Missed EX5 WereGaruru X ruling: (at 02:45, 09:30 & 15:18) WereGaruru X cannot recycle a card if you do not trash 2 for the first part of the effect. But fortunately it doesn't really affect the outcome(s) of this video so I will be leaving it as is! It was an ordeal trying to get a decent match between these 2 decks where both sides are able to fully showcase their mechanics, which is why this video took quite a while. Every Lv.6 in the MGX deck has the ability to remove EX5 MetalEte before it can rig Security, countering the monkey's forced attack combo. On the other hand, some lucky Security on MetalEte's part can break MGX's OTK and potentially setup a field that is close to impenetrable for Garuru. With my hectic schedule this year, at some point I had to make the call to just take the next match I record and include some bonus content which showcases the reverse outcome. (That's just for fun btw, the winner is still the one who took the first half of the video.) In any case, although I am quite sick of featuring it already, our first finalist has been decided! Let's see who rises to face it in Semifinal 2...
This was painful to watch as a massive MetalEtemon fan. But it does perfectly encapsulate what it's like playing the Sukamon deck. Usually it's an uphill battle and there is basically nothing you can do if memory chokes. But every now and then you get set up with your tamers and make a big board that gets you a win.
Can't wait to see Gracenova against MelgaX in the finals. Gracenova is a pretty hard matchup for purple Melga thanks to crescimon's stun. Would've loved to see Anubismon running rampant in this tournament since the deck smacks pretty hard on all the other decks in EX5 but still been a fun tournament.
I think the final play of the video showcased something really important here - against a single-stack deck like this (that has heavy name-reliance), SukaEte's best bet is to rush to fill the trash with the cards needed to activate KingSukamon. If MelgaX's stack is a Sukamon it can't Digivolve OR activate its inherited battle protection. Easier said than done, of course, but it is a way to strike surprisingly hard against this meta-topping foe.
I'm gonna predict before this starts that MGaru wins. He kinda dominated Round 1 while MetalEte struggled; and... well... MGaruru has the entire MGaru toolbox, the 2nd most supported archetype in the game after Greymon. My heart wants Ete and the poop gang to win but... Edit: Yeah; MetalGarurumon hard stomped 5-0. Poor Etemon. The alt scenario shows the value of memory tamers however.
Melga doing Melga things as per usual Monkey got hit into a delusional state after that beating sheesh Levia 7DL vs GraceNova definitely will be a fun one to watch next but how either of them will stack against Melga will be just as interesting if not more
I hate to bust out the rulebook here rust, but 2:43 according to the rules, if you dont perform the discard 2 to unsuspend, you can't do the following effect to add back to hand. Straight from the Japanese QnA. Can't really say how it affects the end result since we can't see the hands, but they wouldve had to drop at least 2 cards to grab back that metalgaruru ace the second time around
So, what is the setting for all of this, if I can ask? My thoughts when I did the little preview things for the BT 15 stuff was something like a neutral zone sort of thing, where all the different Digital worlds (and their respective human worlds) could meet. Just curious what your mindset is on this, if I'm not being dumb.
If MetalEtemon moved out Chuumon on his last turn, it would have protected MetalEtemon from the MetalGaruru On Attack Delete effect, so MetalGaruru couldn't swing else MetalEtemon would redirect and kill it. Would have been a game changer for the rest of the match.
Great match! What is the name of the song that starts at around 4:30? It feels so familiar but I can't remember where I know it from and it drives me crazy
Timeframe: 13:55, how did MetalGarurumon turn ends and MetalEtamon turn he draws? I thought it would still be Etamon turn like resuming, not ending? I don't understand.
At approx. 13:55, does the turn pass before the Ace overflow resolves as a result of deletion? Shouldn’t this be a continuation of the current turn for Metaleta?
The current turn was Melga, Omni triggered the security Ete, which caused the metalete to be played, killing Omni, triggering overflow, and then passing turn from Melga to metalete
Excellent video as always, just one question, why didn't OmegamonX/MetalgarurumonX protected itself with the Garurumon X effect? Was it fir show or is there a hidden rule I haven't read, because Inwas sure it could have survived every time MetalEtemon tried to delete it 🤔
It was more of a hypothetical situation rather than him actually being played. But actually I did off-screen, 1 of the cards was the pure Yellow BT14 Etemon so they wouldn't have been able to steal the 1 Memory haha
@@Deezgutz Problem with that is the repeated draws are coming from the ST6 Gabu and Garu, not the ST16 ones so hitting the new cards wouldn't stop anything.
@@shadowgarion I mean they could hit one or the other all the new gabu stuff is crazy in different ways I only say get rid of the new stuff unless they wanted to get rid of some starter deck stuff but that wouldn’t be great just for new player accessibility
I think garurux can win at the alternative match if you use bt9 x antibody. Metalgaruru ace atk delete lowest lv, were ess delete lv 4, evolve using x anti to mgx bt9 to bounce all lv 6
