The fact they're still playing like they're new to the world is amazing. I don't see any aging to their playing. They're like immortal. We love you Metallica!
you must be tone deaf or not be able to hear time signatures. listen to the dreadful drumming of Lars. edit; Im sorry for being a party pooper, but Lars is getting stiff and he is also Danish, as a Norwegian it is by law required of me to talk shit. haha
@@charlesdokken7810 to be fair to lars being a drummer is the one role in a band where your age shows the most because its easily the most physical role. Its understandable hes gonna get sloppier and sloppier even more than he already was with time
@@James-cr8mt I don't hear it. I think that's just part of James' damaged vocal cords. But I gotta admit he's sounding a lot better than he did the past couple of years
@@James-cr8mt I don't hear the pitch correction, but it's possible. Even Seattle 89 was pitch corrected (not sure how they did it back then, but it definitely was if you compare the remaster to the original). If there is pitch correction, it's subtle and done manually. Because he doesn't hit every single note exactly.
This is probably the best Kirk and Rob have sounded when shouting the "Master...Master" part. Their mics were definitely turned up unlike a lot of times in the past where you could barely hear them.
About 30 years ago I was thinking, how are these guys going to be able play their songs when they're in their 50's & 60's? Turns out they sound as good as ever!
This felt like proper album tempo... Can tell its a click track for everyone because they all had little subtle moments of having to adjust back to the tempo. Nothing wrong with that 😎
First song of Metallica I've heard... I've got tear in my eye right now. They sound amazingly live. What's a pity they aren't planning go on tour to east Europe how I wish was in their concert. Love you Metallica from Poland!
Anyone else feel like it's about time for them to bust out a new song one of these days? They must've been able to finish some new stuff to debut during the pandemic.
@@robbyu.672 he's been out of rehab since at least Spring/Summer 2020 and they were working on an album for a while during that time, including the early months of this year, so it might be safe to assume they could have some songs or even a full album at this point
It does seem to be. I wish that instead of using the gruff sounding voice sparingly throughout the song... that he'd just sing that way the entire time. His gruff voice from 89-91 suited their music so much better than his clean vocals that he primarily uses now.
@@Janjibro66 thats the problem, het thinks if he does he would blow em out again but the 91-94 style vocals didnt do that, everything before 91 is pure anger and agression and thats what broke em, but his throats all healed up so he could probably sing like 91 untill he retires and hsve no issue
I turned 14 the year this album was released. I'm so thankful this is the soundtrack of my childhood. Along with all the other great music the 80s produced.
@duaxslstiz nope , james is still the rhythm guy. The song is just not much on lead . Something like one , fade to black or for whom the bell tolls has a more lead role.
Not sure if you've seen them live but you can distinctively tell which side of the stage kirks setup is on ns which side James is on. I believe the latter is on the left everytime I've gone. Either way, they tune them up or down depending on the song, Master has two very distinctive Lead Roles with almost no rhythm hence they're both turned up, you don't even hear Kirk's to say its turned down or not but I promise it's not. A song like sandman or sad but true you can more distinctively hear who's who live, or just pay attention to their hands and listen to for who's playing which part if your that serious about it lol.
@@khall187 not surprised. this is the definitive James Hetfield song. Not slandering kirk by any means, this is just James’ magnum opus performance wise and they know it, it’s as iconic as they come
Oh yeah, top best Metallica song, ive tried these once in acoustic, downpicking is a test of endurance, its a complete test in the dexterity of your fingers, really cool song.
We're venturing into unchartered territory. While there have been rock bands aging into their late years, we've never really seen what the lifespan of a thrash metal band is. Hopefully they got another 10 or so years in them. Power through the arthritis if necessary!
@@mearndt1 what’s not to get? it’s one thing for a band like The Rolling Stones for example - who play slow, easier songs, to continue touring, whereas Metal Bands need to keep the intensity up.
I remember the first time I heard this song, 11th July 1997, I had just "blinded" bought Master of Puppets album cause some friends said it was a classic. I felt in love instantaneously.
Just saw you guys for the first time in Atlanta for AT live absolutely the coolest thing I've ever witnessed in my entire life.🤘🤘🤘🎙🎸🎵 When I say these guys had more energy than me I'm not exaggerating. They didn't quit song after ass kicking song they kept it coming no breaks,nothing...They are the REAL DEAL!!!🤘🤘 So happy I got to see my hero's❤❤f*ckin love you guys man Thank you for the best night of my life 😊
I imagine the main issue they have live is that James plays so hard and fast that sometimes his guitar can sound higher due to the increased string tension. It's part of the reason that the Dyers Eve riff 2-2-2-2 or 2-3-2-3 debate is a thing. Man just plays with such vigor that his string tension can't keep up and with his down-picking that issue is increased tenfold
@@B---tw3kh but if I'm not wrong he's now using more alternate picking, I can see it in this video at least, so maybe this lets him play with less tension.
Segundo pesquisa. Ela pode reivindicar como uma das maiores de todos os estilos. Os números são grandiosos. Melhor é gosto de cada um,porém maior o Metallica é.
Tightest live performance I’ve seen the past 20-25yrs from them. Great to see they put in the effort and can show their genius. Thank you for the upload
Lars is 57 and he's still playing those Dyno Beat hats, which are notoriously stiff and difficult to play. And with a bad technique (all arm, no wrist). That is really impressive honestly.
@@lancecasteel4366 he may be a really experienced drum tutor or even a drummer in a band you enjoy, you have no idea. Just because someone plays in a band you live doesn't make them infallible.
It's amazing that after all these years, they still love playing live. And they are better at it than ever before. I've seen a lot of bands their age that suck live. They just keep getting better. Bob Rock was right. They are a great live band. I have loved them since the Cliff Burton era and they never disappoint.
It’s kind of stunning how good they STILL are. I just saw them in Louisville in September, and it was the best I’ve ever seen em. Just keep getting better.
Um no. He's still doing those stupid ham-fisted snare and cymbal fills during the pre-chorus that don't remotely fit. I understand the desire to 'change things up' when you've played a song 10,000 times before, but at least make an effort to add fills that FIT.
@@blppt Yeah. His fills sound weird and forced, normally a drummer can do fills with in being in the groove. I don't think Lars has a groove or a feel for it. Well at least not anymore, he used to do some cool improvised fills back in the day. If he had a feel for it he could easily improvise new cool fills everyday, but he doesn't.
@@ben1ben I think his fills here were cool. He's always done quirky beats and fills - that's what gives him his signature unique and original drum style. If you don't dig it, then don't listen to Metallica, because his style of drumming is integral to the band's sound.
Man, James sure did turn it around. I've said it on a lot of these recent lives, but he sounds absolutely fantastic. The harmony sounds great too. Lars' fills are fine, but his playing is even cleaner than its been in decades. Good on these guys.
I have heard them play this song a thousand times. This is the best I have heard them play this song in over 20 years. Over the last while ...... years ... I haven't heard this edge and aggression. I almost lost hope and that they were done. But this !!!!! ....This has restored the faith !!!!
I'm so stoked to finally be able to see them live, after almost 20 years of being just a fan, and specially playing as flawlessly as they're performing now. Can't recall to hear them live this well.
My experience was 17 years ago..... best 21st birthday anyone has ever had. Its worth it, they are amazing, don't care how bad people think their new stuff is.... best...concert...ever, and they've had 17 years to just get better....like they needed it... im so happy people are going to see them still for the first time. What an epic experience...just everyone, thousands of people being on the same wave length with such epic performers. Indescribable....
I think I have been listening and watching this masterpiece more than million times but I've never felt bored of this song... I love METALLICA~ keep rocking~!!!
They play all songs at least 20% faster live so they can fit as many songs as possible in 2 hours. Personally I am amazed every time I hear Creeping Death at live tempo
They still kickass, saw them few years ago in Albany NY, I get chills thinking about it.they had hundreds of tiny drones flying around doing light shows, I wish every fan could experience them live
Well fuck me. They still have the hunger, its obvious and not one member is phoning it in. Kirk is playing with a fluidity he didn't really have for a while there, for whatever reason. Lars has really tightened up his timing and playing. Love it.
I was born on 4th November 1969. I am a full time Metallica fan since I was 14. Saw you 3 times live in Budapest, those were the times! Thank you guys for this perfect Birthday gift, wish I would be there, but I am paralized since 2015. Tho I follow you on Internet, of course!! Metallica forever!
