Miley is amazing. She has performed covers with Billy Joel, and Elton Jhon. And many others. She is a great singer and artist. People underestimate her because of Disney and her wild days trying to shed the Disney image.

I have to agree with that. She has *real* talent. There must be something about Disney and that “squeaky clean wholesome” image they try to enforce that can be poison to an artist. Miley, by far, isn’t the first to struggle with that nor will she likely be the last.

@@queent3343 She’s naturally an alto with an extended upper range. Vocal damage darkened her tone and added grit, but that happened to Stevie Nicks also and no one is trying to take her legitimacy away.

@@CMch22 She doesn't sound like an alto in her earlier years. And yes, the very low, raspy sound is from vocal cord surgery as it didn't exist before that. And yes, I agree, surgery doesn't change the fact that she is a great singer. It just changed her sound.

Miley Cyrus is an incredible singer. She handles her voice like a master cratfswoman, I think few are as good as her. Always puts her heart in what she´s doing. I´m not surprised Metallica would do this with her. She´s really not your typical popstar, by any stretch

Exactly. She is truly talented. If people hear this without knowing who is singing, they will appreciate it more maybe? Miley has such a unique tone to her voice so most people would recognise her voice straight away. So many singers that sound similar. Miley, Sia, Billie Eilish, Adele. All specialists and instantly recognisable. We need more rock collaborations.

I was forced to listen to Miley at home due to lil sis being a huge Hannah Montana-fan. However her voice was good even back then, though juvenile, as well. I knew that Disney would fuck her up as they did most of that generation of girls but her voice man.. Always knew she had a special voice. Just gets better and better. More refined, more rough, more everything. I'm genuinly happy for her. Eccentric or not, she's genuine and her voice is unique.

If you haven't seen any of Miley's recent stuff (2017-present) I can see why this would be a big shock for you 😂Miley actually has a song featuring Joan Jett, and the entire era of her album 'Plastic Hearts' was kind of in that vibe. However, even years ago, Miley was putting out covers that really showed off this side of her voice and artistry, but she certainly has brought that image to the forefront in the last 6 or so years.

No one was more shocked than I was…especially how damn well it worked. The interview portion was amazing as well. Elton John made an appearance, and blew Hetfield away with his comment about this song. Edit: “Hoooooo, Miley, makin’ a fan outta me!” Right?!? Words I never thought I’d hear myself say either, yet here we are.

One of my fave performances of Miley’s was at the 2019 MTV VMA awards where she did the live version of “Slide Away“ she’s got some bad ass rasp/growl but is sooo in control of her voice. Her range is pretty mind blowing imo. I believe she is an old soul. 🙏💚

I was such a nonbeliever the first time I decided to watch this. Miley rocked this for sure and if I understand, this was the first time they sang this song together. some of my personal favorites: say hello to heaven with temple of the dog on the Chris Cornell tribute was amazing (and seeing how the audience started distrustful of her amazing skills and end up falling completely into it at the end is beautiful), zombie by the cranberries also amazing, heart of glass is also amazing, and I love her rendition of rebel yell with Billy idol himself!

I've never been a fan of Miley but I remember when her version of Nothing Else Matters was released on Spotify, I instantly added it to my playlist. Her voice have changed a lot over the years and truth is her voice now really opens up doors to more heavy music genres - she got so much grit, soul and power now.

Yea this was an eye opener for me too my face probably looked like yours did once they got going. Miley killed it here the interview prior was good too. OHHHH, I forgot-another fave was watching her sing “Malibu“ in her own comfort zone ( I think it’s called…) like backyard sessions or something like that. She’s chillin in a long t-shirt and cowboy boots if memory serves me correctly… I LOVE this version-love the additions she changed it up with. I appreciated her vulnerability and for sure the empath in me was bawling! I got lost in the song-the story-like I was watching a movie-powerful lyrics! AND it’s so visible how connected she is to her band and them to her. I was skeptical of her when she first came onto the scene- after Hannah Montana… Her album “Plastic Hearts”and the 2 songs I mention, absolutely pulled me in. I have four or five playlists of her and I’m a believer!!💚🙏💚🙏
