I have a Metalcloak ARB kit on my Rubicon and love it. BUT I wish there were more video's here highlighting how good they are. I was at a Jeep event in Big Bear, Ca and several people had no idea who Metalcloak was. Metalcloak you should have a contest or something having Metalcloak viewers post video's of their Metalcloak kits on the trail. Winnig video gets..........(whatever you determine). You get FREE publicity and the word out. P.S. I'm saving my pennies to get your tie rod and drag link.... YES PEOPLE THEY HAVE THOSE TOO !!!!!!!!!!!!! Keep up the good work guys and your welcome for all the advertising I do for you !!!! LOL

Eric H How true was the size of your lift? I'm pre-shopping for a 2.5-inch lift, and I love what I see from Metalcloak, but I've had several folks say their springs (like Rock Krawler) give much more lift than advertised. The entire reason I'm looking at 2.5-inch lifts is b/c I want 2.5 (maybe 3) inches, not 4-plus! ;-)

I hear ya. I went with 3.5 because I love the look of a big jeep and I wanted no issues with clearance. I didn't take my stock measurements but my 2014 JKUR now sits as follows. App 24 inches from ground to bottom of the drivers side rock rail. App 24.5 inches from ground to bottom of stock front bumper and apps 76 inches from ground to top of hard top. Hope that helps. You seriously won't be disappointed in Metalcloak. Road quality is great and off road its fantastic. Its a complete kit and easy to install in your garage. The reason their springs give more lift then advertised is because they are assuming you are weighing your jeep down with more armor and metal bumpers, etc. If you don't have all that, like me, you will be more then advertised.

Do your lift right, the first time and do the dual rate metal cloak. I only recommend metal cloak lifts to everyone interested in jeep lifts.

What is the coil rate of the primary section of the coil stack ?...and what length is that section minus the tender coil portion of the stack ?.
@matsonian2
@matsonian2 6 лет назад
For which coil? Each of the coils we offer have their own rates and lengths... as a note, most of the coils on the website have length specs spelled out on their individual product pages. As for rates, Metalcloak's coil rates are proprietary and are not published or shared.

Matson Breakey Was looking at the 6 inch lift coil for the JK...I don't have a jk but my jeep should be on par with the sprung corner weight of a well built 4dr jk . I'M tossing around what I'm going to do when I stretch the front out shortly...keep coil/shock using a coil that I don't need to beat up like my current ones that I have captured both ends to accommodate the travel , and going with high end king shocks, or just going coilovers I have considered ori struts as well but I am still not sold on their reliability. I really don't need the extreme ability to tune that coilover or struts offer for a slow speed only crawler . But not knowing the rate of the primary road section of the coil stack there is no way to know the lift they will provide or if they will be firm enough to not be sloppy ...My front sprung corner weight is right around 800lbs .

So I know a dual rate shock means the coil has a soft portion and a stiff portion and is meant to ride better and still tow the same. However I've recently have seen a triple rate coil and I'm confused if this is just tricky word promotion or if its the real the deal. Does anyone know if triple rate coils are a thing? Are the better then dual rate?

Does bed springs manufactor your coils? I noticed they make teraflex also
@SmokeytheJeep

Robert Bellamy What's more, Teraflex's video fired a subtle shot across the bow at MC, and MC now uses not just the same company, but the same person in their spring video? Very interesting.

I noticed teraflex slam at dual rate

Robert Bellamy That TF video is also the only one I've seen from them where comments have been disabled. That's pretty telling, too. Now, MC doesn't get off scott free, either. It's obvious the Betts engineer is reading scripted material in this video, and they're implying less-than-pure motives in their competitors' spring marketing. The most interesting thing to me is that I hadn't thought these companies were direct competitors. I've viewed MC as a higher-end company, and TF as the mid-range "Chevrolet" of lift makers. I'm very surprised to see them go toe-to-toe like this. Competition can only be good for us, the consumers, though!

Robert Bellamy Yes, there are only a couple companies in the US with the capability to manufacture a True Dual Rate Coil according to our specs. At Metalcloak, our principals have a 20+ year relationship with Betts so when we entered the Suspension market we had full confidence in their ability to meet our needs. Our engineers worked closely with Betts to achieve the precise proprietary specs of the True Dual Rate Coil, which is a very difficult coil to manufacture and even with Betts capabilities, it took a them a few times to get it right.

which is more comfortable? dual rate coil with rocksport shocks or with fox shocks?
@metalcloak
@metalcloak Год назад
Comfort is subjective. We built our suspension on a stiff coil, soft shock, philosophy. The RockSports are specifically valved to work in synergy with our coils. Fox shocks tend to be stiffer than the RockSports, so that can diminish our targeted ride quality, but different drivers have different opinions on what feels comfortable. Your best bet is to give us a call at 916-631-8071 and one of our team members can help you decide which is the best for your driving style and jeep objectives.

so im looking into buying these to replace my rubicon express sport springs. you guys advertise your dual rate springs as they wont sag with armor ( im going to install a poison spyder front bumper, rear bumper and sliders). would adding a roof rack with gear on top cause them to sag alot? or will the springs stay the same fairly the same without a load on top the jeep
@metalcloak
@metalcloak 8 лет назад
Any additional weight added to any vehicle will have an effect on it's suspension. The question is how will that suspension reacts. In the case of our systems, we designed our coils to be the advertised height on a fully loaded Jeep. After market steel bumpers, winch, 120 lb spare tire, steel flares, skid plates, etc. Whereas a stock Jeep will sit about 1" higher on our coils then the advertised lift size.

I really want to get these springs BUT... do i really need to get their 6pak shocks? What if i just bought some Ranchos rs9000x. Will i have issues such as over extending the shocks or will i completely bottom out?
@20GATE91
@20GATE91 8 лет назад
im on the same the boat. i have the 9000 too. im sure they will work fine. i think the 6packs will extend much longer than the ranchos so you dont get the amount of droop as the packs
@metalcloak
@metalcloak 8 лет назад
You don't need the 6Paks, but we believe in a soft shock , stiff coil, relationship. So the other shocks we sell are ones that follow that philosophy. We cannot recommend other shocks that we have not tested. If you get a stiff shock with our coils you will have a stiff ride that you may not be happy with.

i know this is 5 years old but i think the term dual rate is misleading. nowhere in a driving scenario are there two different rates offroad included. the bottom portion is what is at work on the road. the upper half just helps the coil press down on the axle...im not so sure there is any dual anything going on here.
@matsonian2
@matsonian2 3 года назад
The coil itself is manufactured with two rates. A soft rate and a stiff rate. It is not about what rates are functional at what times, but about distinguishing the unique manufacture of the coil itself. This unique method of producing selectively active rates is why we were able to build a coil that functions the way the manufacture intended on road and still maintains stability and functionality at the extremes of off road articulation.
