Join us in our search for WW2 relics in the German forests.
We had a long and exhausting day detecting but it was worth every drop of sweat. In this video (which was day two of our four day trip) I found really one of my best finds everrrr.

That's one of the earliest versions of the panzer assault badge. If it was a later version one, there'd either be 25, 50, 75 or 100 to signify howmany engagements the soldier had. In the video it looked like it was bronze, can you confirm if it was? It didn't look silver, so whoever had it was not part of a tank crew. Being bronze, it must've belonged to either a panzergrenadier, or a crewmember of an assault gun, part of a recon. group or just someone that was attached to a panzer division. In any case. Assuming the owner of the medal was still alive, it must've been one badass dude to stay alive that long. Probably died in the closing stages of the 2nd world war defending the last lines of defence around berlin. Hat off to that dude. Very awsome and rare find notheless! Treasure that one!

Something I would like to suggest that would possibly make your videos more interesting is that if you cut briefly to a photo of the objects after you have taken them home and cleaned them. You could also show museum quality representations of objects that you find. For example if you find a part of something you could show a photo of that object attached to the larger whole object from photos of them you find on the internet or in a museum.
@ianwatson129
@ianwatson129 5 лет назад
I find the style that is used very interesting. It would be a shame (in my opinion) to change the format just because many other youtube channels use your suggestion.

Kind of humbling thinking that someone, regardless of their political ideology, was carrying and handling those items. Feel a certain reverence out of respect for those lost or fallen. Not all Germans were bad, not all 'Allied' troops were good. We're human, we're flawed, we make mistakes, huge mind boggling mistakes. Or just plain evil.

at 5.03 that looks like a 30mm armour piercing round, not a grenade or explosive, the copper ring is there to bite into the rifling of the barrel that fired it, as the metal used for the rest of the projectile is too hard to bite the rifling, usually tungsten, but i would suspect tungsten was too hard to come by at that point in the war!

5:02 You probably could have kept that... I may be wrong about the caliber but I believe that is a 37mm armor piercing tank shell... It looks like it was already fired so it's not dangerous. In fact, it looks like the gunner missed what he was shooting at, since it doesn't look deformed as if it actually made contact with a tank's armor. Lots of light to medium tanks used that caliber for their main guns in WW2.
@mollysmoshingtankcrew9441
@mollysmoshingtankcrew9441 5 лет назад
The large shell with the rifled groves in it was likely a 20 or 30mm shell from a tank or field gun. probably 20mm used on many many vehicles it could literally be any number of vehicles or something similar.

Could be anything... 20 mm from a flak, russian 25mm...
@TheReformReport
@TheReformReport 5 лет назад
@@maxs.3238 Not a 20mm Flak, they weren't a squeeze bore round. Panzerbuchse rounds had that unique design to penetrate heavy armor, so if I had to guess, that is what that projectile is. They didn't make a lot of that ammo, as they used tungsten carbide in the core.
