Nothing else matters by Metallica arranged by Tomi Paldanius Thank you for your comments and your support :)) Website www.gabriellaquevedo.com/ Fanpage #!/pages/Gab... Twitter #!/GabyQuevedo
In my mind I keep trying to define what it is that Gabriella does that is so special in most of her pieces. For me there is a base of simplicity and perfection when it comes to the timing and the precision of the notes. You can clearly here each cord and there is a perfect amount of time space between them and no messiness created by a rush of notes bleeding over each other. Next behind that timing is a great amount of detail between the original track and what she is conveying behind what the vocals would have given. I know there is more to it I just can't articulate what it is that we're actually hearing. Clarity + precision + detail + timing = greatness
Her playing is very ephemeral. It's almost magical how great she is. I think part of it is due to her having a calmness with her place in the universe. I don't know her(she would probably be a great friend though) but I feel she a very relaxed person.
What a gift to the world this young artist is. Her music is as enjoyable to hear as to watch--her agile fingering is amazing. What a testament to the rich sound of a high-end Taylor guitar as well. Thank you!
Today you are 25 Gabriella, how time flies. you were 15 when you played Metallica's 'Nothing Else matters one of my all time favourites. HAPPY BIRTHDAY keep on Playing and keep on Smiling.
not the type of guy to comment on a lot of videos but youre playing is just insane... thank you so much for your wonderful inspirational arrangements, youre truly blessed
Such a talented guitarist. Just love this performance. Sometimes you need to hear a song stripped back to this level to get a real feeling for it. Would love to hear Gabriella do a duo with James Hetfield singing. Think that would be amazing.
Carl Harrison, Yes, You couldn’t have said that better. I’m not really into heavy metal groups BUT Metallica came up with a gentle classic here. I’m a very accomplished electric guitar player but I don’t like playing acoustic guitars but I love listening to them Beijing playing professionally like this beautiful talented young lady.
Just goes to show you - a young lady with a classical guitar can sometimes make something magical - no amps, no dueling guitars, no bass, no drums no effects pedals - just two hands, some wood and nylon. It's by far not the most complex or fast piece she has ever done, but it shows an artful touch and ton of soul. Bravo!
@@bigbadbrad1894 Nope, I have both classical and modern (steel string) guitars. And I agree that there are some guitars out there that are strung with steel on a classical framework (generally, light gauge). Also, this is definitely a hybrid vehicle - the bridge and pick guard are typical of steel strung guitars, but the tone on the E and B strings are warmer than steel strings would be.
@@timbaka1480 This guitar is a custom built steel stringed Taylor GC8e, a discontinued model. Gabriella normally uses Elixir Nanoweb phosphor bronze .11-.52 strings. A slotted headstock does, of course, not mean that the guitar has nylon strings. Nylons don't have 1 11/16" nut width as this one! Taylor builds several steel stringed models with slotted stock, for example some of the 12 fret models (although this is 14). It's a matter of tradition and style. In Sweden we have several luthiers (e.g. Åstrand and Sandén) who use slotted headstocks for their steel stringed models. I asked Åstrand about the tonal differences between traditional pegheads and slotted stocks and not even him, one of the worlds most recognized builders, had a clear opinion about which sounds best. He considered it mostly an aesthetical issue. Some builders though claim that in particular 12 fretters sound better with slotted stock. You should never set up a *classical guitar* built for nylon strings with steel strings. The neck and the bracing are not dimensioned to handle the tension from steel strings, which is about 4-5 times that of nylon strings.
I have been playing this song for about 12 years now. I love it. How can 2,598 not like this arrangement? They obviously never have picked up a guitar for more than 5 minutes. Well played girl!
I don't really like this arrangement but it's nice because some people prefer other ways to play it and it's our own opinion and critics mostly were pros or people that wanna search for vocal+guitar
It is beautiful to be able to listen to you from Argentina, so much distance separates us, but we are united by the love of music. You are amazing, keep it up! An admirer of the southernmost country in the world!
I love this this song. I've heard so many covers and this one truly stands out among them. I seriously can't stop listening to it!!! It's almost got this old raw how the west was won vibe to it and I love it. Thank you for your wonderful expression
When she hit those harmonics just over halfway through I started laughing and shaking my head. This girl is beyond phenomenal. That was a work of genius. I'm glad I got to witness this person.
I discovered Gabriella's covers over two years ago, enjoyed them all, but even without being a fan of Metallica, I love the sensitivity and gentleness of this piece most of all. This is comfort music at its best.
You should re-do this song now. Your skills have vastly improved and you could add some more of those nice runs of harmonics in there too and make this song resonate to a whole new level
All these comments talking about “talent”. Sure she’s talented, but talent doesn’t produce this. I can’t even comprehend the amount of work and focus that’s gone into producing this level of playing.
People frequently talk about talent or a gift. In one of her RU-vid interviews she says that, as a teenager, she was playing guitar like 6-8 hours a day -- she went to school (maybe played guitar before going to school), came home, did her homework as fast as possible, played guitar til bedtime. That's how she got 'talent'.
It is remarkable that she had only played for two years when this was recorded. She started at age of 12. Got bored just playing chords after a few months and started to learn fingerstyle. I think Tommy Emmanuel said that one key to progress is to choose songs that you really want to play, regardless if they seem to hard. She picked the hardest goals and found a role model in Sungha Jung, an acrobat that does tricks on the guitar that are impossible for most players. She actually played on stage with Sungha eight months before this video was uploaded!
@@robstevenson6432 Off course dude. Every talent has played hours and hours. It's talent + hard work. And this lady on the guitar does it very well, wow!
1st song I learnt to play on guitar, brilliant cover, simultanious rhythm and melody an art and she pulls it off with ease. Professional, so good to hear someone with that kinda talent
So my bride walked down the isle to "Nothing Else Matters" on our wedding day. Could have been even more special to have it played this way by you on the day...
Patrick Star finger dragging is when you press the strings for the notes. Then you move your fingers to other notes, and you don’t pickup your fingers completely up. It’s like dragging your feet…
@@PaulJordan318 Thanks. When I take my fingers off notes the strings usually ring a bit. The strings always ring when I take off bar chords as well. Is this because of finger drag?
@@Nightzo this is simply from not having a perfected dismount from the strings. Practice and continued playing will make this disapear. Keep workin hard !
I suspect that by your presence, even though it is only digital for most of us, and your music, you are keeping many people feeling less lonely or alone. On their behalf and my own I thank you and hope that life rewards you for the generosity in your sharing.
I've had guitars around me most of my life and can't play happy Birthday this is honestly amazing. How can a brain and ear and hand work in such perfection. Bless you for this.
Que hermosa interpretación.. Me lleva al cielo, me hace soñar. Sin duda eres oro puro de muy buena ley tocando guitarra Gabriela. Gran artista. Bellisima..!!
There really isn't much to say except , excellent transitions , clean , harmonics just perfect . Truly great , continue please you have a great talent it does not happen that often these days with bands who are in command of three chords only and their greatest asset is pyrotechnics
Jean Proctor Yeah but we feel lie we need to cuz a few years back i commented on a vid and a guy just started spamming me about my english so ... D: U know what i mean??
Filip Marmazakovic I don't quite get where you're coming from with regards to me saying that I wish I could play anything! I think she's great - I'm certainly not debating anyone's command of the English language. I don't actually play any musical instruments to ANY level. I just wish I could play something to Gabriella's level...
Yes bueno Yasser Otero Arcas X what ella es mera bbst y sabe expresar con el sonido su forma de expresión con el intrumento Además de lo mami y bb que es ho no "!?? Pienso yo " the Charly"!?
Thank God there are people like Gabriela ! I have no words to describe how much i enjoyed it ! Real soothing performance and i loved the tapping of the harmonies you did there !!!! I am sure this is not a guitar for you anymore , its an expansion of yourself helping you express your feelings and that is the meaning of music in the first place so , thank you for "talking" to me tonight !!!!
This is perfection itself girl, wow!!! Much respect for this fabulous cover, better than the orignal. You and your guitar are in perfect harmony .....!!!!
I am a guitar player and I rarely listen to many musicians because they have little technique nor quality of playing. But she is amazing! I have to stop what I am doing and just listen. The cadence, the tone, the rhythm the finger picking is perfect.
