Possibly one of the most remarkable pieces of concert footage I've ever seen. Watching James's pre-show rituals is fascinating. No amount of business gurus or universities or seminars can teach this. This is why Metallica have been on top for nearly forty years. Their music is still relevant. Old songs or new songs... the crowd reaction says it all. And i bet Morricone never got a bigger reaction to his music than from the Metallica faithful.
The pre-show ritual should have been the title of this video. We've all heard For Whom plenty of times and this version didn't do it any different, but the pre-show was cool as hell. The fist bumps with his techs was so cool to see, plus the cigar, mate and sanitizer lol.
I don't see how it's that special. He smokes, drinks, interacts with crowd for 10 seconds, tests guitar, then heads on stage. What is there to really teach by a business guru, university, or seminar?
With young fans who keep adding. That's when they see that they have really left their mark on one generation and will do so with another! I’m from that new generation, I’m 27 my dad 56 (an OG fan, because of him I love Metallica and we are going together) 🤘🏻
Non solo quello, ma tutti quelli in cui suonano. Li seguo da quando avevo 13 anni, ora ne ho 54 e secondo me rimangono i migliori assieme a black Sabbath e AC/DC
It's amazing how close they are to a superstar. He's done this probably 1,000 times. The whole thing is pretty mind-blowing they'll be get to see this. Excellent video thank you
Superstar ? What's that ? The fella makes music from which started out as a hobby and ended up paying for a lavish lifestyle. Trust me fella, he still takes a shit and a piss like you and I.
I am so grateful and lucky that I have live almost my entire life listening to Metallica music. These guys and this band is no doubt one of the greatest! Legends! 🤘🤘🤘🤘🔥🔥🔥🔥
I love that he still gets super hyped up for the shows. This man has been doing this precise thing for a generation yet clearly absolutely adores the fans and shows. I wish he could keep rocking until the end of time
I dunno he looks pretty “here we go again “ to me. Keith Richards said he normally doesn’t want to do a show, isn’t wanting to come out, and then gets marginally into it once it starts. Fruciante Hates concerts. Where are you getting all this Joy vibe ? Projection
@@dougcameron6609 I’ve been a fan of theirs for 15 years and have gone to many of their shows. I’ve watched tons of interviews with Hetfield, and briefly met him in 2017 at a show in Atlanta. He’s always amazing. At concerts he’s high energy, emotional, and a great performer. In person he is gracious, kind, and genuine. Not sure where you’re getting this idea of him hating concerts, seems like YOU’RE projecting
You realize that everyone of them is in stage mode as soon as they leave their dressing room, do you? This is already putting on a show. And, yes, you can clearly see that 'Well, I need to look hyped. That' s part of the job'-part. But be happy if it worked on you. It's like children watching a magician. They want to believe, too.
ACDC another f****** great band in this world seen them so many times they never disappoint you and guess John without him there is no ACDC rest in peace Bon Scott ACDC is unbelievable live
Ive seen Metallica 6 times..everytime i hear those horns during ACDC is a feeling like none other..its very hard to put into words. My eyes just start watering and my heart rases with happiness and get all the goosebumps and feelings. It very well might be the most mind blowing part of the whole show for me. I cannot wait till next year when they make their way up north to Foxboro!
This band doesn't have a bad song! They all Rock in their own way! This is another one of my favorites! Great drum rhythm! Metallica Rules the hard metal bands!❤❤❤❤🇺🇸🇺🇸😎✌
Excuse me. But he looks like his own imposter. Like a trailer park grandpa you wouldn't let your children play with. His last five years are awful, visually.
@@icepl4net Just compare the pictures. That's not 'trolling' stating plain truth. Metallica became the parody Lars feared to become in SKOM movie. They play with 'the click' live, they use multiple intros, they slow down too much and the can't play their own repertoire anymore. As icing on the cake Het looks more like a Rob Halford fan than like himself. Congrats if you can ignore all that. I saw them too often to be able to.
but really.....Who the fuck cares... You are analyzing and thinking to much... If you hate them so much why are you here ? They are humans like the rest of us. @@Geiermeier
I can't even imagine the stress of trying to do your job as a guitar tech while having the audience literally breathing down your neck screaming. Chad can barely even see what's going on with James from where he's standing. I think they will drop this stage design pretty quickly.
Awesome, so jealous of the lucky people up close with James, a true moment that makes us remember for the rest of our lives. The best Metallica moment I had was being at the first ever Live playing of Spit Out The Bone, the song I wanted to see, the song they had never played and he song that I thought I would never see, and then there it was, like a dream.
Watching this, even before they start playing, James seems like a legit cool dude. Here is is getting ready, not backstage, but right out in front of the fans. He stops and starts shaking hands with the fans and having fun with them, but the thing that got me was how cool he was with his guitar tech. Standing there talking with him, looking him right in the eyes and giving him a fist bump which I'm sure they do before every gig, He just seems like a genuine dude.
Metallica is a great band but without their road crew guitar techs drum techs pyro and lighting techs and so on. Let’s raise a glass to thank the Road Crew for the hard work they do to bring these shows to your Hometown.
I think its great they hang out with fans/audience before each show prior to going on that massive stage. They are the biggest metal band of our age and respect to them for doing so good (fyi im 51 years old and a metalhead since age 12 when dio released Last In Line,1984).
Bin neidisch im positiven Sinne :). Das muss ein Erlebnis sein, dass man nie wieder vergisst und James scheint einfach so down to Earth zu sein, ein ganz normaler Mensch. Klasse.
King Hetfield at his coolest and finest moment...everytime i hear those horns during ACDC is a feeling like none other..its very hard to put into words. My eyes just start watering and my heart rases with happiness and get all the goosebumps and feelings. It very well might be the most mind blowing part of the whole show for me. What an amazing shot of footage. I cannot wait till next year when they make their way up north to Foxboro!
Metallica es una leyenda viviente y un gran ejemplo de perseverancia, disciplina y esfuerzo, y bueno, también tuvieron todas las condiciones para adquirir conocimiento y combinarlo con todos los recursos, son admirables...
I love metallica shows because they never talk politics, right vs left or any other bullshit and just put on a great show and treat all their fans the same. There is a great atmosphere at their shows where a liberals and conservatives can be as one united under the love for the music.
Thanks for this footage! I'll never be able to see them live, but at least this vid feels like I'm there! Though i guess it is 10 times better being there in person
amazing to believe we were all 15-16 yrs old with our skateboards and our friends dad's beer probably listening to these guys in cassette over and over and over again, reading magazines, always awaiting the new albums to come out.
I saw Metallica at Glen Helen Southern California and Suicidal Tendencies opened for them. Mike and the boys; fore tracks and they were finished. Then James and the crew played from 8:00pm until 11:15pm straight! The best ever!
Keep rockin'
The stage is a circle and he has 4(?) Drum kits spread across the the stage and he switches between them during the show. The ones he isn't using are hidden in rising platforms under stage ready to go up to the stage when he 's going to play on them . At any given time during the show only the kit he is playing is up on the stage the others are hidden. In this case he's in the drum kit directly on the opposite side of the stage. it's that yellow spot you can see on stage on the other side
I'm no Metallica-Fan (yet) but I appreciate these minutes before the blast! James is cool and yet under fire (control), has a minute for the fans and no reason to be afraid! Head's up!
