I feel you ... listening this at my Walkman sony and a maxel cassete at highscool... now 42 with 5 kids ... still listening at you tube... how easy is now with a click... at our age, a friend who bought the original cassete, we all the rest copied at the double cassette player... or wait to hear to the radio metal station to record it... God, how fast time flies...😪
That riff and so many variations of it were hijacked and brought into the 90s hard-core and thrash scenes over and over and over again. Such a brutal riff, couldn't have picked a better one🤘
Sometimes I still struggle to realize this is only their 2nd studio album. This song sounds like they've been playing together for decades, so powerful! Too bad the mixing was so thin back in the day, it really needs more punchy bass and thickness to do the music "Justice" (see what I did there?). R.I.P. Cliff, some of us still miss you.
I know right, the jump of quality is just so big, Kirk's solos are less of a jumble of notes, James' singing and playing matured, Lars changed up with the drum patterns more, and Cliff made fire basslines And that ICY guitar tone, echoey drums, sweet overdriven bass, absolutely beautiful album
That raw raunchy garage sound is what made their first four albums sound so good! After Justice everything sounds to clean clear and crisp, Distortion is what is what makes metal heavy. I to miss Cliff everyday he's the reason I play bass
Metal is Satanic if only in comparison of relative philosophy it just isn't necessarily theistically Satanic but a lot of it is even then. Metal primarily idolizes and worships strength both mental and physical as does Satanism. Instead of arguing that metal isn't Satanic you'd do much better to make sure the persons claiming it's somehow a negative thing knows what Satanism actually is.

I love that Metallica made a story about what happened in the bible and I'm religous so my favorite band which is Metallica made a song of a story in the holy bible just makes me so happy.
They don't like Christianity. James mom was a crazy Christian who would not go to the doctors for her cancer, she thought God would save her. But he didn't. Shows how much you know about the band.
Not saying you're wrong but I never heard that Kirk wrote all of these riffs just one. He wrote the "die by my hand" riff when he was in Exodus which I think they were planning to use in a song called "Impaler" if memory serves but don't quote me on it. Exodus actually didn't manage to release "Impaler" until 2003 on Tempo Of The Damned.
Powerful song!!! Thank you Metallica!!! RIP Cliff Burton. I am grateful, humbled and blessed to have met all of you before Cliff went home. Yaz too. RIP 🙏💛🙌
@@luke8558 oh jeezz girls , girls, girls... You're both pretty ok Please be quiet Listen...... if you need to start a topic like this song is about a bible story and then you're debating the difference between A bible story vs THIS bible story hence, you need to actually be reminded that this is about a bible story.... YOU DON'T KNOW ENOUGH ABOUT METALLICA simple as that what are you gonna say next... ONE is about a guy who stepped on landmine while he went off to war HAHA Please stop this stupidity and pick another topic ok LET ME GET YOU GUYS STARTED OK how about this is a fucking awesome song or This has an awesome solo or Metallica is a fucking awesome band how about something like that, ok start there, see what you 2 come up with
One of my favorite Metallica songs! I've always wondered why they let Pharaoh live at the end... the Bible clearly states he died along with his men... I watch the Walt Disney animated movie about this same instance and they let Pharaoh live also...
I went into the largest of the Pharaohs pyramids , Khufu's pyramid when I was stationed overseas in the military 1989 med cruise. This is what I listened over and over on repeat. My mind's eye was this video except with Charlton Heston in the 10 commandments film footage running over and over in my head. Never thought I'd see the same thing come to pass thank you sir it's been a blessing I👍👍👍😁😁😁
It is and it isn't. The song was written based on The Ten Commandments which is a movie based on the biblical story of Moses starring Charelton Heston. So it is based on a bible story in the second degree but you still run into whatever issues come from the interpretation from story to film. I'm not enough of an expert in either to be able to point them out. Even then the Moses story is technically from the Torah so it's a Jewish story before it's a bible story but the specific basis here is the biblical account. If you're looking for Metallicas commentary on religion as a whole they didn't comment on it as often as other thrash bands but when they did it was always negative. James history with it isn't pleasant. He came from a Christian science family and watched his mother die slowly of cancer refusing treatment because of their religion. Christian scientists essentially believe all healing should be Godly intervention.
@@martinkuliza I said I'm not enough of an expert on the film The Ten Commandments or the Mosea story to be able to list the differences. Meaning my lack of expertise extends to those differences only. English much?
@@martinkuliza You were mucking with me. Seems legit. Listen next time you say some stupid shit and someone points it out instead of acting like you weren't serious like a pussy just have some humility and come out ahead of the curve instead of looking like a stupid fuck that can't admit they made themselves look ridiculous.
@@martinkuliza Martin Kuliza Yeah so "seems legit" is a sarcastic way of saying you're obviously fucking lying you idiot. You have sarcasm wherever you're from where they don't have subject nouns right? It's well known to everyone but you go look it up. You need humility because you weren't "mucking around" you're just trying to save face. You literally replied three times each time trying to claim to have been casually joking. Three replies is beyond casual you dumb fuck and noone would ever buy it.

Almost December, 2023 and this is still one of the top 4 or 5 best hard rock songs ever put out!!!! Def one of the top 5 best Metallica songs ever produced. It's rite there with (in no special order) one, master of puppets, ride the lightning, enter sandman with a close runner up being whiskey in the jar !!!!! Tell me I'm wrong!!!!

The song is about the book of exodus. The liberation of hebrew slaves after 466 years of slavery. .the plaques on egypt. Moses and the freeing of hebrew slaves from egypt
☀🌍 'this happened to me, but I proceeded to it ten times, reason?.. 'I was working on the internet, and I found out the best thing to be synchronised, yeah man,.. 🐎
Speaking of Cliff I read somewhere that they guys were watching the ten commandments movie and when it got to the part where the green mist is moving through Egypt he said wow that looks like creeping death and that was where the inspiration for this song came from, pretty cool.
Since day one! I as at the Dynamo Festival in Dutch (Holland) - it was one of Cliff's last shows. We were devastated when we heard that he passed away. Metallica was _my_ band nothing came even close IMHO. But when the Load CD came out I almost collapsed - man, I felt betrayed... (They never had like an Image-designer - and now they cut their hair, Kirk had make up, colored fingernails
@@evilernie6908 I turn 52 in 5 weeks and I know absolutely what U felt about the load shit! Brainwashed by the FBI, MK-ultra or something?! Someone took them away from me. Even worse, someone dared to turn them into wimps! Back then I had arguments on the street with everyone who wore a load shirt but couldn't name 3 songs except "Nothing Else...", "Enter Sandman" or "One"! Believe me I ask every single one of them.^^ You were not alone with your honest disappointment, mate. I have flashbacks right now! hahahaa! Never stopped banging the old shit, tho. And St.Anger was such a relief!!! U're right: WE deserved that piece! Cliff Burton remains unforgotten. Metal up your ass! 🤘🍻
I think i am the first man who cryes when is listening heavy metal,is so good back to listen and to sing this music again after all the heavy things i lived....
Exodus 2:23-25 Now after a long time the king of Egypt died. And the children of Israel groaning, cried out because of the works: and their cry went up unto God from the works. And he heard their groaning: and remembered the covenant which he made with Abraham, Issac and Jacob. And the Lord looked upon the children of Israel: and he knew them.
@@jozzyalthefool9273when kirk wrote that die die by my hand riff he was only sixteen and was in a band exodus And the chapter in which this story took place is also titled exodus in Bible
1 Samuel 2:6-9 “The LORD puts to death and gives life, casts down to Sheol and brings up again. The LORD makes poor and makes rich, humbles, and also exalts. He raises the needy from the dust; from the ash heap lifts up the poor, To seat them with nobles and make a glorious throne their heritage. “For the pillars of the earth are the LORD’s, and he has set the world upon them. He guards the footsteps of his faithful ones, but the wicked shall perish in the darkness; for not by strength does one prevail.
