The title is a play on words: in Italy the word "China" is also like an old type of black ink used mostly for comics (maybe you called "Indian ink") and not only the town we all best know. The song is all about how he finds shelter in writing pen on paper as you says. ✍️🤟
I remember the China Ink, we use to draw with it when I was in middle school but we had many colors, black, blue, purple, red, green and magenta. I loved to draw with it, we needed the special pen of course but I get the appeal for a comic artist like Capa, he is obviously a bottomless well that thrive the opportunity to express himself with images, either by drawing or writing them.
I believe the ink is called that because it came originally from China. Then somehow the word stayed written that way despite the Italian word for the country now being Cina.
I suggest you Caparezza song "abiura di me" This song uses metaphors from the world of video games on rap / rock music Also "kevin spacey" this song spoils films of the last 20 years ;)
The pun is that china (read as kii-na) means ink (specifically the one for illustrations) so "China Town" is a reference to that, he's not really talking about China
I really love your work. It is so cool to see someone who appreciates him outside Italy. He is such a unique artist and he puts an astonishing amount of effort into his songs so that you can listen to them over and over again and still find a detail you missed. I remember my dad playing his albums when I was younger and then I listened to them again as a teenager and found out so much I used not to understand. Too bad there is so much that is lost in translation. Anyway here are some of my favorite songs of him with some context about the song. "Vieni a Ballare in Puglia": which means come here in Southern Italy and dance (but it is clear by the context that dance means to die). The song is meant to expose all the issues of his beautiful and touristic region, which is, unfortunately, full of crime. The beat is inspired by traditional Apulian music, really cool. Probably one of his most notorious songs along with "Fuori dal tunnel". "Eroe" it's a song about his dad who dreamed to be a musician but worked all his life to maintain his family. And Capa wrote this song to him as his personal hero. So moving but also very political. "Argenti Vive" everybody recommended that to you already! Metal song about Dante's Inferno. Nothing more to add, listen to it. "Vengo dalla Luna" I come from the moon. It is a song about racism, and I think is one of his top 10 most famous songs. Maneskin also made a cover of it. "Il Silenzio dei colpevoli" a pun with "the silence of the lambs" which means the silence of the guily. "Non me lo posso permettere" I can't afford it. It is a song about what we think we can't do for both economical or psicological reasons. "Non siete stato voi" it's a speech about the fascist right in Italy. It's a pun that can't be translated. Basically the guilty says "it was not me", but it can be interpreted "I am not part of my country". It is such an AMAZING political song. Need a lot of context to be appreciated tho. "Un vero uomo dovrebbe lavare i piatti" a real man should wash the dishes. It's a song about toxic masculinity from his point of view (he is homosexual). So deep, but with a badass metal beat. There is so much more to add. But I think this is enough for now
I allow myself to add: "Mica Van gogh" Ironic comparison between the famous painter and the people who defines him 'crazy' "Una chiave" A dialogue between the young Caparezza and the adult one
ZANG TUMB are a reference to ZANG TUMB TUMB, a poem by futurist poet Filippo Marinetti. He was part of an artistic movement that explored highly experimental poetry, made with onomatopoeia and unusual page layouts, printing words freely on the page using different font sizes, faces and rotations. You could consider it a precursor to the modern kinetic typography video art.
Hey nice video! Can you react to "Azzera pace"? Is another Caparezza's song, the music in this song goes like *reverse* because the the meaning of the song is basically the description of himself in the moments when he goes against the mass and thinks it in an almost opposite way P.S. title in reverse is "é Caparezza"=>"This is Caparezza"
@@MadAng66 hello Mad. I perseive from your reviews a great nobility of soul. Always great and ealthy thoughts. I ask you to review this video on RU-vid. It's a masterpiese. < Elisa stupisce con Hallelujah 2017 > Sorry for my english. I'm italiano.
Hey Ang! Caparezza Is absolutely my favorite singer, i think he Is a real poet, everytime you can learn something by già lyrics! I suggest you to listen: Contronatura, Dalla parte del toro, Non siete stato voi and La mia parte intollerante! Another song very cool Is Kevin Spacey! Have a nice day 🌺❤️
All Capa songs are great. But One of my favourite is "dalla parte del toro" (on the bull's side) where bull is a metaphor of poor people exploited by the power. It's a very catchy song and full of rock vibes.
Oh yeah, one last thing. In Italian there are two words to say "ink" and those are "inchiostro" and "china" that could be confused with "China" as country in English. So he refers to "China Town" as a place where he will find inspiration because it's literally made by ink, ink that he will use to write his songs. It's... It's poetic, there's no other way to see it.
hello I'm an Italian who really likes caparezza if you like it I think you should listen "Sono fuori dal tunnel" is one of the songs that led him to success
This is one of my favourite Caparezza's songs, pure poetry really. His way of playing with words and his ability in composing reach one of the highest peaks here. 💖💖💖👏👏👏
I might be biased, but I think Caparezza is one of the most complete artists all around. I'm really happy his songs are reaching out past Italy's borders to people like you.
12:00 è un rimando al Futurismo, un movimento artistico nato in Italia agli inizi del novecento che ha anticipato tutte le corre ti d'avanguardia ( Cubismo; Astrattismo; Dadaismo...)
Michele is simply a genius for the amazing talent he has,the huge variety of genres of his music and for the very rare ability to go sincerely deep into his own feelings, expecially in this text it's more evident that ever. He's a extremely precious, curious, intelligent and at the same sensitive artist, sadly very often underrated,he deserves more. I suggest you listen to "Campione dei 90","Exuvia", "Larsen" (the latest songs) and "Goodbye Malinconia",feat. Tony Hadley (frontman of Spandau Ballet). A big kiss! 😘
You're right, writing a rap text it's not as simple as it seems you have to find the right words that follow the thought you want to express, respecting that particular style and making the message clear to the listener as well.
zang thumb and the other words are a reference of an artistic movement called futurism, louis brunel was a director member of another artistic movement the surrealism..there are a lot of cool informations of arts and music and illustrations!
Also, it's pronounced Capa - re (as in T-Rex, the E is never read as "ii") - ztsa, instead of the way you'd read it in english "capa-ri-sa" (I'm not trying to be mean I just thought you might be interested in the actual pronunciation :) )
That’s why I love Caparezza and Damiano David..the same love for music..inspiration...and it’s not so strange that Maneskin love Caparezza..great artists...thanks for your reactions to both...
Another great Caparezza's song, my Bro. in my head I have two songs to choose for you. one of these is "Malinconia" (I kwon tahat it's your favorite word) with Tony Hadley (ex Spandau Ballet).
Well yes, music is art. So he is talking about that. Also, the video shows something that he could say with words, but he leaves to immagines. And that's that many of those things we think depends from our point of view and could not correspond to reality. Caparezza have ever put so much poetry and deep meanings in his songs.
Heey Ang, Loved the video, if i can sudgest you an other really cool italian rap song go check Black Rain by Murubutu, when he sing you will feel the same respect and love that Caparezza adress to his song
very good songs to react to are Goodbye Malinconia" with Caparezza ft Tony Hadley, and "troppo tardi" Caparezza ft Micheal Franti, great tunes and with parts in English. Caparezza is a hugely talented artist, if he was born in NY or LA he would have been a rap megastar in the US..
A song of love for writing and reading and otherwise creating artwork large or small. Writing is "A prodigy that gives voice to the unspoken to those who stutter." Hypothalamus is a part of the brain.
I literally love this song. It's my favourite. I love writing stories and I feel any word of this song. When I listened it, I start to listen and like Caparezza for the reason you said: it's not just rap. I don't like rap so much, but I like his rap.
Hey Ang, why don't you and your Bipedal Primate mates make a cover of your favorite or most congenial Caparezza song, with your own English lyrics? I would love to see a video of that.
HelloAng! I requested a song from Elisa on buy me coffe but I forgot to put the link neither the title of the song,i am a total messed up when i get excited😅 LUCE live performance from Sanremo 2007. MERRY CHRISTMAS TO YOU AND YOUR LOVE ONES!😘 I ♥️CAPAREZZA!
For your journey in Italian music, you should definitely retrieve Gino paoli's discography with songs such as "il cielo in una stanza", "senza fine" and "che cosa c'è".
This is one of my very favourites from Caparezza, who's one of my very favourite artist. His lyrics are always a little tricky, I speak fluent Italian but I still struggle every now and then to get the full meaning of every phrase. And he is so amazing live, too ❤this song live gives pure goosebumps!
BRAVO MED HAI CAPITO. CAPAREZZA AMA LA SUA MUSICA DEDICA L' ANIMA HAI SUOI TESTI, E PENSARE CHE E' MANCATO POCO A LASCIARE TUTTO PER UN PROBLEMA A UN ORECCHIO E IN UNA INTERVISTA HA DETTO CHE SI SENTIVA IN PRIGIONE E RIUSCITO AD ALZARZISI E HA FATTO QUELLA BELLA CANZONE CHE TU HAI REAGITO. PRISONER 709
Next Mezzosangue please, he's a dark, deep rapper with much quality especially in his lyrics, also the messages are deep and worth, you should check it out! Don't have a favourite song because I think ALL of them are awesome, even if some are quite "heavy". Probably in the future he will be studied into poetry books in Italians schools. Thanks for all your entertaining and reactions👍👍👍 Peace from a young Italian based in London 🤞
