Should have heard it live when he was with suicidal tendencies opening up for metallica back in 94. Great show, who knew that the bass player for suxidal would be playing for metallica, also saw jerry cantrell leave the venue early so did not get to see alice in chains. But still great. And Danzig. @Colt2OO2
@Colt2OO2 2 года назад
It's a solo, you can't expect him to nail it note for note every time, I hate people who give them shit because they don't play everything the same way they used to in 1985. You're bound to make mistakes even with songs you've been playing for almost 40 years and solos can also be improvised a lot as well in case you do screw something up and it's his solo, so he gets to play it however he wants to as well.
@martsum398
@martsum398 2 года назад
He's not talking about mistakes, he's talking about changing the solo entirely as Kirk is known to do, especially the fade to black ending solo... just a WAHHHH fest. People like to hear great solos live, not just improv wahhhing
@Colt2OO2
@Colt2OO2 2 года назад
@@martsum398 That's the people who expect everything to always be played exactly how it was recorded though. Bands change how they play stuff and that includes the individual members too, so that doesn't really matter to me.
@lapinus
@lapinus 2 года назад
but the most important thing IMO is that he really practiced and rested during the lockdowns, which really helped him to get back on his feet. He's not sloppy like he was in the hardwired tour, and you can just tell that he practiced. Like bob rock said, you know if a guitarist didn't do their homework. And he did.
@matthewbretonpiette1588
@matthewbretonpiette1588 2 года назад
@@Colt2OO2 the thing is tho, ive listened to many live performances ranging many years and recently Kirk has just been playing the solos poorly, like he was trying to play the original version or implement more wah pedal and it just sounded terrible (including guitar tone). Except for now, I just watched 2 live performances from 2021, including this one and I'm blown away that Kirk sounds like he can actually solo. I’ve been a stage manager for a few decades now. One thing I’ve noticed is people who trash Lars and say his drumming is simple and easy, you will never hear or see those people play drums themselves. Then you have people like Mike Portnoy who praises Lars as a great drummer with his own style. Go figure.

This may just be one of their GREATEST live performances of this song EVER!!! And I’ve watched dozens of performances of it. Everything about it is perfect. Timing, tightness, clarity of their playing, Kirk’s solo, James’ vocals, even Robs backing vocals...perfect. This is the band that got me into drums 13 years ago, and I literally listen to them daily. This performance is definitely in my top 3 of all time. Wow.

@@bluecomet1109 I hear you. I know a lot people share that point of view. Personally, AJFA is one of my favourite albums.
