This is not a song, it's a performance. His intention was to show everyone how angry and disturbed he was, like an actor in a stage play. There's no denying you can picture everything he's saying in your head. I don't LIKE hearing this, but I'm always impressed about how much emotion he shows in it
I don't think "His intention was to show everyone how angry and disturbed he was". Eminem doesn't write songs for us (just as no true artist does). This song was his way of coping or even just getting this shit out of his head! There's no way what so ever that Em thought "I'm gonna write a song to show people how pissed i am at her!" It's just that he was pissed and he wrote this song! We *get* to hear it. It wasn't written for us.
this song is one of the most theatric, masterfully artistic rap songs ever created. the fact that it makes you so uneasy that you need to laugh it out is amazing. But it is not made to make you feel comfy. He s trying to paint his emotions and the images of horror and despair in your head. Every time I listen to it, tears come to my eyes, definately not laughing. But its also one of my favourite songs of all time. Art, music and emotion arent supposed to be always positive, and most amazing artworks describe something really sad and horrible. EDIT: spelling
In a previous reaction you guys came to the conclusion that some of eminem's songs are therapeutic for him. This song is no different. Do fans listen to this? Yes, for the same reason you'd watch a movie. Like you guys said on your 'stan' reaction. You can picture the exact scenes as he's talking, no need for visual media. It's an expression of his emotions. This is the prime example of a song which you are not supposed to relate to, but to experience. You don't listen to metal track about war or demons or whatnot because you relate to it, it's an experience. In the case of most metal songs the experiences work uplifting, unlike this song, which works horrifying, ultimately making it equivalent to a horror film
That's the genius of Em's music. He can play with the viewer's emotions. If a song intentions to make you feel uncomfortable then you will feel uncomfortable if song intentions to make you laugh then you will laugh or if it intends to make you think then you will think.
Nice, now go ahead and react to "Bad Husband", it's an apology. Similar to "Cleaning out my closet" and "Headlights" (if u didn't listen to those two already, you need to!).
Man... Bad husband is such a great song! I love that Em recognises how he felt when writing song X isn't how he feels now and he will write another song to address that.
I wouldnt call me listening to this for fun. What's beautiful about this song is the emotion and the controversy! It's just amazing that this exists, the anger of the human psychology. Fascinates me
when you said ' i shouldnt have said that' it brought me straight back to the times when i used to listen to this to chill out..... some dark stuff... i love it still now just for the way marshal can portray his image
I know this is a year old. But this song is a prequel. Telling what happened before 97 'Bonnie & Clyde from his previous album. He was still pissed at Kim so kept bringing up their issues and that made great album material. Like U said, rather the song than him really acting out like when he allegedly pistol whipped Kim's new boyfriend at the time. But if you hear the original song from Slim Shady LP, it begins the way this song ends. (Dragging body to car and closing trunk)
I think the drum beat may be When the levee breaks with a kick removed. As far as this song I have alot to say that I'll do in person. When Jeff said "honey if you hear this playing, run". We all died laughing lolololol.
You have to understand the song as a piece of art, it's like a movie. The song purposely conveys discomfort by telling you an obviously made-up story, it does not have to be real, he has only taken the names of close people. It is not Marshall confessing something to you, it is an Eminem song. And as you say at the end, it may not be rap, it is the expression of an artist, who feels things as normal as anger, envy or desire for revenge, but takes all of that and transforms it into an incredible song. It is what artists do. Music is art, don't forget it.
Amongst most Eminem fans I know, this song is held more as a time capsule of Eminem's progression. This song was not a joke. This was a song he made to vent and was supposedly the first track recorded for the album. He's said before that if he didn't have this outlet he doesn't know what might have happened. This song was also used in court when Kim and Eminem were litigating against each other. Also the words "four" and "boy" are censored because this song was actually recorded before the Columbine Massacre (1998, Columbine being 1999). A leaked version of the uncensored version leaked before the album released and was met with a lot of dislike (likely obviously). This song is classified as Horrorcore. This song is a prequel to 97' Bonnie and Clyde.
I know, you probably have to listen to this song multiple times, to realize it, but this song is a goddamn Masterpiece! The whole Atmosphere, the Emotions put into this Track, the way he's done it, plus the way he's imitating Kim's voice, the Background noises, and the story itself... Eminem said about this, that its basically some kind of sick Lovesong, cause it shows how much he loved Kim, and how he was feeling when she left him and started a new Relationship with a guy who already had a Son(thats where the part with the 4 year old boy comes from) And the Song is a Prequel to ”97 Bonnie and Clyde" off his first album the Slim Shady Lp, maybe you could react to that aswell, cause it continues the Story of "Kim"
from what I've read on a old interview, one night she saw Em on stage beating a blow-up doll that resembled her while singing this and everyone was singing along and laughing so she went home and tried to commit suicide 💔. I wish we knew her reaction to "bad husband", it took 17 years, but he finally apologised properly on a song, i guess.
In a way this is like Darkness - a violent story told in a song, a movie without picture. You can see everything in your mind though. I love this song because it really stops me every time, I can feel it in my guts.
you should react to British rapper "Dave". you and your dad seem really switched on when noticing clever lyrics and daves lyrics are some of the most clever and powerful in the game at the moment. few songs off the top of my head: phsyco , Lesley , how I met my ex , streatham. seriously, give him a listen . keep up the good videos guys !
Don‘t know in you reacted to it already, but the song „Bonnie & Clyde“ from the Slim Shady LP is the direct sequel to „Kim“, although the release was before „Kim“. It starts with the dragging-sounds and the sound of the closing trunklid.
This is one of his most infamous songs showing he could write regardless of being serious or joking. They even removed this song from the censored version of the Marshall Mathers LP and replaced it with The Kids. Which is a funny song that was released in the Japan-exclusive Marshall Mathers LP Deluxe edition with The Way I Am remix with Marilyn Manson. Another song if you are wanting to see his speed is Speedom with Tech N9ne. But another song showing how he can bounce back and forth with someone seamlessly is any of the Bad Meets Evil songs he has with Royce Da 5'9".
xxxxxxD I just found the channel today and watched a bunch of your videos, as soon as I saw the thumbnail, I saved this video for the end :-D hahahaha Keep the good content ;-)
A few things to know about all this; This song though written second is a prequel to the song bonnie and clyde 97 off the slim shady lp which you should check out if you havent (fun fact he lied about taking hailie to chuck e cheese to record her parts on bonnie and clyde) This song was completely removed from the edited version of the CD and replaced with the song kids. Generally a song is edited with parts removed this is one of the only songs I can think of to be completely replaced. This song was made during the point in his life when kim had divorced and remarried.
great break up song by the way lol. its a very specific mood. and Edgar Allen Poe used to put out all kinds of horror poetry and its still used in schools today. someday this will be taught for the amazing production and imagery he puts into this with his word choice and vocals
I think a good song to do after this should be 'going through changes' For 2 reasons: 1: he is more calm and says how he still loves kim and he still wishes they were togwther. Without going crszy or screaming 2: it has a going through chsnges chorus from black sabbath song! Im sure your dad loves ozzy 😄
You cant take em too literal especially from that era, this is horror rap it's down to the ability to create a vivid picture of how some people can feel in such situations! The ability to paint a story of how someone would feel but never act on it! He didnt regret making this! You should listen too snoops views on this.
From when I'm gone to this 😂 😂 both sides of em in two videos 😂.think if he didn't make this song we wouldn't have the eminem we have now. He would serving a life sentance
I listen to it and it's one of my favorite from Eminem. I'd say something is wrong with you if you're so shocked by a song telling a story. What we generation we're having... Extremely shocked by a fucking song... Better pray we don't have a war in the next 50 years. If Netflix was behind this people would be so amazed. But when it's Eminem it's fucked up.
And tbh the fact that Eminem can make a song like this and make it catchy and be able to rap while shouting and murdering his ex wife :P He's a genius :P Fucked up, but a genius non the less lol
I listen to this song on my normal days and i feel personally attacked... Alright besides the jokes i love and listen to this because there's such a strong and emotional feeling in this song and there's a cool music playing. And also Kim had a baby from another dude that Em ended up adopting. Yeah i don't think him cheating on 18 was the same as this lol
Here’s a like for the video and I subscribe to the channel you definitely deserve it after having to go through that mate, how about for the next video to get a good laugh and jam to an awesome beat do without me an iconic classic
