Another great reaction, thanks! This is what they are known for: mind-blowing live performances, great music, vocals and choreo. They also perform in smaller venues with "standard" stages when touring worldwide and their show is still astonishing. They originated in 2010 around Su-metal (Suzuka Nakamoto) and her abilities performing live, specially her surprisingly powerful vocals and no-holding back attitude. Their genre is called kawaii (cute) metal, a subgenre they invented. All the concept was the crazy idea of their producer, Key Kobayashi who saw a very young Nakamoto perform with her former girl group and thought she was perfect to front a metal band. Then he added two smaller girls for the twin factor. If you ask me, it was an insane bet. But it worked. Yes, their outfits are very cool. We usually call them costumes since they actually playing a character. They have evolved over the years (remember they started being 12 and 11 years old). The thing is that the costumes have always fit their age and have been totally respectful with the ladies. We can't say the same about some other groups out there... This is a very important point to me. I think you'll like to see what they were like ten years ago: "Ijime, Dame, Zettai" (Live at Sonisphere 2014): ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Ro-_cbfdrYE.html Until next time! 🤘🦊

Great reaction! Answering some of your questions: *Language:* They jump between Japanese and English. *Singers:* Lead is Su-metal, backing vocals/dance is Moametal. 3rd member Momometal (no mic/backup dancer) was made official at end of this show. Next day’s show, she has a mic too. *Band:* Kami Band West (Americans) at this show. Originally, Kami Band East (Japanese) supported Babymetal since 2012, fully since 2014. Kami west added in 2019, became sole backing band starting this specific show and onwards (Apr 2023). *Kami West Members:* From left to right Chris Kelly - Guitar Clint Tustin - Bass Anthony Barone - Drums CJ Masciantonio - Guitar Anthony was ex-Shadow of Intent, other 3 were/are members of the band “Galactic Empire”. Ryan Neff filled in for Clint briefly during 2023’s tour. *Venue:* Pia Arena MM, Japan, Apr 2023 - 2 day show - “Babymetal Begins - The Other One”. ~10K capacity one of the smaller arenas. Their Japanese Arena Shows are normally ~20K+ *Style/Genre:* Kawaii (cute) Metal (“Hawaii” with a “K”). Pioneered by Babymetal, fusing J-Pop idol vocals and choreography with heavy metal music. Early on (started 2010, age 12/11) the “Kawaii” was a more childlike adorableness. Today, it’s more of a cool/bad a** vibe as they grew into young ladies (mid-20s now). I suggest checking out their earlier content as well: *Road of Resistance (Official Live):* Jan 2015, staple show closer for a decade, an epic power metal battle anthem. Must see!! Sorry for long read, hope it was helpful! 😆🤘🦊

I was really pleased to see your second reaction to Babymetal pop up. You've got 110 comments at the point I'm writing so I know your having all your questions answered. That said I'll try to maybe fill a couple of little nitches. Babymetal due have three singers. Though on this night for reasons I'm betting one of the heavy hitters will already have explained-there are only two. This was night one of a two night series and on the second night there are three singers. It's complicated but as you've probably already gathered. Babymetal comes with a complex lore and history. Babymetal's costumes are always designed by top tier designers. For me there's only been one miss in all their years. As far as I can tell Babymetal have new costumes to go along with new tours and special events. Night two of this series are brilliant and were designed by a Masaki Noguchi. Babymetal did give birth to their own genre of metal. It is Kawaii or idol/cute metal. Right along though they have been fearless in representing different cultures and styles in their music. However no matter how genre bending the song it will always still sound Babymetal.🦊🦊🦊

Welcome back to BabyMetal's metalverse 🦊🤘🌐 This song belongs to latest album The Other One but it wasn't part of the 5 singles released, although it becomes one of fans favorite from this album real fast. The nasty riffs reminds to "Ice Nine Kills - Rainy Day". Maya in Hindu myth is the representation of illusion (which is the theme in this song), so that's the reference. Here's some official info: MAYA (ILLUSION) _Reality is an illusion. The truth may be a deception._ _It is a feeling as if you wandered in between the Real World and the Virtual World. It may be magic, or it may be an illusion._ The Western Kami Band playing this live at PIA Arena MM (April 1st) gives some aggressive flavor that i really like (all of them are male) and with MomoMetal now officially as a new member, just so you know this was performed during Black Night (that's why they're wearing the old battle dress from Metal Galaxy era and she ain't got a mic), at the end of this night she was announced as MomoMetal, the night after this (Clear Night) they're wearing the new costume you can see at Mirror Mirror, METALIZM official MV and more recently Divine Attack - Shingeki live version. The Kami Band aren't official member and they got hidden identities just like the Japanese/East Kami Band, they're representing spiritual entities and were send by the Fox God to help the girls with the metal sound inside the lore, the front women are the girls, although fans know who are the members of the band of course, in this case: Chris Kelly and CJ Masciantonio on guitars, Clint Tustin on bass and Anthony Barone on drums. Except for the drummer all of them comes from another band called Galactic Empire and they also wear masks and dressed in Star Wars costumes. They've been rotating this song along with Mirror Mirror and Believing during The World Tour 2023/2024. Like I said in your previous reaction, the genre they created is called "kawaii metal" which is a mix of Jpop and heavy metal elements along with many more subgenres, you barely find a song alike to another. They also dance in almost every song and you won't find a group like them around. Their energy is over the top in every live show. You'll find many fans in the comments who went there to witness this moment and many more unique shows. See you next time 🦊🤘🎸

Thanks for the reaction... Babymetal is known for their epic live performances and crowd intertaction (it's a full on spectal of a show as much as a concert) along with bringing their joyous and innovative take on metal music - mixing with a range of other genres. The have a deep and diverse catalogue and aren't afraid to try new things, so every song and performance is unique - if you don't vibe with one song, try something else as there's something for all tastes. You might enjoy checking out one of their recent hit performances (e.g. Monochrome at PIA arena), one of thier newest songs (Metali - either the official music video or a recent live show), one of their recent live collabs (e.g. Kingslayer live with Bring Me The Horizon), or a classic from when they were younger such as Megitsune, Karate, or for a real throwback to their kawaii origins - Doki Doki Morning. Have fun - the Babymetal discovery journey is a blast! 🤘🦊

Some answers to your questions: - The band that plays live with Babymetal is called the Kami Band (God/Spirit Band). They are professional session musicians hand picked by Babymetal's producer Kobametal. Because the lineup of the Kami Band is not fixed, and varies depending on who is available, they wear the masks is disguise who it is. It also serves to keep the focus on the girls because only they are Babymetal, the band is not considered to be part of Babymetal, they are just a live performance backing band. There are actually two Kami Bands, one made up of Japanese musicians that is known as the Kami Band of the East, and another group of American musicians who are the Kami Band of the West. The lineup for this particular show was the Kami Band of the West and the musicians were: Chris Kelly on guitairs, CJ Masciantonio on guitars, Clint Tustin on bass, and Anthony Barone on drums. - Su-metal is the lead vocalist and she does about 80% of the vocals. Moametal and Momometal have headset mics and they do backing vocals in parts of many of the songs. In Japan, it's considered disrespectful to the artist and to other audience members for the audience to sing along, so the songs are deliberately written with parts for the audience to participate in, and Moametal and Momometal's job is to lead the audience in their part of the songs, sort of like cheerleaders. This video is a little confusing because this was filmed at the show where Momometal officially joined the group, having previously been a support dancer for several years, so she doesn't have a mic in this video, but from the next night onwards (Clear Night) she did have a mic. Officially, all three are vocalists, but Su-metal is the lead singer. - Babymetal have gone through many costumes over the years. They generally change costumes for each new album or major tour that they do. The outfits in this video are actually the previous generation outfits from 10 Babymetal Budokan. They changed to the new design the next night at Clear Night. - The question of what Babymetal is is one that has been the subject of debate for their entire 14 year history. There has been much debate about whether Babymetal is a band, or an idol group, or something else. For their part, Babymetal refer to themselves as a "metal dance unit", but really they don't fit neatly into any category, they simply are Babymetal and there is no-one else like them. They call the blending of metal and J-pop that they do "kawaii metal" (cute metal), as it combines elements of J-pop vocals, dance, costumes and aesthetics with metal instrumentation. When asked what genre they are, they used to say "kawaii metal", but they don't really use that term anymore, as their music and performance has evolved and matured away from that, and they tend to just say that they are Babymetal these days. There are other groups that do the same sort of thing, though none are as famous as Babymetal, and the genericized term for groups that combine J-pop with metal is "idol metal". Some other groups that fall under that same umbrella are: PassCode, Broken By The Scream, Desurabbits. - Japanese artists like to intersperse bits of English into their songs, and they will freely switch back and forth between English and Japanese during songs. In this case, they are indeed saying "Say my name". - It doesn't show it in this video, but the central platform they were standing on had hydraulics under it so that it could lift up during the show. If you watch the song Monochrome from the same show, you will see the platform in the elevated position. - Babymetal was the brainchild of their producer Kobametal (Key Kobayashi) who came up with the idea because he was worried that the metal audience in Japan was getting too old and he wanted to revitalize interest in metal in young people, so he came up with the idea of creating a hybrid of metal and J-pop to make metal accessible to more mainstream audiences. Babymetal started as a crackpot experimental side project of the idol group Sakura Gakuin, that Koba was part of the production team for. It was never expected to become the international success that it has or last as long as it has.

Around 2010, Koba-metal, who was a metal fan and producer at Amuse, thought the genre had grown stale with only old, fat, hairy dudes. He wanted to broaden the appeal and created this genre of Kawaii Metal. It has been wildly successful and other, new bands have incorporated elements of it. One reason the metal scene in Japan has become so diverse.

I'm sure you'll get wiki pages in the comments to fill you in, but just to answer a couple of your questions. BM is the three girls, the band is called the Kami band, consisting of session musicians, either from Japan or more recently from the US (East and the West Kami's). 14 years ago, they created their own genre of music called Kawaii Metal (cute metal) , which is basically j-pop over every style of metal. Su, is the main singer, while Moa, Momo (in this vid) are the backup singers/dancers although they can sing very well as well. They mostly sing in Japanese but also have English mixed in, even have some songs entirely in English. Next up I suggest Road of Resistance either the earlier version or the more recent version are worth checking out (personally I suggest the earlier one) Road of Resistance - Live in Japan (OFFICIAL) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-zTEYUFgLveY.html Road Of Resistance (PIA Arena 2023 Live) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-XpGRYhY897E.html

You could say BABYMETAL is its own genre.. birthed from the mixture of metal and j-pop style dancing/singing. It also coined the phrase kawaii metal meaning cute metal. But BABYMETAL also love messing about mixing their sound with random genres for fun.. so you'll see progressive metal songs.. folk metal songs.. black metal songs.. even random hip hop or reggae elements in some of their songs. There's a huge variety to their sound and it keeps them fresh! \m/🦊\m/ The name itself "BABYMETAL" is a play on words, as in Japanese it sounds very similar to "Heavy Metal" (and looks very close written: ベビーメタル vs ヘビーメタル) The lyrics are usually in a mixture of Japanese and English.. but some songs are all Japanese.. and some songs have "English versions" The backing band has always been male (with a few rare exceptions) - BABYMETAL live is always better to go for than a studio recording.. they really bring the fire and come alive for live performances. If you see a backing band dressed in skeleton suits from their very early live performances, then that's from before they had a live band and they're just miming along. But then they got a live backing band.. and they are all virtuoso musicians. The backing band in this video is their secondary backing band from the US called "kamis of the west".. their principle band is from Japan and just called the "kami band" (meaning god band) If you want to see more of the musicianship try: Rondo of Nightmare, with the Mischief of the Metal Gods intro: aUaZn92G8uU

Nice reaction and greetings from Germany! I would say, that we could say "Welcome to the Fox hole" finally. You´re in it for sure 🤣 You had a LOT of questions this time, which is quite normal. BABYMETAL though is not the "normal" type of band/group/unit. I try to address all of your questions: The band, called "Kami Band" ("Kami" meaning something in the line of "spirit"), is always a group of session musicians, actually consisting of 4 guys from the United States, and they are some of the best musicians you can get for that job. They are always masked. The same goes for the Kami Band you might see if you watch more ancient live videos of BM, when the musicians wear face paint and white robes. These are Japanese, all guys, too. And also some of the best musicians you´ll find on the planet. Our Queen and her Princesses (the ladies 😁) do sing, indeed. But most of the time you will hear the wonderful, magical, extremely powerful voice of Su-Metal (Suzuka Nakamoto). She is incredible! If you like to hear Moametal (Moa Kikuchi, in this video the one wearing a microphone) or Momometal (Momoko Okazaki, the one without a microphone in this video) you should try "Moabanger" and "Momobanger". You´ll be blown away by them, too, I promise! They all are great singers in their own right. But there´s a reason why we call Su-Metal "our Queen" 😉. What BABYMETAL does is indeed a fusion of, what most people would call "Pop", and Metal. They fuse Pop hooks,/catchyness and (sometimes) extremely powerful metal, rounded up by a choreography that supports the understanding of the lyrics, which are mostly in Japanese. They do Englisch lyrics, too, but to a lesser extend. In fact, they include even Indian and Thai lyrics (for the time being, there might be other languages in the future. OTFGK)😄 It could be called an own style, indeed. They invented it 😉It´s called "Kawaii Metal" ("Kawaii" meaning something in the line of "Cute", but it´s a bit more complex). Very fitting name for what they do, IMHO. The crowd you witnessed here is mostly Japanese people (but you can bet that there are lots of Westerners/people from other countries in Asia in this crowd, too!) and the concert was held at the PIA Arena MM in Yokohama, Japan. The Japanese crowds are legendary!! Greatest audience an artist could wish for. Their costumes: outstanding, aren´t they? You´ll love the current costumes, too! BM stages at the shows in Japan are mindblowing, every single time. Their production is totally insane! What they are going for? Draw more people into metal, even those who are not into metal at all. You´ll see how they try to achieve that, just go down the Fox hole and watch more of their work. They have A LOT to offer and you´ll be surprised every time! Expect the unexpected 😉

The genre is kawaii metal, created by them back in 2010. I'd say they do all genres, but make them "kawaii metal". This song in particular sounds very metalcore... but at the same time, it doesn't. That's what babymetal does.

Great reaction - I struggled with this one as I wasn't mad on the very start with the (American) english "you've got the power" , and the somewhat (to me) cringe speech (which I usually skip) - but I still love the rest of the song. Do carry on - they've quite the catalogue now after 13/14 years and virtually all of it is beautifully crafted and performed with their own unique genre. I LOVED these outfits - personally my favourite so far - the new ones are very striking, but maybe a touch too plasticy and pop for me (they reflect wonderfully at times however - with Metalism at PIA they looked awesome). If you look at the earlier stuff you'll see the band without masks (I definitely prefered it tbh) with what at least feels like more interaction (hard to do that behind a mask....), but they're always top notch musicians.

There is a new guide out there if you wanted to get a crash course in their history, just look for "The not so extensive guide to Babymetal". My recommendation would be Road of Resistance at this same PIA arena concert. There is a version with english subs and the song is sort of the anthem for the group, while also being a banger.

Great reaction again - and well done picking a live performance this time, that is where they are always at their best.🦊🤘At the risk of repeating info I gave on your first reaction and quite possibly things you have already been told in the comments below ... BABYMETAL are Japanese and they sing predominantly in Japanese, but as you heard with the "Say my name", they will throw in English words and phrases here and there. The target audience - everybody and anybody. Go to a BABYMETAL concert and you will find yourself rubbing shoulders with metalheads, JPop fans, parents with daughters dressed up as BABYMETAL, teenagers, bearded rockers, people from all backgrounds and nationalities and ages from teenagers to people in their 60s and 70s and everything in between ... and they will all be having the best time of their life! They are both original and unique, they do their own thing and there is no other band quite like them. They started in 2010 as a sub-unit of a school themed JPop Idol group (they were aged 12 and 11 at the time) and created their own metal sub-genre mixing Metal with JPop hooks, melodies and aesthetics. That has evolved over the last 13+ years to include many other musical styles and genres mixed in with the metal. They have many influences and they pay homage to many great bands that came before them - as you go on you may spot references to X Japan, Metallica and others. BABYMETAL are Su-metal (lead vocalist and the whole concept was formed and developed around her vocal talents and stage presence - she is exceptionally talented), Moametal and Momometal (in charge of backing vocals, harmonies and mainly hyping and involving the crowd with their choreo). The original third member was Yuimetal, she left the band in 2018 for health reasons, Momometal became the third member at the end of this specific concert in April last year ... she got her mic for the next night, up until this time she had been performing just as a dancer since 2019. The backing vocals are the parts the crowd will sing along with and they are a huge part of what sets BABYMETAL apart from other bands. They are supported in live shows by the Kami Band (all male - but they did have a female violinist for a brief period very early on). Early on they had no budget and couldn't afford a live band, but in October 2012 the Kami Band made their first appearance and over the next year and a half they played at a couple of festivals and the encores in some shows. They became the full time support for all live shows in March 2014. The Kami Band (East) are the very best Japanese session musicians, so although they will swap out depending on their availability, the same hard core of about 6 musicians played the vast majority of concerts up to January 2023. In 2019 the Kami Band (West) was introduced to support BABYMETAL on their lengthier foreign tours. They are American musicians and there have been just 5 of them (the bassist swapped out for the US leg of the 2023 tour and he has swapped out again for the most recent concerts). They were the support for all of the nearly 100 concerts from April (again starting with this particular concert) on last year's tour and they have been there again for the most recent concerts in the US. I'm sure you already have and will get some great suggestions for more songs. Some are straight metal, some lean towards their pop roots and they do everything in between. All you can be sure of is that they will surprise you every time, you will not be able to predict what you will see or hear from them next. Expect top quality musicianship and vocals, watch the choreo as it will help with interpreting the meaning of the songs and it will give you your cues (along with the audience) when to jump, pump your fist or join in, expect a lot of energy ... and when it comes to the songs themselves expect the unexpected.

There are 3 singers since their debut in 2010. In 2018, one of the original trio left the group, so from 2018 to 2023 they were a duo and had 3 backup dancers who took her place. In 2023, the day after the concert of the video, Momoko (the one without a mic) was confirmed as the new member and now they're a trio again.

To answer your question... There are one riff bands, one subgenre bands, bands that put out albums where each album has a slightly different taste, and there is BABYMETAL, where each song comes from a different heavy metal subgenre. And yes, they are mixing it up like no one else. EDM + hiphop + death doom metal + lullaby... and that is only one song, Iine. They sing mostly in Japanese and English, sometimes Spanish, Indian, and most recently Thai. Their first song was Doki Doki Morning, their latest is Leave It All Behind - this would be a fine choice for a reaction video, the official video on F.HERO's channel has lyrics in CC. Finally, I love how you pay attention to little details. Please keep doing so.

Well if i kmow one zitle zhat doesn't connect with Kawai.Well they have their öead vocalist and two Scream and Dance Oeoplr, in fact they dance, background voices and crowd control are their main business but the advancez. No zhey are hapanesese but when thhey became big in the US and Europe english became important for them. So in fact the Kami Band West were originally only used for Concerts in the US and Europe to give the Kami Band a breather, but now they practically are the Kami Band of Babymetal. But the Jami Vabd West uses US Musicians. While zhe original Kami Band was jaoanese abd older. And I think both of these points clashed with their famous name While they were bever marketed as their orotection I think an important Element for them was the protection for the girls. But at that time the girls were more like children but if you zry to argue against the undisputed Stage director you can't complain that they don't call you anymore if they have competitors that respect her.

Yes and no. The Kami Band was omportant and in the beginning it was an advantage to recognize them . They used a white corpse pait and white robes. But after their first guitarist died (Stargazing from Budocan) they had some fluctuations and they were forced to black robes and masks like their US counterparts. And when they added a few remarks after Corona in Sus Direction They were no longer reall, suitable. An attack against Kobametal perhabs but an attack against Su while she seems to be prepared for a pisition of general director... that was pretty much unacceptable.

I find it hard to believe that you can get a "valid" impression of a BABYMETAL song by listening to it just one time. I find it even harder to believe that you´ll show a "valid" reaction if you just let it go, listen and watch and afterwards just say something about the fraction of the song and show you are able to remember after your mind was blown big time. As it is the case for most reactors who do BABYMETAL the first time or the first time with a live performance. I prefer the reactors showing genuine interest in the wonderful, magic "absurdity" they witness while they are watching a BABYMETAL live performance. It´s like we were in the same room while the reaction happened.

@@Amiekinz4ever Of course I want to see someone “reacting” to the song... if I want to listen “Maya” I just put the song on and listen to it. And of course I want a certain level of reaction, but mainly on a musical/sensation level, not about things that have nothing to do with the song itself. I'll try to explain myself better; personally I was waiting for this video because the other day I loved your reaction to “Divine Attack”. In that reaction you paused the song in 3 occasions... a 4 minutes song is paused in 3 occasions, it's something to be expected, logical, assumable. In your pauses, in logical moments of the song where the rhythm is not particularly cut off, you were commenting on the song itself. That is, it gave the impression of a logical listening with real comments. But in this reaction, you pause the song up to 13 times... 13 times, and it is also a song of about 4 minutes. In fact, from the beginning of the song to the moment when Sumetal starts to sing, in the first 30 seconds of the song, you pause 4 times... Personally, I think you have to appreciate the song, the rhythm, the flow, the changes, the subtleties in the bass, in the melody, etc... I can't believe that a person can appreciate that if every 15 seconds is stopping the song at the worst moment just to ask if the drummer is a man or a woman... And for that reason, I think this reaction is not so “authentic” and I don't value it in the same way... I personally don't like it, I'm sorry, I prefer a person who listens to the whole song and then gives his impressions, and if he prefers to pause some times (for understanding the reactions, or even for copyright issues) then perfect... but logical, measured and understandable pauses, not pauses every 15 seconds after not having heard hardly anything, and without being able to have a minimum notion of how the song is developing, which, remember, is the first time you hear in your life (which makes it much more difficult to appreciate everything, which is logical). If you really want to know if the drummer is a man, or if the other girls sing or just dance, I think those are things that can be discussed after finishing the song... but stopping the flow of the song for those questions... I'm sorry but it's not my thing. But, if people like it, and/or it is your way of reacting, that seems perfect to me, I apologize if my feedback has bothered you and you found it annoying, and I simply say goodbye so as not to bother anyone anymore.
