We should be grateful to had such experience and seeing how this enormous monster of streaming and exchanging information was born and developing on our eyes. The fan club guy asked Lars to play his demo CD before Metallica went on, right after the Strokes, and he did! Lars called the stage guy over and they did it. That's some love for fans right there, you rule Lars.

I was hanging on every thing James was saying. To me his just such a wonderful human being. So quirky and the cheekiness which brings that trademark laugh and then the mega smile is what makes me adore him. I'd love to spend a week on tour with Metallica. Be real cool to just sit down and interview James especially and be right there to see his awesome smile. His so unreal 💙💪

All of Metallica's albums are great and amazing work. They have always made great music and if they write more they will do great on those songs just as well, no rock band could ever be better than Metallica, they are the BEST rock band I've ever heard of in my entire life. If I had to chose between meeting Metallica or Avenged Sevenfold... I'd prefer to meet Metallica any day!!!
The reason that Metallica is still around isnt because of cum load 1 and 2 , monster and anger albums etc...its because of the first 4 albums and that particular fan base. They could retire today and never make another album and still sellout arenas. Most fans today know them for their albums of the 90's. I was fortunate to see them at their peak 89 91 and 92. They were completely different live...and the fans today will never know that experience. When you go to a Metallica concert today you dont hear fans screaming for songs off the 90's or 2000's albums. Its the first 4.
Am I the only one who thinks St. Anger is a great album? It's nowhere near Metallica's original work but it is good. Same with Load and ReLoad. Different, yet great.
Pontus Bergkvist so if you don't like one album of a band you're not a fan? and saying someone's not a metalhead because of disliking (re)load or st anger is just ridiculous... I love metallica but those three albums are just not my cup of tea
Pontus Bergkvist I like St. Anger, but the songs could be several minutes shorter (the long parts are just repeats of what's already been played,) and Lars' snare sound drives me nuts.
These guys tour and rock the hardest!! Averaging over 2h per concert, long songs and such intense playing! Just Master of Puppets can rip your hand off. Legends..
Its sad that the big boys don't come to poor countries like mine. Many of us grew up listening to them and idolizing them but the chance of me clicking a picture with James Hetfield is the same as going to the moon. Sad for me!

Looks tiring. The fans are great and the appreciation is cool, but that's a lot of fucking work. Think about it for a second. You do what you do, but whenever you're not doing it, you're mobbed by people telling you how good you are and it's the best thing to ever happen in their lives that they met you. Times that by every day for the rest of your life. Don't tell me that's not hard. But for reals, they're fucking awesome.
And if Hetfield is not a dick, then there must be a slight feeling of guilt that he cannot match the fan's enthusiasm. For that fan, it's probably the only time he'll ever get to meet Hetfield, but for Hetfield, he meets fans like that every time he does a show, and is most probably over it.
Those fans are so starstruck that it's embarrassing to watch. I kinda felt sorry for James, but he handled it like a pro. He probably puts up with this regularly. If I were to meet such a legend I'd have questions to ask, I'd want to know stuff, not just tell him he's awesome like 100x.
I asked him about that very thing, he said he's been through it so much that he's a little bit on autopilot in terms of not noticing the over-excitement/worship.
Say what you will about Lars and believe me he gets on my fuckin nerves too but what he did for that fan was really cool. And how he interacted with everyone gave me a new perspective on the guy. Pretty dope. Still a little shit, but dope.
hahaha, i was never a big fan of Lars but this video shows he's actually a decent guy even if he is just fucking around. Pretty funny guy and if that was true that they actually played that guys demo before they went on, that's fucking awesome of him to do.

People like to rag on lars for being a shit drummer but its pretty obvious why he's in the place he's in. He's witty, good listener, has a way of making everybody he meets feel at ease and is overall a charming guy. Now i'm not saying that thats what he's like 100% of the time but he certainly knows when to behave like that. i'm sure he's convinced alot of important people to give metallica's music a chance at the beginning of their career just with those traits alone.
@Joel WW Feel bad for the rest of that band, to be honest. They had a pretty decent career going, good following etc. Imagine waking up one morning to the news that your singer, the guy you'd known for years and years, was trying to have sex with a one year old child. Talk about a shitty feeling. Not only is your band done there and then, but you're forever tainted by the very association with him. The rest of them have since gone on to form a new band called No Devotion, but they'll always carry the baggage of being former associates of sicko Ian Watkins. Nothing can ever be the same for them. Pity.
Hetfield is such a cool dude all the way around, and...well, he's just HOT, young or old, long hair or short, HOT and genuine. I want a carbon copy for just me. :)
metallica is actually alive. very alive. finished playing huge festivals, going to play 7 shows in mexico, two in edmonton, two in vancouver, going to make a 3D movie and a new album.
