unable to listen to them for a few years after Jonghyun's death and am trying to support their newer things more and more now as well. I really appreciate that you take the time to check out both their new things, their older things and their solos. There are so so many things to recommend for you with their performances it's difficult to know where to start. But I strongly recommend some of their older live performances from when they were still 5 as well. I mentioned it to you in another video comment but "Ring ding dong + Lucifer" live or "EVIL" live are some you definitely shouldn't miss out on. But to be honest, all their lives are insane. Anyway, really thank you for these videos. Many of us are still heartbroken about what happened with Jonghyun, so it's healing to watch people like you find this amazing group. Taemin became this great vocalist with Jonghyun's help and guidance and you can tell how similar their styles are now. There was a radio show several years ago where Taemin said his ambition was to become as good of a vocalist as Jonghyun and Onew, so as a long time fan I'm really proud of his journey and his accomplishments to achieve that dream he had and even go beyond it. I don't think anyone's ever worked as hard as Taemin to get to where he is now.

Hi, i am back. Good reaction, ty. Good song. On 1st listen I felt strongly like crying. The tears were held in though the whole song though. But at the end i had to wipe my eyes. I just want to hug Taemin. On my 2nd listen i read the lyrics. And after i wondered was my reaction all in my head. There are layers here upon layers. Loved the fits and makeup. Some of the subject matter was an issue for me. I know Taemin had lots of mental health issues in the military. Based on the teasers I thought he would talk about it. And it looks like he does in his own way. I really want to hear his views on this song and album. I watched Suchwita ep. w. Taemin right after this. Glad he is back giving us headaches, lol. Perfect vocals in my opinion. The feathered headband is a Native American thing for me. I feel it has an important significance. The lyrics had nothing to do with the images in the MV. I think this is way over my head and i will watch some reactions to see what others think of Taemin's msg here. Feels based on imagery. Great choreo. Need the dance practice ASAP. =0p Borahae. -NY USA 2019 Army💟 Loved that long skirt. He looked so good, dang. I also was getting examination. After a few reactions i am thinking he is showing military and psych mental health area. Like a mix of places. I was thinking were ppl saying he was guilty of making them feel attracted to him? Does he feel guilty about something? Lots of thoughts going through my head. I am so glad u watched the teasers. The more i watch the more i think that he is combining the military facility with a mental health facility. And we know he suffered in the military and asked for a transfer. So it seems he is portraying his struggles here. @ireneserrano4570 said on 10/30/23 I'm still confused about the exact meaning, but again, there could be different interpretations as with his other songs. But from the visuals i get the feeling it refers to abuse, it can be at so many levels. It can have psychological and physical or both, you can suffer it under your own family, friends, at school, at work, in love relationships... Then who is the perpetrator? many times you can be trapped by those people, even in a group or the society, you don't even realise but by the time you realise you have been actually abused THEY are gone, who can you blame exactly? I have gone through my own dose of abuse, and after years you realise but you end up blaming yourself too, as if you hadn't known better but then you allowed it...😢 Also the images of classroom and rooms with beds, and a kid surrounded by a group...Taemin is watching him from the door as if he was watching himself as a kid... also at the end those kids in school uniforms, all spread around, one grabbing the legs of an adult that grabs his leg, bleeding... South Korea also has buIIying as endemic.. at schools (kids also teachers committing suicide as they can't either find understanding or help by their surroundings, on the contrary they are treated as the outcast and weirdos) also at the workplace, in the Military, in university... Their social rules, their stratification and obsession with seniority, comparing their ages, wealth, possessions, their marks, everything... the social pressure on kids and in general on everyone to be better, the most xx the most xx...). The crazy mix of their traditional values and the contrast to the monstruos capitalism that devours all traditional values... traditional collectivism versus wild individualism... @pamela-623 said on 10/30/23 this is an amazing comeback, so artsy so taemin, shawols had lots of interesting theories, my favorite being that this is an interpretation of the struggles in military enlistment, young men being taken, examined and given a gun, i find it so fascinating @princesssunshine79 said on 10/31/23 From what I have picked up here and there, I THINK, don't quote me, the song is about training at an extremely young age in a very exploitive industry, his horrible experience while doing his military service, and his own mental health. Again, I am not positive about any of this. But, for Taemin, it makes a lot of sense. Especially the last two bits because his 2 years away was a nightmare that really messed with his mental health and depression. I hope this helps a wee bit. 😁 @sumim2192 said on 11/1/23 Just a note, In July (I think), Taemin updated his Instagram bio with a famous quote from Hermann Hesse's famous novel Demian “The bird fights its way out of the egg. The egg is the world. Who would be born must first destroy a world. The bird flies to God. That God's name is Abraxas.” I think his outfit with the feather hat represents the god Abraxas. @prisonbreakd said on 10/31/23 The way he does dark concepts is so amazing to me. I think if you think about how guilt feels, the video/song represents it perfectly. The way he moves through the corridors and outside, and the choreography feels like he is out of control, and being suffocated by the situation, he is overwhelmed and struggling to understand up from down, invisible and visible hands push him around. You can't help but feel sad or sorry for him, despite him singing that he's done something horrible. And I think it's because, unlike in "Want", he is not proud or embracing it here; his pain, struggle and guilt are obvious. It's haunting. To me, the overall story of the video was that love (and life) is not always cutesy and sweet; it can come with a dark side, conflicting feelings, being intense and too much. You can do things you regret, and it can spin out of control, you can be aware of doing something wrong and not know how to stop, you can want things that are not good for you or someone that you care about. You can hurt people and be aware of what you are doing but not know how to do it better. You can love the wrong people, make mistakes and feel... well, guilty. It's just a very painful side of human experience that we don't like to look at because guilt and shame go together and make us very uneasy. @pandakholin said on 10/31/23 9:55 Yep. Rian, Simeez, Noze and Rozalin. They’ve been Taemin’s backup dancers since Criminal. Also here is Suzy Hong and Kim Haeun. Only the best of the best for Taemin. @lunemaline1338 said on 10/31/23 Taemin has spoken before how he regrets debuting so young in a very exploitative industry, that mixed with how hard his military enlistment period was for his mental health I see this being about him kinda losing his innocence and being thrown into violence. the shot of him looking at one of the dancers that kinda looks like a younger version of him having fun with everyone else to him being in this medical room and being moved like a puppet, forced to hold a gun and being stripped of his individuality by wearing this school uniform. That’s what I love about Taemin’s music and MV’s it starts to make you think and theorize, he’s super creative. @schuylernefcy3466 said on 10/31/23 Other note, It's like Taemin is singing the part of the abuser and dancing the part of the abused and I can't believe how hauntingly beautiful it is.

I support your last paragraph… TEAMIN says that CRIMINAL, ADVICE, and GUILTY are a collection(I think RIZZNESS could be included). I watched ADVICE first and then went and slowly read the lyrics on a lyrics site. There was one line that made it all click. No one would put that in there without a serious reason. Then I started taking everything in the songs seriously. To me GUILTY confirms it. I recently saw how the lyrics are the voice of the perpetrator yet he performs as the victim. The lyrics tell me he is NOT talking about “mental health issues”… he is talking about WHO and WHAT specifically caused his mental health issues. To me…this is a victim’s anthem for everyone❤️‍🩹💪🏽💖. A retribution.

I don't know a lot about SHIN'ee as a group, but Taemin as a solo artist is one of the best ! He has is own color artistry, mixing dark and soft, sweet and sour. Both Taemin and Jimin have this same "magic touch", high pitch voice, very unique and distinctive, a delicate/elegant/powerful/sensual charisma, they can both tell a story with their bodies and facial expression, grabbing you in their own world through their visual narrative and poétic voice without letting you breathe during a performance. You should watch a live performance of Guilty , it's mezmerising ! The one on Music Bank KBS World TV let me speechless (witch is ... unusual for me LOl ! )

Thank you for this reaction, John! This is only the second Taemin solo that I have seen and both are intensely dramatic performances. No surprises at the excellence of the choreo - Taemin has been voted the best dancer in K-pop. So great that we are able to fully appreciate Taemin's impressive vocals; the more hard-driving group songs tend to overshadow how good a singer he is. Full disclosure, my focus tends to be on Minho in their group songs so I tend to gloss over everyone else, ha, ha, ha.Yes, please to more Shinee reactions, especially their solo works.
