If you like that, here a list of songs you can love too: - Ossigeno - Voglio una pelle splendida - Male di miele (music journalism call it the “Italian Smell like teen spirit”) - La vedova bianca (the english version, White Widow, was used in the Mr. Robot soundtrack) - Ballata per piccole iene - Quello che non c’è
He was a judge on the X Factor the year Maneskin participated and he chose them to become part of his team, he was basically their mentor so yeah, I'm pretty sure he supports them 😉
Afterhours made the first 3 albums in English but they were more successful when they switched to Italian language lyrics with several albums. One of their Italian albums (Ballate per piccole iene) was remade with English lyrics (Ballads for little hyenas) and one of the tracks (White Widow) was used in the soundtrack of one of the episodes of the American TV series Mr. Robot.
True story: I was at the concert of an obscure (but freaking wonderful) band from Naples at a tiny club in Milan and I walked out for a breather and---bam!--I ran in to this guy, Manuel Agnelli--literally ran into him--and when I looked up to apologise and realised who he was, all I could think to say was, "Ciao!" as if he knew me or something. Cracks me up after the fact every time I think of it.
Afterhours is a very good band, their reached their peak I think in the early 2000s, unfortunately totally underrated, rock is something Italy was unable to digest until Maneskin. Manuel Agnelli is very charismatic and he's got a "brain" if you know what a mean. I can tell you for sure that he's very good friend of Maneskin and he's been mentoring them during the XF. He's always praised them for their coesion as a band and for having their own identity even at such young age, for their performing skills and being so at ease on a TV show even with no experience, he gave them suggestions on how to improve their writing and composing process. Since then he's been acting like an "uncle" (he's born in 1966, Maneskin between 1999 and 2001) showing up once in a while like he did at Sanremo Festival for the performance you watched already. He was interviewed after they won the Eurovision Song Contest, he's never taken any credit only praised them for their accomplishments. I know for a fact they are in touch and talk frequently.
Actually Afterhours initially tried to make their debut on the American market. Their 1990 album "During Christine's Sleep" was named Album of the Month by Alternative Press magazine, and they were even invited to the New Music Seminar in NY. There were also contacts with Geffen which, however, did not lead to anything (among other things, Manuel Agnelli's English was never perfect). So in 1995 they decided to focus on the Italian market with songs in Italian, and since that year they always had their cult following (me included). Only in the last six years Manuel Agnelli decided to focus on his solo and television career.
Afterhours are insanely good and sort of underrated. Plenty of awesome songs to enjoy. And yes, Manuel Agnelli definitely has that special "something", maybe we can call it charisma
Can you react to "Voglio una pelle splendida" and "Veleno" from the same band? ❤️ If you like him screaming you'll love "Veleno". Afterhours are the best. Manuel Agnelli has done a lot for the Italian Rock scene. He produced Verdena, Cristina Dona', discovered Maneskin. The guitarist is Xabier Iriondo Gemmi, he's dope, does a lot of crazy shit.
I like your videos so much!!! It's nice to me watching how italian songs can be seen by an "external" point of view. And you also help me discovering songs I didn't know before. Thanks
Great reaction Angelo! If you want to see them live, watch a concert in Milano Assago Forum in April 2018, held to celebrate their 30 years of music career. He's older, and awesome, like Vasco. They age perfectly, like good Italian wine.
I'm grateful for your reaction, finally! 🙏💛. From the same album you can listen to Ossigeno (Oxigen) even if all the tracks of it are actually pretty fantastic. 😉
If you’re liking Italian rock music I’d also suggest Baustelle. They’re an independent band, their style is ever changing, their very first album was promising. I’d suggest to begin with “Amanda Lear” and “Veronica pt. 2” which are from their last two albums. “Charlie fa surf” (Charlie surfs) and “Betty” are also a good start.
I would add also "can you scream without fucking your vocal chords?". As a singer, a melodic one, I ENVY AF people who can scream and growl, there there's A LOT of techinique and control. Anyway Ang, keep on doing your technical comments, we love them (At least I do)!
Afterhours 👍👍👍👍 try to see the performance of Manuel Agnelli (guest star) on sanremo with Danielle Silvestri and Rancore, the song( name: Argentovivo) is rap song with very dramatic lyrics and the performance of Agnelli is the best. 👌👌👌
I always love your reaction! Afterhours is my favorite band, so I literally suggest you to react to another song of the same live concert (1996) that is "Ossigeno" (Oxygen in english). Real pure ROCK! This is the direct link to the video perfomance: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-MYHrrjasUNQ.html
Try this live version ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-iR0_sLpeiUA.html . It's the concert for the 30th anniversary of Afterhours, and it's very powerful. And in the same concert is was amazing Bye Bye Bombay (I was there, and was incredible)
My favorite band in Italy. I wonder what would happen to rock music if they had more influences from bands worldwide .. collaborations and languages. I can't pay you coffee but I'd suggest to watch "Marlene Kuntz" feat "Skin" from Skunk Anansie
@@MadAng66 that's ok, you got to listen to them anyways and that's what matters. I have another suggestion for you, his name is Ligabue, check him out when you can.
BTW, we completely give a fuck about your assessment of the difficulty involved in playing the music. That's primarily what I'm here for, besides discovering new music.
I wonder, did you see Amandoti by Maneskin with Manuel Agnelli at Sanremo? I know you reacted to Amandoti by Maneskin. I guess many more have asked.Ti voglio bene.
Please Ang, react from Timoria "Sangue impazzito" and if you love the punk rock and 80th hard-core react to Bloody riot " No eroina, polizia assassina, birra,"
Try that one of Afterhours: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE--eUeb0XVDQM.html Afterhours, Bluvertigo and Subsonica....top of alternative rock! 😉

This song is about toxic love when two people annihilate each other. I've tried to do my best to make a translation as clear as possible. Here it is. INSIDE MARYLIN She is here... falseness like radioactivity. and while there is to be daring she kills the fleshly spectacle the soul burns more than it illuminates it's just a training while I'm waiting that I realize that I can breathe You are my subversive love there is no wrong or right it's a disposal natural process Maybe if it takes to hesitate I come from an error, just one Completely unsuitable to flying And even though I can see through darkness very clearly I think about the fascinating lie And I don't notice that I can breathe that you are my subversive love there is no wrong or right it's a disposal natural process She is here... she is here like radioactivity and while there is to be daring she kills the fleshly spectacle Five planets, each one in your sign Failure is a womb and I'm waiting for you while you forget that you can breathe I am your subversive love there is no wrong or right it's a disposal natural process
Hi Mad Ang, you have to listen our "Bob Dylan". He wrote alot from the best italian song lyrics: Frabrizio De Andre'. I suggest you 3 songs: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-TY68S7eJ-7M.html (Tito was the "good thief" crucified with Jesus), Piero's War ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-rmqPe4P5mkE.html (an anti-war manifesto were the metrics and rhymes are, in italian, perfect) and a song about USA History: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-QPvpE6YxA6E.html He wrote alot about the least, the defeated, the marginalized.
