Metal Vocalist First Time Reaction - The Warning - Enter Sandman Live Cover 

The Warning is going to take over the world…this is on blacklist album for Metallica.

Her playing a Gibson Explorer is serendipitous, as it was gifted to her earlier by Lzzy Hale, during them opening for Halestorm for their 2022 US tour.

The funny thing is they composed, recorded, mixed & mastered this in 7 days (across 3 countries), rather than 7 years. Definitely check out the studio version (OMV) with Alessia as well. It’s almost a different version than even this one. & they’ve also done this live with a string-section (hopefully we’ll get the official video of that as well someday)

This song is the first in the list of the 30th anniversary of Metallica's Black List Album in 2021, where many artists from different genres performed Metallica covers, and The Warning was invited along with Alessia Cara to do this version. Simply, one of the best Covers of that 30th anniversary album that was for charity fundraising.

I saw a notice that band maid and The Warning are having a concert together in Japan in June.

Europetour in April with 97% of tickets sold out. They travel to Japan for shows in June. They return to Europe in July to participate in 10 festivals in 29 days and more shows in the Netherlands. 3 festivals scheduled in the second half of the USA that should be part of the American tour... Release of the new album in June. They just had the best show at the Vive Latino Festival last weekend, playing to 50000 people. There are already shows scheduled for 2025... They deserve to conquer the world!

Lars said to do something different so they turned it upside down and backwards.. Starts with "Take my hand" The original ends with that.. They end with the iconic riff, the original starts with it, etc etc. Add in their signature harmonies and this is a fantastic piece of work!

Funny you said they had 9 years to perfect their version of Enter Sandman. In reality, they had 1 week. The Warning was contacted by Alessia Cara 's management team to collaborate in recording a Metallica cover during the 2020 pandemic to feature on Metallica's Blacklist album . From finding a producer to recording it in a studio was all done in one week to meet Metallica's deadline. The collaboration with Alessia was all done through zoom due to the pandemic. And yes, Metallica loved this version. May I suggest Dust to Dust as your next reaction from the same concert since you enjoyed Pau, the drummers vocals so much. Thanks John🤟

I have to admit, I am not a Metallica fan, and I was sick of this song, until this version came along. A lullaby where Dany very sweetly puts you to bed, then rouses the troops, shares a little prayer, the angel chorus comes to sing you to sleep, then Boom, the hammer drops. I think of this very much as the female version of the Sandman tale. So good. Delicate, powerful, soothing, strong, gentle, fierce-all at the same time. I love this one.

It is the first song on the Metallica Blacklist Album, celebrating the 30th anniversary of the Black Album. So Metallica & team have definitely heard it and liked it ;)

DPA/TW and Alessia Cara certainly understood the assignment! Alessia Cara is a Grammy winning Canadian Pop and R&B singer... they had 10 days to rip this rendition of *Enter Sandman* from the ether and make it a darker, more eerie, and a more haunting lullaby than the original metal version... this was done because they, and many other artists from numerous genres, were invited by Metallica to take one of the songs from the original "Black" album, keep the lyrics and change it up how ever you like... play it backwards, upside down, whatever... this was all for the 30th anniversary of the "Black" album... all the submissions from 50someodd artists were put on the 2021 "The Metallica Blacklist" album... the proceeds from the album sales are split 50/50 with half going to Metallica's "All Within My Hands Foundation" and the other half being donated to a charity of the participating artists' choice. in the OMV, Dany (guitar) and Alessia share the lead vocals until they are in the three doorways when Dany takes over and Alessia does more of the background oooohs and aaaahs... the version they play in concert has Dany doing the vocals with a backing track of Alessia's ohhhs and ahhhs... of course Ale (bass) and Pau (drums) join in with their angelic harmonies in both... this is a fantastic reimagining of the iconic original... this 60+ year old rocker loves both versions of *Enter Sandman* but this one by TW and Alessia gets more airtime these days 😹 TWA ⚡🤘😸🤘⚡ TWA

Great reaction. I saw The Warning twice in 2022 opening for The Pretty Reckless. The lead singer talked quite a bit about their love for Metallica, even changing to a Metallica guitar for this song. I thought “oh, please don’t do a cover”, then half way thru the song thinking it might be the greatest thing I’ve ever heard. Also, midway into it you can’t take your eye off of Paulina the drummer. They’re all 3 excellent, but Pau is so captivating and she steals the show! The crowd was in shock, realizing they heard something truly exquisite. 🤘👏👏

John, I second the request by gregory for their cover of Atlas Rise at the Whisky. Before watching know that at that night they did an impromptu encore with that song after performing a well over 2 hours straight setlist and were already exhausted which defintely shows when Ale has to repeatedly drop her arm off the neck of her bass cuz she was so tired. They absolutely killed it and like he mentioned this was pre-COVID so they were still all teenagers here. It’s also a rare recording because they normally did not regularly include in their setlist when they played. There is another take from The Warning Cave (at home session studio) but The Whisky is defintely an over the top performance and a must see.⚠️⚡️⚡️⚡️

This song is track number one on Metallica´s Black list album. It was a Collab between The Canadian pop singer Alessia Cara and The Warning (That´s her oo-oh´s you hear , TW has kept her voice in their live shows). I was so tired of ES so I had almost suppressed the song, then came three young women and revived it! DP&A are masters.

There were 53 artists invited to take a song from the Black album and given free license to rearrange it any way they liked. Be sure to check out the official music video as well. There are nuances that in studio version that are missed when they play it live, especially when it is Paulina doing the prayer.

Since this project is celebrating 30 year anniversary of the Black Album. The artists were free to do what they wanted with the song they had. But with one stipulation. A man working for Alessia Cara also did International work for The Warning. He suggested both artists to do a collaboration. Metallica said go ahead. They were asked by Metallica to change it up a bit - only condition - don't change the lyrics! They recorded it in 10 days with Alisia Cara also on vocals and it appears on Metallica's "Black List" album - Track #1. Okay, lets clear something up. Metallica saw their cover from 10 years ago and asked them to recreate it for the "Blacklist" album. They got Alessia Cara to join them but their parts were done separately due to COVID. This version here is The Warnings own interpretation of the song, without Alissa Cara, and I think it's way better. Just my thoughts and opinion.

I think Metallica's take on this song was pretty positive given that this was the first track on the 30th anniversary Black List album. They had lots of artists cover their songs and The Warning got the spot as the first track? Must have meant they liked it. ⚡
