Metallica - "Harvester of Sorrow" (Bass Cover)

As I recorded the video for "The Shortest Straw", I thought the bass sound was peculiar and somewhat familiar. I did some research and found out that the Bass for AJFA album was actually recorded using a WAL bass!
I had to try it out! So I decided to go for this song. There is no isolated track but I found it is available on Rocksmith, so I studied the bass line from there. I found it peculiar how on the record it seems he plays really long notes during the riffs after the solo... I decided to play those riffs as a solo bass segue to the song in the end just for fun.

Kello "Gandolf" Gonzlez - The bass wizard of RU-vid. Whatever song he covers, he makes it magic. I would love to hear you do a cover of "To Live Is To Die" - In my humble opinion, that is the best composed track on the album. It's a shame they didn't do that with the San Francisco Symphony. No Leaf Clover would be great as well. Keep rockin!

I had a few years learning the bass as a teen, but my musical aspirations were cut short by a pool diving accident where I broke my neck, but it never stopped me from the loving the instrument and appreciating it through others like yourself. Gran trabajo. Parece que en estos últimos años, la gente ha sabido poner en valor el trabajo realizado por Jason en la banda. Not only is it a crime that the bass in Justice was basically snubbed out but to find out now that it was a Wal that got snubbed. All I got to say to Lars is CMON MAN!!!!! Great playing Kello and cool little bit of info to go with it. They should have you remaster Justice with that Wal.

Thanks! If you listen to the isolated bass stems available you can tell the bass was not even produced at all. The sound and some lines are too rough. I can see why they did what they did. Live Jason did work through some of those songs better, particularly this one!

Boy, if they would just add the base tone to this album. It would have sounded incredible. Just like the way your Wal sounds I can't believe Fleming Let that get away from him, Obviously he's not the sound Engineer. I like the tone of that one better than the other wal bass. Those bass guitar are so underrated that's what makes tool sounds so damn good. I love cliffs baseplaying but jason is the man I had the pleasure to see them during this album at Mississippi gulfcoast Coliseum in 89.
